Great experience will come here agian amazing view great service very friendly people just a great place in general !!
Wasn’t able to actually eat there waited 5-10 minutes at the host stand and no one approached us, no host to be seen, none of the wait staff helped, so we left
We enjoyed our meal and patio is pet friendly. The menu selection is great as well as margaritas
I loved Guaymas for years. Sadly, all my favorite dishes kept getting dropped, from appetizers to entrees. The view is still great. The staff is still extremely nice, and it's a great place to watch the ferries come and go. Disappointed the company that now owns Guaymas is closing it down, as they closed Hs Lordships, which I'd gone to since I was a college kid. That place was on the Berkeley marina, so another nice waterfront location. Can't help thinking this is all about adding some other business to these prime locations and killing off the competition by buying it and slowly but surely driving off the regular customers. Makes me sad. Still worth going to until it closes, just to make the memories before it's gone for good.
I'm very sad that this amazing restaurant is going out of business after 30 years! I've been coming here for probably 20!! It will be missed!!
Sorry to hear it is closing Labor Day. We have been going there for 30 years.
Our servers were friendly and accommodating, but very sad to see how this once hopping destination is now so sad and empty. Food is just average, big chain Mexican food. Hoping they have the desire to turn it around someday because the location is great.
The view is great, but as most reviewers have said, the food is mediocre. They bill themselves as an "authentic" Mexican restaurant, but it's really more like Tex-Mex or American Southwest. You can't really complain about the food; it tastes just fine. But I never once encountered an authentic Mexican restaurant that served burritos, enchiladas, and quesadillas. It's decent chain restaurant food in a beautiful setting!
Why aren’t points given for this restaurant??? Fish tacos were delicious.
the food list was disappointing and the food was pretty mediocre
Never would I recommend this restaurant!
Horrible service, bad food.
The restaurant is in a nice location, but otherwise NOT a good choice
We like to come here. Our only challenge on this occasion was that we were sat and then sat there for a good 10 minutes before we got water. When the waitress came we just gave her our entire order because it took so long. Food was good. We had combo fajitas and chips and guacamole. It’s nice to sit in the deck.
This was the PERFECT lunch spot on the way to wine country. I work for a winery and I was hosting 10 guests on a trip. We had the most beautiful view of San Francisco and the food and drinks were excellent. David, the GM, made sure the group was well taken care of. I will definitely bring my next group to Guaymas in August. Thank you!!!
Awful food. Arrived too quickly to be freshly cooked and was just unpleasant. Don’t eat here.
Had a great experience at this restaurant. Food was very good. Margaritas were a little weak but tasted good.
Server was so kind and attentive, delicious food, great views!
Great staff, dry friendly, accommodating and professional. Food was excellent all around and the margaritas were perfectly delicious! Can’t wait for our next Guaymas experience!
I used to love Guaymas. Now I like it. The food is now "general Mexican" (fajitas, etc.) as opposed to specialty regional Mexican food. The ceviche is good but overpriced, and the guacamole was runny instead of chunky (as it used to be years ago). Service was good. Wat has not changed is the spectacular location by the Bay, with the view of the city and the ferry and sailboat traffic. That is still worth a detour to dine on the terrace. But Guaymas has lost some of what made the dining experience special in addition to the location.
The waiter provided very poor service. Pigeons flying indoors and landing on tables while trying to eat. Food came out cold. Special occasion ruined.
We have had dinner at Guaymas several times and were generally happy. However, our last visit was very problematic. First off, the food took a very long time to arrive, despite the restaurant being relatively empty ( compared to other times we visited). When the food arrived, I had chicken fajitas and my wife salmon tacos, it was nearly tasteless. The servings of sour cream and avocado to go with the fajitas were minuscule. I had to ask for a second portion. My wife reported that her tacos were also nearly tasteless. We were very disappointed. The only positive was the attitude of our waitress who tried to make up for the very poor service with a wonderful and empathetic attitude. We were nonetheless very disappointed with our dinners.
Unfortunately , the quality of the food has gone down as well as the decor. Restaurant needs a facelift and the food used to be much fresher. Still great views, but sad to see it go down in quality.
It was Fourth of July and we expected it to be crowded and busy. It was not overly busy and the service was excellent- attentive and pleasant. We all enjoyed what we ordered and the portions were generous. Great place to see both Sausalito and SF fireworks from. Great night!
It’s a nice restaurant and we have enjoyed it in the past. However, the kitchen made to many errors and for a table of 13 many of us left unsatisfied. They made about 10 errors on our food and on the bill. I will put most of the blame on the kitchen not the waiter. She was wonderful but, the kitchen made to many errors.
