Our favorite place. Didn’t disappoint. Great meal, great service.
Amazing service and food! Made my anniversary!
Great experience in a return visit to one of my favorites in Charleston. We were seated promptly and waiter was very helpful and attentive. We shared the large filet and the lobster and with sides of creamed spinach and truffled potato chips, and everything was cooked to perfection. It was not cheap but price is what you would expect for a fine-dining experience and well worth it.
Been here several times. Food is always delicious and the service is outstanding! Highly recommend!!
Everything great except for bread. Had as a brick. Asked waiter and he said others have said same thing but that chef said it was right. Will not return over bread.
This was a wonderful experience and the staff made my anniversary that much more special when they gave us. Chocolate covered strawberries with the words Happy Anniversary written in chocolate on the plate.
1st class experience from the moment you walk in door!!
We looove Grille 225, the family the food the atmosphere and cocktails are one of our very favorites!
Great food (as always)
Great wait staff
Only negative - Our table was close to high traffic area between bar and hotel registration area.
So great to have them open again! Food and service as always was terrific!
Everything was perfect. Great place to celebrate a special occasion.
I took my wife to this restaurant as a surprise/ early Valentine’s Day date. The lighting was nice and dim. The customer service was classy and professional. The food was savory and the experience overall was superior to any restaurant I have been to thus far.
One of the best restaurants I ever been too! Definitely will go back.
My husband and I decided to try 225 again after a bad experience the last time we dined there (about 3 years ago). We were devastated that our meal was so bad. We feel terrible about having to post this terrible review since they have just reopened due to the pandemic. We want them to do well but gave to be honest. The flounder was not freshly prepared and overcooked, not curled up on edges as when freshly fried and crisp. Looked like a slab of fish , so I assume frozen. crab cakes were mushy, over seasoned and just terrible. The asparagus were not fresh, although beautiful to look at, they had to be frozen as there was no flavor. We never mind paying for these prices but we do expect good quality and preparation in the food.
We noted it was a birthday celebration and it wasn’t acknowledged by restaurant
Fries were almost burned, steak was good but a little charcoal. Overall was ok.
Everything was perfect!
We really enjoyed our experience. The food was delicious. My husband had the New Yourk Strip and I had the lumped crab cakes, omg, the BEST EVER! How ever our fried green tomatoes were cut to thick and were very crunchy and just kinda bland.
I also think you guys should have some different sides, like lobster mac and cheese, broccoli and cheese, regular mashed potatoes, even tho y'alls sweet mashed potatoes is to die for.
I highly recommend you guys and we will totally revisit!!
Thank you for a fabulous dinner experience. And our server Ben and his helper Cody were phenomenal! 🥰
Food and drink 10/10.
Service 10/10.
Overall experience 10/10.
We will be back!
The food was excellent and the service top notch. Can’t wait until our next trip to Charleston eat there again.
Fantastic steakhouse in a beautiful setting. Food and service were fantastic. I had the small filet with shrimp scampi on top of it. Steak was cooked to perfection and there were three large shrimp in a delicious buttery garlic sauce that complimented both the shrimp and the steak. Great dining experience. One tip: skip the beignets for dessert
First time dining here, although we’ve had drinks here many times. Our server was excellent. He was attentive without being a pest, and was very personable. He brought us complimentary champagne to start, very nice touch. I started with the crab chowder, but I didn’t like it. It was too thick, almost pasty. And it had a very fishy smell. Our waiter took it away and said it would be taken off the bill. I also ordered the flounder with the baked tomato side dish. The fish was very nice, perfectly prepared , and plenty of it. I just think the portions should be smaller and less expensive. The baked tomatoes were also delicious, but I only ate one, and took home the other four. Just too much!
JB was great. Food outstanding
Best ever always!
Jordan was an excellent wait person. Steak and crab cake were incredible. Would not get hash browns or pecan pie again.
Pretty much empty. Not really a happening place although it’s in the middle of tourist town. Makes you wonder. Food was very good, but not outstanding. Service was “stiff”. Still had good food and a good time, so 4 stars.
Recently reopened after undergoing renovations. Beautiful reservation with outstanding food.
Overall, a great experience at Grill 225. Our waiter, JB, was courteous and knowledgeable about the menu. The 16 ounce ribeye should be their flagship steak. It was very good and it was prepared just as requested. The grilled octopus was charred slightly too much - but was still very good. Grill 225 remains one of the best steakhouses in Charleston without a doubt!
Appetizers and sides were good. Entree flounder was not edible. Rubbery and tasted like grease or oil. Left 60% on plate and wasn’t questioned why. Attention to dining much more prevalent at competitors downtown. Glad we tried but never returning
Been there a bunch of times over the years. Had a vegan in our group this time and they weren’t accommodating at all. Almost to the point it was ridiculous and made us buy several full sized vegetables sides to make a vegetable meal. Also, the sides in general weren’t as good as they used to be. The steak was very good though.
Great service, food fantastic, 100% the right choice
Totally enjoyed our experience!
Amazing dinner- best I ha e had in Charleston since moving here last year!
We’re “out of towers” nut 225 is always a staple for us. Best steak review remains in tact. Food always exceeds expectations but service and atmosphere was lacking at best this visit. COVID affects everything but felt rushed and like the only people in the restaurant. Atmosphere wasn’t ideal as we were one of 4 tables on a Friday night.
The server we had tried to do a good job but it was quite evident that the restaurant was understaffed. We are talking about a restaurant where you spend more than $100 for each person in your party. A restaurant that should be one of the best in Charleston, but honestly nothing special because our water glasses were empty for way too long. During this virus if a restaurant wants to be open they should provide better service to it's patrons because we are the ones trying to support them and not having a stocked bar for their specialty drinks is absurd. I spent over $100 just in tip and taxes. Why are taxes so high right now? Shouldn't government reduce the burden so business can survive? Honestly nothing special about our steaks and I have gotten much better at Ruth Chris a chain steakhouse. The Blue crab soup was fair the French Onion soup was very good. The wedge salad was good but the chopped Caesar salad was tasteless. We have been to Grill 225 many times but this the last. If I just wanted food I would have gone to Longhorns but I wanted a special experience for a special occasion and that did not happen.
Went out for New Years to celebrate with my coworkers and we had a great time. The service was excellent, the food was quality. We really enjoyed the scampi lobster and the steak was cooked to perfection. The drinks were so very unique and yummy.
My significant other and I ate at your establishment on NYE at 7pm. We ordered the BLT salad. During eating this salad, I first had some extremely hard and non-chewable items. I removed them from my mouth and placed them on an appetizer plate. Then my significant other experienced the same with her salad. We brought it up to our server and she apologized. Well, that hard non-chewable item caused a cracked tooth and the tooth has been loose ever since. The rest of the main course was amazing, the filet was one of the best we have experienced, but we are now left with a dentist appointment for the cracked and loose tooth.
Dec 30 2020. Great meal with 5 diners. The Filet was a great hit - had a super char on it and very juicy. Really like the champagne selection as well.
Grill 225 is our favorite place to eat!!
The food was incredible and we over ordered with two appetizers per person, a 3 pound lobster and amazing filet expecting to try everything but it was so good we ate every last bite. If my wife didn’t want to try new places on our trip, I would go back here every night.
