The Charcuterie tray is always amazing and fresh!!
Enjoyed a nice relaxing evening outside. This was my first time here and was unsure what to order. The host was very helpful. He had recommendations and answered any questions we had about the menu. Appetizer, beer, food and dessert were all great!
The portions were modest. Nothing left over to take home and savor the next day. The tuna was under cooked in the center. Maybe that is the way it should be prepared. The cocktail was a bit overpriced at $11.
We had the best tuna ever!!. The setup was perfect and the temperature was just right. In addition the smoked salmon appetizer is amazing.
This is a good, solid German restaurant with a lovely bakery.
Had the never disappointing Schnitzel with fried potatoes and red cabbage. Wife had the roasted chicken with spaetzle and sauteed greens. Nice dry cider and flour-less chocolate cake shared for desert.
Loved the Brotzeit starter! Great for sharing. Nice selection of main dishes for both large and small appetites.
Always love eating outdoors in nice weather—really adds to dining experience.
It's just SO good! All of it!
Great food, European atmosphere. We both really enjoyed our meal & gimlet.
My boyfriend and I had dinner there to celebrate a work anniversary that changed my life! This meal was so delicious and the waitress was absolutely phenomenal. Great ambience!
Great diverse menu items, including the drink and beer selection. Loved the ambience and the service was great.
This was our first time at Guglhupf and had a wonderful dining experience. Having spent time in Germany, the food was excellent. The beer selection was top notch and the service was great. Our party of 4 had a fantastic experience and will definitely return.
Delicious authentic German cuisine! As always, food and drinks were amazing. Brotzeit to dessert 5 stars!
Excellent food and service.
This place is fab!!! What a great meal. The t tuna entree is perfectly executed. What a great and unusual setup. I could eat here everyday btw. They take the cleanliness u thing seriously
Great start to dinner with a cheese tray and old fashioned! All the food was delicious and cannot wait to come and dine again
met and exceeded our expectations. Loved the apetizers and food options all were excellent. great atmosphere at night
Food and beer are excellent! The prices of dishes and alcohol are very reasonable. I love Guglehupf!
Wonderful food and great service. Love the European feel.
Great service. We sat at the bar, and Caitlin took great care of us. The food was excellent, staff all friendly (they know us as we live nearby.) Fantastic experience.
I love all the unique flavors at Guglhupf. I especially like that they always have an interesting vegetarian/vegan dish on the menu. The service was great, but the dining area was a bit loud. Still, a great meal.
Guglhupf is a terrific place to enjoy dinner, lunch, breakfast or a snack. On two recent visits I've been really impressed by the quality of the cocktails, both bourbon based, that I enjoyed. Foodwise, you can't go wrong with the sausage plate, complete with very tasty pickled vegies, braised cabbage and spaetzle(sp).
We loved our dinner! Make sure to get the pretzels with mustard and beer cheese. My favorite entree was teller, a sausage(die wurst) dish. Their bakery is amazing I heard, but they don’t have cream puffs for dinner. Other desserts are still yummy tho. Would definitely go back and try brunch
First time there... staff was pleasant and the meal was great!
This is the second time I have been here and I really like it. Especially the appetizer board with the meat and cheese. The roasted chicken was good with the mushrooms. Oh I love the baguettes!
My boyfriend and I went on Saturday night and had a blast! He had never been and just loved every aspect of it. The food is delicious and the ambience is exciting without being overwhelming. Our sever was also very accommodating and nice. Thank you for a great evening!
Great time, love the atmosphere. Food is great!
The restaurant was full—great sign of good food and service. We were not disappointed. Short braised ribs were delicious and chicken dish. We also ordered a cheese tray, which was fun and delicious. Worth every penny
We previously have had great experiences here and so we planned to come for triangle restaurant week. Big disappointment! Our party tried various appetizers and entrées and all the food was extremely bland. To top it off, the service was very lacking and they automatically charged us a 20% tip. Not going back
Was rushed to leave so they could prepare to move tables for next diners.
Wunderbar!
Food was under cooked, no seasoning & served warm not hot
Thoroughly enjoyed a warm evening outside on the covered and heated patio, where is was much quieter than inside!
Had not been there in a long time. We went there for restaurant week and were disappointed in our dinners . My wife's fish was good but the overall sides and dessert were marginal. My beef was so chewy that even I complained to the waiter ( something I rarely do). The waiter was attentive and apologetic and brought another selection for me. Given the quality of restaurants in Durham there are other places we would eat for the money. 2 seniors who do eat out.
Better then I ever thought , will be back soon
Sound level too high. Menu
could improve with more
German dishes.
We had a nice dinner during restaurant week. The food was delicious and the service was attentive.
Our first time at Guglhupf Cafe based on a recommendation of a family member. It was an enjoyable evening with a nice choice of cocktails, wine and beer, a very nice pre-price, three course special with several choices and the regular menu with too many choices. Our service was excellent and we had the opportunity to chat with the owner as we departed.
Since our “gang” in Chatham County is always looking for unique dining opportunities, Guglhupf is now on our list. I may also learn how to grow the tart (zwetschgen) plums so the bakery can make me a Zwetschgenkuchen!
We also want to visit both bakeries (Chapel Hill and Durham) and try the sampler platter.
One of the best restaurants in the Triangle. Atmosphere is great and food delicious. Can't wait to go back on a beautiful day and enjoy dining outside. Beautiful restaurant!!
LOVED the food! Just the dessert was not as good as usual! Thank you! Best trout I’ve had since my childhood years in Austria!
Fantastic! Always interesting menu options, anything I’ve ever eaten here has been beyond the norm. Service is always excellent.
