Gurney's Newport Resort - The Pineapple Club
You pay for the ambiance. This is a beautiful location and great spot to watch the sunset. Not worth getting a full meal unless you like overpriced, fried bar food. Cocktails were not good either.
I thought we were going for elegant dinner, didn’t realize pineapple club is more of a Childrens menu ;chicken fingers, hotdogs) & the table smelled like old dirty sponge. Fortunately we went inside & enjoyed delicious dinner at the nicer restaurant but the view we were looking for was at casual pineapple restaurant. They should switch where restaurants are
Amazing venue. It is great to have contactless ordering but would have appreciated a few more menu options and the ability to customize a bit more (no bun with the burger please). Service was outstanding as always!
Menu is limited no service
The view was beautiful. The restaurant was full of people. Food choice was limited but delicious and drinks were expensive. A great day! Better than expected but more people and tables closer than we were thinking.
Nice atmosphere. Delicious food. Very casual. Pricey.
The staff is pleasant and taking the right measures for Covid consciousness. Thanks Gurneys! Always a pleasurable visit!!
Wonderful seaside casual dining! Delicious lobster rolls!
We were told before booking because of covid precautions there would not be anyone outside the resort on the property except hotel guests - that was absolutely not the case - it was mayhem . The pineapple club has a minimal pool menu at best ( I’ve had more poolside selections at other resorts ) and this is presented as a place to actually make a reservation and eat lunch or dinner ! There is also no connection between the wait staff and the orders . You order and pay thru an app like you are at a theme park . The crowd was boisterous and mostly people not from the resort there to have a drink at sunset - very disappointing overall .
Yes you are seated next to the ocean. But prices are insane and menu options very limited. Served with plastic utensils and on disposable plates and you order on your cell phone. No water in a glass (plastic bottles), no iced tea, no refills. Enough said. Go for an expensive drink and the view and then go to a real restaurant.
Should notify booking that the reservation is casual poolside and not patio or restaurant. Very disappointed.
The food was horrible!
Meh food.. meh service
Outstanding views and beautiful setting for this casual restaurant. The food is good, but the location is outstanding.
Best bay view in Newport! The food was very good, but the menu is very limited. I didn't see any vegan or gluten-free options.
Bathrooms are shared with pool guests, they were very dirty.
Having been to the pineapple club before, this visit was a bit underwhelming. While we had arguably the best seat in the house (table 1), it was extremely dark. The menu was also very limited and we were unable to get the signature drink served in a copper pineapple that we had gotten before and really enjoyed. I had also alerted the establishment that this was a special outing as part of a bachelorette weekend: they did not acknowledge the special occasion at all. So, it was a bit disappointing that such a high end establishment could not be bothered to make their guests feel special when they had received a request to do so. I won't be running back to the pineapple club for special occasion meals or experiences in the future. Too bad, because the view cannot be beat.
Might as well toaster oven my own chicken tenders
Calamari was soooo good! Also the farmers side salad was excellent.
We had hoped for full service dining but the ambiance was fabulous!
Spectacular views. You order your own lunch but it is served to you . Great drinks as well.
A fun,but peaceful atmosphere 🍸
This is a beautiful place to eat however the menu is a bit limited. We had to go ask at the bar if they had lobster rolls, it wasn’t initially on the phone menu. I would go back but only for the view. We had a front row seat to the sunset. It’s not as intimate however, there are people walking by. I think it would be a lot more appealing if there were more items on the menu.
Casual great view of the bridge. We really enjoyed the calamari. The Lobster roll was also very good. Would go there again.
Great service and food
Great food and service. Order by scanning code at the table with your phone, but easy and quick. Best views of the sunset
View is spectacular but for two beers and mediocre “pool hut” sandwiches $75 seemed rather high for what it was.
Good service and beautiful view!!
Sunset was amazing. The fire pits are cozy. Pineapples never disappoints! What a treat.
Experience online completely upscale....while in reality not at all. Martinis in plastic cups
at crazy prices. Plastic silverware. Horrible experience. Never go back.
Not a great experience or food. Understanding of the times but nothing was done correctly.
It seems from other reviews that there were some hiccups when adjusting to covid plans, but my husband and I had a delightful evening here this past Saturday night. We made a reservation for 8 pm for some after-dinner drinks and loved the vibe at The Pineapple Club - it was our favorite spot we visited in Newport! We were able to see the sunset, order some yummy drinks, and hang out and enjoy the ambiance. You can order online and the waiters Will bring your food or drinks directly to your table. We thought the process was very easy and efficient. Very clean and lovely views. Would definitely go back!
Not what i wanted, a snake and burger place
We were there for oysters which my boyfriend and I saw on the online menu. However, once we finalized the order, the oysters were no longer available. In addition, we were forced to use Apple Pay as payment. We were not allotted to use other sources of payment. This was frustrating since my boyfriend and I do not use Apple Pay. As a high end establishment, I hoped and expected the waitstaff to tell their customers in more detail regarding food options. Also, there should be more options for customers to pay for their meals. One should not assume every guest uses Apple Pay. I understand due to COVID-19, food options are limited, but there should be better communication and notification of what the restaurant has to offer and payment options.
We sat for 20 minutes no one took order or even came near us. We saw wait staff standing around. Got up and left and no one stopped to ask why. Will never return
Great spot. Great location. Great food. Service good.
Covid inspired service could be better.
We have been here many times and had great experiences in the past. Great outdoor location to watch sailboats and sunsets!
The changes in ordering due to covid is a bit annoying. Would be better if could just run a tab. Entering info w each drink order Is not customer friendly. Also, you get a different waiter with each order so you don’t get that customer experience that you used to have. We tip our waiters well but an automatic 20 percent tip is a bit crazy with each drink order since there is little interaction with the waiter.
The drinks are more expensive now $16 dollars for daiquiri was a bit outrageous and appeared less alcohol used than in the past. Hamburger and salad were good.
There are lots of great places to eat and drink in Newport. Hopefully, these changes are only Covid related!
Less than optimal.
Having been to the Gurneys in Montauk, it’s still got a ways to go to meet that level of luxury. But the experience was wonderful, the food was great and the room was excellent! Not to mention the pool and the views
