Marinara sauce - simply the best!
House-made meat sauce, marinara
Parmesan-crusted scaloppine, mushrooms, fettuccine Alfredo, lemon
Great place to go for a nice dinner!
The food is very good for a reasonable price. Wonderful Service!
Food was excellent but service was not. Never had the same person come to our table. Didn’t ask if we wanted dessert (which we did), just brought check. Had to ask who to pay since no one ever came back to take our money.
Great staff. Service was fast and food was on point.
Typical Landry’s chain restaurant. Mediocre food overpriced.
Besides one of our parties having a hair in there food and still had to pay for it, all & all was good.
Great place to eat in Lake Charles. Keep up the good food!
Seated right on time with reservation. Bread brought out quickly to soak up the alcohol. Food was excellent.
Our waitress Erika was fantastic!!
We had reservations and were seated promptly after arrival. The staff was friendly and courteous. The food was delicious!
Food was very good and it came out super fast!
Poor service for not be crowed at 4:15
The reviews had me concerned about returning to Grotto. But it is very much the same that it has always been. It is a nice place that is easy to deal with. The environment is very nice and the staff is pleasant. It can be casual or dressed up. The food is good, not exceptional, but good. Service is good, not exceptional. This restaurant is an upscale version of Olive Garden/Macaroni Grill with prices that match. You will get exactly what you are paying for.
We were seated promptly. The hostess was very cheery and communicated well. Our waitress was thorough and attentive from beginning to end. Our food was delivered to the table in a timely manner and was prepared as ordered.
Was nice but large group close by and so loud. Thought might be a little more elegant and maybe it was large group that felt more like a sports bar.
Excellent service and food even better than usual. Did not disappoint, and was very glad to have the open table reservation as the restaurant was full.
Waitress was wonderful.
The food portions were much smaller than in years past, and the pasta was very lackluster, not homemade.
Delightful experience. Pleasant, attentive service.
Great food and drinks..definitely try the Sicilian kiss drink
Love this place! I go every time I am in Lake Charles. Staff is wonderful and food is amazing!
My wife and I had eaten here about 4 years ago and loved it. We have been wanting to come back but due to the limited hours (days of week open) we had not been able to get there until this past week on a Tuesday. We entertained another couple traveling with us by "selling" them on this very good restaurant. We were the first to be seating at opening time on a Tuesday. Our appetizers were good but we were disappointed in our entrees. The portions on one plate was so small I thought maybe they forgot to put the main item on the dish. My wife mostly enjoyed her entree but the chicken seemed "boiled" instead of broiled or grilled. I had the veal Marsala and it was just ok and the portion was disappointingly small. Our guests ordered Creme Brulee and an Espresso for desert. The Creme Brulee was not recognizable as any creme brulee we had ever seen and the flavor was nothing like what it should have been. Two bites and it was sent back and they did comp it. The Espresso was cold and was sent back. So, our long expectations of returning to the Grotto was mostly disappointing and we won't be going back or recommending it to anyone.
We have eaten at the GN Grotto several times, and normally, all is quite nice. This time, things were different. Right out of the gate, with an 8:30 reservation and checking in about 2 minutes early, we were told we would have a 25 minute wait. This is what you DON'T do if you want to sell us more alcohol which by the way, is YOUR biggest profit-maker. Our server was good, was friendly, had a smile, all that you could ask. However, while the restaurant itself seemed to be fully staffed, things ran VERY slowly. It took 25 minutes for our drinks to be delivered from the time they were ordered. We were told the bartender was backed up. Several other things...our table was the only table we could see with no salt and pepper. It was interesting...at one point, with people waiting for tables out front, up to four tables either un-bussed, or bussed and set, but not being used. If Tilman saw this, he woulda gone nuts! The tomato basil soup, while good, came after the salad? The waitress provided some reason that I couldn't understand, but said it was her decision to serve in that order and this was better than soup, then salad, then main. Hmmmm?
I always order the rigatoni with meatballs! This time I couldn’t eat it, to spicy my tongue was burning had to send it back!
This used to be a great restaurant. But our last experience was different. We arrived for our 6:30 reservation and were promptly seated. It went downhill from there. We repeatedly told our waitress we were going to the 8:00 concert on premises and she assured us we would be out in plenty of time. Our food didn't arrive until 7:35 and we didn't get the check until 7:50. It was paid at 7:55. By the time we walked across the casino and went upstairs to the venue the concert had started. Also my portion of food was half what I usually get, and the usually delicious food was mediocre. My advice: don't go there before a concert.