The food was awful and service was a nightmare ... the meat was tough, the chips were hard, and the food took too long. It is a disrespect to California Mexican cuisine and the workers don’t care.
The price does not match the level of service or quality of food. A big let down for a restaurant in Tiburon
The food was very very poor. I had to send my food back, which I never do as it was inedible.
Then, when the check came, I had to ask them to take it off the total. The waiter was distracted and unhelpful. Theres no excuse...with places like Rosa Mexicano and so many delicious fresh, fun Mexican restaurants in the Bay Area, Guaymas should hire a new chef, staff and revamp itself to be as it was when it first opened.
What happened to Guaymas? This used to have a great view and amazing Mexican food. We had not been for many years and were so disappointed. The food was lacking flavor or spice, and the interior looked worn and dirty. While the staff was very nice, we saw holes in the ceiling and dirt everywhere. While the view is spectacular, the food is the worst Mexican food we've ever had...Chipotle is 100 times better. Stay away, far, far away...
Horrible service and overpriced food that wasn’t even that good. What else do I need to say
Not what it used to be. It was noisy with music and the cook screaming in spanish from the kitchen. The food was mediocre and the ambiance was annoying. I was sorry that I had talked it up so much with the group of people I suggested it too. It was a convenient location for after a day at Angle Island but we wish we had gathered to eat elsewhere.
Great service always with this restaurant and the food is good too. We keep returning whenever we’re in Tiburon.
food was good, service was good: the place is too loud, but moving outside was easy and pleasant. The only cocktail we ordered was a frozen Guaymas Margarita, and it was very refreshing and tasty. The snapper was especially delicious. We will come again, the flavors are worth a visit.
How could the review skip the VIEW - great view from upstairs! The ferry comes right into the front of the restaurant - very convenient! Food was better than it had been in a few years - though we truly missed the tamales that have been on the menu forever! Our waiter was very kind and very patient with us!
The location is great. The experience felt dreary, compared to past visits. Four people ordered cups of soup and they were brought huge bowls, because "they had no cups." One person wanted draft beer, which was on the menu and was told "we have no draft beer." Our waiter was nice. The food was fine but nothing great. Maybe just go for the view and the drinks.
Guaymas has been a great place, and we have dined there many times, but it seems to have really gone downhill.
On this occasion, the food was not very good. The chicken mole was merely pressed chicken breast with a sauce on top. The Huachinango was essentially mushrooms and slightly smelly fish. Edible, but hardly as good as home cooking.
To make matters worse, our waiter was drunk. One could smell the liquor on him immediately, he was confused and forgetful, and the food was very slow in coming although the place was not busy. It probably had been sitting around for awhile.
I hope the manager reads this; if Guaymas does not pull itself together, it will be gone soon.
Guaymas is one of our favorite restaurants and I usually rate it 5-star. This time, however, my entree was not up to standard so I deducted 1 star.
The food is quite ordinary and pretty pricey for what you get. I had a shrimp cocktail that had 3 large shrimp and the rest was "bay shrimp" of the salad variety. The sauce was so hot (spicy) that nothing could be tasted after the taste buds went dead. We go there for dinner before attending concerts in Belvedere, but we're thinking about some other options now. They've never served horchada as a beverage, though I've repeatedly inquired about it. The server just says, "we don't carry that" but there's not an offer to pass along the suggestion to management.
I used to come here frequently 10-15 years ago and the food was better then. Sitting on the water is now the draw.
View spectacular. Seating old and funky (wobbly tables). Food so-so. Drinks very good. Salsa good too. If you need a good view, want decent "Mexican" food and good drinks this is a good spot. For a special gem of an experience, I'd look elsewhere.
I have not visited Guaymas for many years and was really looking forward to what I remembered it was. I was very disappointed. I ordered a drink and the glass was filthy inside food residue of some kind (nobody checked it, they just pour and serve) Once the order was taken it took a long time for it to arrive. Barely warm, I asked for no onions and it had plenty of them. The price we paid for what we got was really not good value.
I will never go back, not with that service and lack of attention to the Guests
The one thing that’s remained consistent is the beaut view of San Francisco. This was our first visit back to Guaymas since the mid 2000’s and the food and service has gone down hill dramatically. Our dinners (3 of them) were extremely underwhelming in terms of flavor and execution, and very expensive (I’d expect more from a casual Taqueria). Our cheese enchiladas were lukewarm and the cheese only partially melted and the rice and beans were served in the kitchen from a cafeteria style serving line (I noticed when I passed by on the way out), and the service was very slow and loud ambience. Very disappointing given how innovative and fresh the food was in the mid 2000s. I’d only recommend the place now for a drink to see the spectacular views.
