I was pretty disappointed. At $150 per plate, I would expect the food and service to at least beat out a chain restaurant. Underseasoned steaks, cold broccolini, a meat & cheese tray with "Wild Meats" in the name...yet, it was simply farm-raised pork, and "just ok" service made this one of the few high end steak houses that simply did not live up to expectations.
I would eat here again if it were $100 for dinner for two...but not for $300. Spend your money at Del Friscos. Better service, better food, and a better view.
Beautiful restaurant and great service but the food was not good. This is suppose to be “one of the best steakhouses” but our New York steak was chewy. The spinach was so dark as if it’s been sitting all day. Sautéing fresh spinach isn’t hard. The side of mushrooms were very dry.
24k old fashioned was ok. And oysters were mediocre. They gave me one small Tabasco sauce.
Wasn’t expecting live music 2 tables away from where we were trying to dine and have conversations. We were there to say goodbye to our sons before he left on deployment and we could t even hear ourselves talking
Waitress Joanne was personable and awesome made it a special experience for my wife with a trick candle to end the meal sitting on top of a yummy light chocolate mousse cake. She went the extra mile.
Loved the New York steak (flavorful and perfectly cooked) We didn’t like the calamari and shishito peppers appetizer. It was kind of generic and uninspiring and only one cut of squid and weirdly chopped shishito pepper’s could be 86’d from the menu.
Service was terrible. Took 2 hours to get our food, and only after I told the manager we were leaving. My steak came out raw. I order medium rare, so when I say raw, I’ll mean cold and raw. We watched everyone else get there food. After our food finally came out, and I complained about my steak, the manager stated she would take the steak off the bill as if she was doing me a favor. I would not recommend this place. The cost is not worth the product.
Dinner at the bar was great!
They always have great service and tonight I tried the Salmon
And it was really good!
Food was mediocre service was OK not what I expected for being rated best steakhouse in San Diego
Despite indoor reservations for 5, we were squeezed into a bar lounge table for 4. Constant crashing of bottles in bar trash bin made conversation nearly impossible. Side dishes were lukewarm and steak entrees were overdone and undersized.
Horrible. Miserable. We had a reservation at 6 waited almost 30 minutes before we had to flag down a busboy to find out if we had a server. We ordered drinks and the server showed up another 20 minutes later sweaty and clearly distracted constantly looking up at another table. Lots more but in the end we were there three hours got two drinks but mostly sat unattended. Brought the loooong waiting to our servers attention he offers us dessert we declined and he brought a check not discounted whatsoever actually he had a built in tip that was massive. We waited almost an hour for that lady drink and the second we signed the check they said they needed the table. THE WORST
Way overpriced for the quality of food. Service though was amazing.
Calamari was the worse I’ve ever eaten. Lobster Mac and cheese was super salty. Picked this place for wife’s birthday and it wasn’t a good experience
So I’m assuming that Greystone is supposed to be a premium experience. I brought in a group of 7. We shared a seafood platter. The shelf fish was tough and over cooked but tasty. The ribeye was good and cooked accurately, the salmon was good, and so was the chicken and lamb. There was just something missing for the price. The presentation was ok, but not amazing, and their wine list is really pricey.
They automatically added a 20% tip and 3.5% surcharge. Oh, and the stupid color changing LEDs at the bar are awful. There are a lot of top notch restaurants in San Diego county. I’m not sure I’d come here again.
Bartender made drinks so good my wife was legitimately befuddled. Amazing service
The side dishes were over cooked . I re Ordered another dish and it was also over cooked .
Very poor service , took a long time to even take our drink orders.
Food was marginal at best for a $400 meal.
Service was delayed by a lot of time. My party was waiting for our food for over an hour. We were all hungry and not to mention it was on the day of my birthday so my experience for the first time there just was not acceptable. Also, they precut my steak which i thought was odd. I was a bit disappointed overall.
Hands down the best service I have ever had at any restaurant and I am a huge foody!
I was a little late, but the hostess fit me in, even though they were extremely busy. They sat me right away, had water, there within 30 seconds, and two people Itsel (SP? Sorry Itsel) and Pedro noticed my table was wobbly, they tried to wedge it, but ultimately moved me to another table. My server Joanna was there right away and I ordered a glass of Chardonnay and she suggested a salad which was fresh and awesome.
Then their GM Sara came by and asked how everything was and took my order for filet mignon and 3 oysters (They only had in 6 or 12). The oysters were huge and fresh, the filet was very good for the type of restaurant space they had. Had a flight of the aged scotch to follow.
The ambience was off the hook, closed off streets, a lot of people, and tables were outside. It was a bit chilly but Pedro set out heaters. The whole team working there seemed to work well together and liked each other. What a great experience overall!
Excellent food and service! I went there with other family members and we all had a great dining experience with wonderfully prepared food, great service, and overall a great dining time!
The food was excellent, the service was exceptional. I will definitely be returning when I am in San Diego!
Great food great service good for birthdays and friendly people
We loved it. Food delicious, great customer service!
