Dissatisfied with the selection of the menu
wasn't excited about our experience. The waitress was overwhelmed. the beer on draft was sour. They didn't make enough bread for all the tables, no ranch (yes, I know it's ridiculous of me to ask for ranch but it was for the crust).
limited menu that was over priced.
The menu was downsized to around only 12 items. The most important part of this review, is the food quality has gone down quite a bit, compared to the last time we were there. We will not be going again.
The food was amazing!! Service was great. Definitely coming back next time.
Didn’t realize they had a limited menu. We go to the one in Galveston all the time and have a certain preference. But what we did order was good overall. Our reservation was at 815 and they decided to close early at 830. So we couldn’t order dessert, which we always do and we were celebrating our anniversary. So that was a big bummer.
Just about 5 foods on menu
Menu is extremely limited and service was terrible. Very disappointing.
We arrived upon opening. Spaghetti bolognese wasn't hot and no parmesan or bread was offered. I had to ask for it and we were almost done with our meal before we got it. The pizza was good.
The menu was very limited and extremely pricy. We felt rushed. My soup had just come out and I didn’t even have a chance to eat it, when my entree was delivered. I felt good was just slipped into a bowl. We got an off menu special and it just left much to be desired. Check was brought before we were even finished with entree. Staff was very friendly. Ambience was nice. But, we won’t be back.
Just the first of multiple service errors at The Golden Nugget this weekend. We arrived and checked in at 6pm for our 6:15 reservations (which we'd made specifically to allow for time before our 8pm concert began). 6:15 came and went, and we assumed they were running behind. Around 6:20 I went to ensure we had not missed our name being called. Nope, still one reservation ahead of us. But then we watched as multiple groups were seated - steadily for the next 30 minutes. My fiancee asked about our table around 6:45 and was informed "you still have one reservation ahead of you, but we're seating some walk-ups that have been waiting a long time". Then what, may I ask, is the good for a reservation? We were finally seated around 7:10. Our server came over promptly, at which point we explained we had 40 minutes from that point to eat, so let's get food and drink ordered, bring the check with the food, and we'll be good. Which she did. The food, and the actual service, was good. But getting into the restaurant was a nightmare that should never have occurred. There were two other tables that were seated right behind us, both couples who were likely also headed to the concert and were extremely irritated by the situation. While standing at the hostess table before being seated, one of them walked up and asked "is this the complaint line?" Really really irritated. I'll be flooding their social media with this ridiculousness. No "let's comp your appetizer or drinks for the trouble", not even a "how was your meal" or a visit from the manager to apologize for the situation. There are other concerts we want to go to there, but I'll make sure we stay and dine elsewhere. This place is not worth the hassle.
We made reservations for 6:15 since we were attending a concert at 8:00. We arrived on time and were told that there was one table in front of us. After watching 3 different parties (who did not have reservations) get a table we asked the hostess what was going on. She told us that they really didn't honor reservations and that basically we were considered a walk-up. We finally got a table 45 minutes after our reservation time and had to rush through dinner so we could make it to our event on time. While the food was good we did not have time to enjoy it. Don't offer reservations if you're not going to follow them.
Hannah gave us excellent service. The menu was very limited.
Very limited menu, it’s time to bring back the full menu… the wait for pizza to come out is way too long. Bread was horrible, not the Grottos we are accustomed to. No variety. Have to ask a for every little thing.
We loved Grotto! Although there is a very limited menu, the spaghetti bolognese and pizza were amazing! Service was a little slow due to the waitstaff shortage, but it didn’t bother us at all. I’m glad we chose Grotto for our date.
Margherita pizza is delish!! I love the atmosphere too
Menu extremely limited. Had to flag waitress for silverware, refills, cheese, pretty much everything. Food was bland and flavorless
My fettuccine sauce was too watery our salad I had too many Coors in it we had to ask for bread very limited menu They only have two pasta dishes some pizza no appetizer very disappointing
Limited menu, but overall, we enjoyed it.
Host was a bit rude as we arrived 15 minutes late and was told that our table had been given away without texting or calling to confirm if we were still coming. Waited another 30 minutes before we could get a table even though there were plenty tables open and guest arriving after us were seated ahead of us even though they had a later time reservation.
Great service, but that pizza we got was spectacular! Will definitely go back when we visit again!
Very fast service even when they were busy
The menu is extremely limited and very disappointing. No dessert options either!
Excellent food and service. The menu has been reduced so not a big variety but everything was great. Only negative was that there is such a glare in the late afternoon that you can hardly see. Although the shades were lowered on the windows, there were no shades on the door.
We normally like Grotto. Food was great, most expensive cup of tomato basil soup I’ve ever had. I guess Covid has taken its toll on the services at restaurants because it was horrible. Hope to go back when things get better after everyone gets back to work since the government cheese has run out.
They are working with a VERY limited menu...2 apps, 2 pastas, 3 or 4 pizzas. We were there for the pizza so, fine by me! We had the thin meatza...FABULOUS! And the frozen bellinis! DON'T GET ME STARTED! DELICIOSO! and strong! Waitress was great! And the place was packed and only one other waitress! COME BACKTO WORK, PEOPLE! Tip big to those out there humping!
Very disappointed! Tiny menu hardly anything cocktail was good my ravioli which wasn’t even on the menu was so spicy had to send it back n wait which my friends were done so I just took it to go n none their prices were definitely not worth it ! Over $25 for spaghetti with 1 meatball n lasagna they said didn’t taste like homemade sauce! Won’t be going back
FANTASTIC PLACE TO ENTERTAIN FRIENDS. EASY TO TALK WITH EACH OTHER WHILE EATING OR DRINKING, DURING YOUR CELEBRATION OF A BIRTHDAY PARTY OR JUST OUT FOR A MEAL. SERVICE WAS EXCEPTIONAL!
Very disappointed in the quality of our dinners. Pizza for the kids was good
6pm reservations. Had to wait 20 minutes for the table. No busboys to clear tables. Very limited menu. However pizza and salad were good. Place is very noisy. Cannot have a conversation without raising voices. Just the ambiance makes it a no go again for me
Brought my bestie here to celebrate her birthday before the ZZ Top concert. It took a while for us to be seated. Only two hostesses; and they were the ones cleaning the tables. Waitress was great, but the menu was lacking (I know, it's a pandemic). Even though the food was good, it was extremely garlic-y. When making the reservation, I was asked if we were celebrating anything and I selected "Birthday." I don't know why, as it wasn't even acknowledged. Kinda bummed about that. It would've made the experience nicer.
Service was slow
The spaghetti bolognese was good but a cup of pasta drowning in sauce for $20 was a bit disappointing. My dinner was ready about 20min before my husband's $24 pizza, so he watched me eat, then I watched him.
Can’t wait to get back to their normal menu
We have eaten here many times. Limited menu but still food was excellent.
We were not expecting the small menu. We have eaten at Houston and the woodlands (witch they closed down for steak house).
What they furnished was good.
Great service from Hannah. The lasagna special was delicious.
Our server Holden was excellent.
The service and food continues to be Grotto standard - excellent, although the menu continues to be very limited so glad it has reopened at GNLC
Nice restaurant, the food wasn’t good and the waitress got our entire table orders wrong.
It should state somewhere when making reservations, that you are serving a very limited menu. Had we known before making reservations, we would have gone somewhere else.