We were celebrating 2 birthdays as indicated on my reservation and NO ONE—the hostess or the waiter acknowledged our birthdays. Quite disappointing.
Food was mediocre compared to the Houston locations
Food was delicious. The tomato basil soup was expensive but the best I’ve ever tasted! Very good experience.
Simple order. Salad and pizza. Took an hour to come out. The pizza guy was too busy chatting and BSing with his colleague to get the pizzas out in a timely fashion and no one seemed to care. Restaurant was perhaps 60% occupied. The bread that was once nice with good crust is now a soggy wonder bread mess. I wish this were an outlier but all the Landry's restaurants in Lake Charles are poorly managed often with excessive waits.
Erica, our server, was so gracious and kind. The food was great!
Excellent fried calamari and outstanding Shrimp and Crab Capellini. Good service and reasonable prices. Suggest reservations on Friday and Saturday nights.
Well party of 6 changed to party of 10 on Christmas night and they accommodated us with no problem. They ran out of processco but went to Landry seafood and got some from them and at the end some wanted to pay separate and he took care of this. The manager came by our table several times to make sure everything was OK. I couldn't ask for better service than this especially on Christmas night at Golden Nugget where the place was very busy.
Every other experience we have had has been great but the other night the service was poor and the food was cold. We had reservations but had to sit at the bar area which was fine but the service was horrible. We didn’t get out alcoholic drinks at all it took a long time to get our food. I understand it was the holidays and it was busy but the service just failed this time.
We had fantastic server named Erica, my wife is very sensitive to spicy food even black pepper, so Erica ensured everything was spiced properly. We started with fried calamari, with marinara, there was enough for table of four and there was only two of us. My wife had the veal parmagiana & I had the cioppino. They were both done extremely well. This was our Christmas Eve meal and worth every penny. We would definitely be back next year.
The bar was out of two beers that I ordered, the chicken was to tough to eat.
I went to the restroom and there were towels around the toilet on the floor, indicating that the toilet was leaking. This is unsanitary.
went for reservation only to find the restaurant was close no one contacted me to let me know. so showed up with friends going there for the first time I ranted and raved over the food and so on. was extremely embarrassed and could not apologize for ruining our Christmas celebration. Called the PR relations at Landry's but have not heard to no avail the lady said someone from the restaurant would be calling me but nothing. loyal customer and love the restaurant but not sure I will ever return.
Thanks. NOT YOUR GUYS FAULT THE RESTSRUNT IS AT FAULT
When we arrived for my son's 20th birthday, we found out the restaurant was no longer there--inspite of getting text reminders for the reservation as we stood in front of what was the Grotto. No one could explain or offered much help. Fortunately, we happened to find a restaurant open that could take us--although it made us late for the movie that my family had tickets for. Four days later someone called an offered 2 appetizers for our trouble. Don't think we'll be visiting the restaurant or the Golden Nugget anytime so--too little too late.
My husband and I joined a couple of our friends for a late lunch. After waiting 15 minutes to even have a waitress take our drink order, we should of known the rest of the time there would not go well. The restaurant was very short staffed so we understood it would take a while for the food. My husband and I ordered the nachos and sad to say they were less than appetizing. They were covered in the fake cheese sauce that you might find in a ball park, not what I expected from a Landry's restaurant or for the money. We used our gift card to pay and the waitress seemed stressed and overwhelmed by trying to process it. Some how the gift card and the receipt of the actual bill did not match up. Since we were trying to have an enjoyable vacation getaway, we just let it go and left. In the future, we will not be back. Sad for such a nice place to have so many management issues.
We enjoyed everything about the restaurant and the food and server were awesome!
We arrived earlier than our 6pm reservation time and we were seated early . Our waitress put our order in at approximately 5:45 at 7:00pm we had still need received our order. We ask for the manager and she clearly stated that the orders are put in as they are received and the cooks are working to get all orders out! We told her we had seen several people arrive after us and they were already finished with their meals ,she didnt offered us an appetizer or an apology ! She was condescending and rude acted as if we should be happy just to be sitting there! Waitress came and apologized and said that the manager said she would comp the drinks ,she is not manager material you should find a manager that have the skills to handle a kitchen situation!!! POOR Management will never visit your restaurant again!!!!
The lasagne was wonderful, pizza was great (probably could’ve used a little more cheese). The scampi appetizer was fabulous. We have visited often and are never disappointed.