Amazing I loved it
Outdoor seating was not the best for the price of it the food. Very loud, and crowded. Definitely do not recommend if you’re looking for something more intimate, not worth it.
This was one of my first times going out to a nice dinner since I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Trying to dine out with a gluten allergy is quite the emotional and frustrating experience. Our waitress Lindsey was soo sweet and helpful which made the whole stressful part of dining out a lot easier and enjoyable. She went out of her way to make sure the items I ordered were gluten free. Our food was amazing! Our waitress even looked into what desserts were available for me to eat if I decided to order. When I wasn’t sure because the options weren’t something I’d usually order I said I’ld think about it. She came back to our table and actually told me she put a Gluten Free Chocolate Cake order in for me and it was on the house. She told me she’d tried it before and this it was really good, and she was right it was delicious! Her attentiveness and understanding of my dietary restriction made this dinner experience memorable and an amazing evening out with my husband. Thank you Lindsey for restoring my faith in dining out with CD.
Food was cold. Steaks were tough. Returned without eating.
excellent food and service ! prob was only one stall bathroom for each gender …
We ordered the 14oz bone in filet it had no flavor and was a bit dry. The 20oz bone in ribeye that I get was wat to buttery which over powered the paper and salt flavor not to mention the flavor of the meat itself. I ordered rare pluse buy when I cut into it it was pink and more on a medium temperature. The calamari w order for starters were way over fried and cold by the time it got to our table. It may have been sitting under a heat lamp for a period of time. The sides we got were ok. The asparagus was cooked perfect but the garlic mash potatoes was on the heavey salt side which took away from the flavor of the potatoes and garlic. The only positive waste oysters we ordered which were great and the glasses of cab he had with dinner.
I’ve been coming to Greystone for years. I always love to get it A5 Japanese Wagyu with a lobster tail. They have a great wines by the glass list and the bartenders Is always friendly.
Terrible service, food was 2x that of mastros and was cold, or burnt, or bad cuts of meat and poorly presented. Our tab was $1300 and we will not ever come back. 8 people now will not recommend your restaurant when we visit San Diego again
When you serve clam chowder it should be served hot or warm, not ice cold.
When you bring out asparagus with a cheese topping it should be warm and not cold and gelatinous. Additionally when you are asked to re-fire it, it is a polite way of saying make a new one. When you brought the dish back it was the same dish but the asparagus was black and burnt.
When you serve a filet to someone it’s expected to be a single cut of beef, not 3 separate pieces with connecting tissue. This $89 filet looked like a 1/2 tall price of skirt steak.
It was fine. Food was good, service was pretty good. All in all pretty good.
We have been going to Greystone for years and it is usually our favorite steak place in the area. However, the last 2 times we have gone, it has been mediocre at best. The staff is always amazing, but the food hasn’t been up to par. Sides were tasteless and almost everyone’s steak order was not cooked as requested. Add that to the 3.75% service charge (we’ve been told it’s a “protest”/response to minimum wage increases) and we are, sadly, taking Greystone off our “must go” list.
We came for my boyfriend’s birthday and we had a really nice time :) the service was great and the food was delicious
Greystone had a beautiful ambience and great food! The service was great and the staff knowledgeable.
For the price of the food I wasnt impressed at all. Very dry, little to no seasoning on food. Waiter was very nice, ambiance was magnificent but food not so great.
When we arrived they seemed to have lost our reservation. Lobster Mac was delicious 😋. Let's just say I think it was the best thing we ordered.
So, I was seated outside, which is what I requested. No problems there. Then, I was greeted my server and ordered a short time after. Dinner took just over 30 min to come out.. I got through just a little of my 8oz Filet Mignon noticed how dry it was beginning to taste and just how much I was chewing. I cut it open and it was insanely overcooked.. Dry overcooked... i showed my server, he could clearly see it and took it away. By that time , all the staff had cleared all the other outside tables and left. I was alone and started to really notice how unsafe I was.. Then this guy comes on to the patio and kept trying to stand directly behind me.. he kept walking crazy like he was drunk or on something and appeared to possibly be homeless.. I just kept turning around so he knew he couldn’t surprise me and literally holding my purse down because he was absolutely looking at me like he was going to try it. I literally had my steak knife in my hand and was thinking of what I was going to do. Then he goes inside and the staff bring him right out. One lady could see how scared I was; apologized and asked if I wanted to come inside. I of course said yes.. while my nerves were calming down. THEN, they bring me the replacement 8oz Filet and it looks like this. Also, the temp I asked for was “A touch over Medium.”
They said they had to “butterfly” it to cook it...
You should not be offering outdoor seating if it’s not safe. This was my 2nd Day in San Diego so I wasn’t familiar with the area.
We waited 25 minutes to be seated for our 8pm reservation. Our food took an hour to come after ordering. The waiter and manager were nice and tried to make up for it by giving us a free drink and appetizer, but we will not be dining here again. The hostess were horrible and rude.
We waited 50 min after our reservation to sit. After we sat down at 8:40, they said the kitchen was behind 1/2 hour
