Everything went well. Staff/servers were nice & provided my friends and i a great service. Food wise, everything tasted well. Definitely loved the bread they serve you while you wait! Tomahawk Steak medium rare was amazing! Cooked to perfection, seasoned well, juicy! Complimentary 4pcs of oysters if you check in on yelp and buy 2 drinks! Beef tartare was also good, bread that came with it was amazing. The beef itself was well seasoned, and the capers that was mixed with it complimented the raw taste of the meat. Definitely would come here again! And make sure to make a reservation!!

I was looking for a high quality steakhouse to take my bf to for a celebration dinner and looked all over the downtown area; I stumbled upon greystone while on Yelp and decided to make a reservation. Having worked in 5 star dining, I have to say this is one of the best restaurants in all categories that I’ve been to in SoCal. We got the 44oz porterhouse with bordelaise sauce, a baked potato, oysters, chocolate soufflé and a few drinks. Our server Michael was absolutely phenomenal in all aspects; we will definitely be back!!

Steak was OK. Very tough and rubbery. Taste was pleasant. I did not like the smell of the place as soon as I entered the restaurant. Smelt like a butcher store so felt completely nauseated. Creme Brulee was really bad. Felt stale and the sugar on top was hard as a rock and custard inside was cold.

New Year’s Eve dinner so restaurants are always stressed on such a busy night, but the staff was wonderful and the food was excellent. The Wagyu was pricey but absolutely wonderful and the sea bass was very well done. Will return on a non-holiday when we can take our time

We came here on NYE, first mistake. I had a reservation at 9:15. When we came at that time the hostess told us the manager overbooked that night and there were 4 other large parties waiting for tables and it might take 20-45 minutes. We decided to get a drink nearby and an hour later, I got a text saying our table was ready. When we walked back they told us that our table was given away and that we would need to wait another 30 minutes. Unacceptable. My friend spoke with the manager and we were magically sat right away after being told that our table was given up. Aside from this, the food was mediocre especially for the prices. The oysters were okay, mashed potatoes tasteless, and the steak was very chewy. The service was okay, but I didn’t expect much at a crowded restaurant on NYE. Overall, I would never go back to this restaurant. I cannot believe the manager thinks it’s okay to overbook on a night like this and make people wait an hour for a reservation that was already made. There are sooooo many better restaurants in San Diego and in the gas lamp area.

Reservamos para la cena de año nuevo, a pesar de que anunciaron tres opciones de menús para la cena, cuando llegamos no tenian esas opciones. Solo a la carta con pocas opciones a elegir. Hicimos la reservacion con más de 5 días de anticipación y al llegar muy puntuales la mesa que queriamos tenía una espera de 30 minutos, nos dieron la mesa que quisieron. Muy caro para lo que nos sirvieron, las porciones adecuadas.

Celebration for the new year, happy 2022!

Unbelievable staff, all working as a team.
Reservation at 7, we were seated at 6.50.
Drinks good, house wine very nice.
Had Brussel sprout Ceaser salad, 20 ounce bone in rib-eye, corn as the side. Everything Was great, will go back for sure.

Holiday seating, so pretty close, enjoyed meeting new people, and bringing the new year.

We dine out 4 or more times a week. It all starts with the hostess (which were supper here), then the wait staff and support team, again, first class here.

Book ahead, it’s worth having a great experience.

Our meal was just ok. I have had much better food at the same price point at other steakhouses. The steak was lacking flavor and had to be sent back to be cooked more. The lamb chops were not butchered very well and were difficult to eat. The wedge salad had a very good dressing and blue cheese. The rest was just simple and boring. My prawns and the bread were very good. Although the celery and olives cheapened the dish.

The service was excellent and we appreciated that.

It started off bad to begin with I made a reservation for 5pm and they were trying to sit me outside on this gloomy drizzling Christmas Day. I asked to sit inside and they told
me there wouldn't be any seating inside till 7pm. I made another reservation for 5:15pm for in door seating. Why couldn't they just seat me inside to begin with. I wait till a little past 5:30 to be seated.

They sat my bf and I in a very small table by the storage room.

When Mike took our drink order we already knew what we wanted so we placed our food order as well. Our appetizer came fairly quick, we were hungry and had to ask for bread... no one came to check on us... my water was near empty.... At this point we were trying to get Mikes attention or the Manager. Tables that were seated after us got their main entree. More than one table, a table or two and a table of 5. The tables got their entrees right after their appetizer. It was 45 mins after we finished our appetizer and still no main course this is unacceptable.

Mike did not seem to even care when we got up and walked down stairs where he was making small talk with his peers. My boyfriend asked if it takes over an hour to prepare our food and all he said was "I hope not" .
At this point there was no reason to even speak to the manager we left with empty stomachs heading back to LA. What a horrible Christmas Dinner.


If this is how you treat your patrons, you can guarantee you will never see me here again.

Christmas Day. We were a party of two. Steaks not cooked to our request or asked if they were.Brussel sprouts not cooked. Asked for our second glass of wine— didnt come until we were done so we sent back. Asked for the check three times…..were ignored at that point. Thats a no if we travel to San Diego again…..

Cena de navidad habíamos ya pasado un Año Nuevo aquí. Reservamos en Open Table a las 930 y la reserva fue aceptada. Llegamos 10 minutos antes y nos dijeron antes casi de sentarnos que pidiéramos de comer porque cerraban la cocina a las 930 Misma hora de la reserva. Comimos en justo una hora muy apresurado. Para una cuenta de 800 dlls la experiencia fue demasiado apresurada. Mi pregunta es porque aceptan reserva a la hora de cerrar cocina ? No es serio

Outdoor dining was not great not enough light or heaters. Appetizers took almost 45 min and steaks were tough and dry undercooked also. Tweezers trying to light cigarettes on heaters. The server and manger were nice. I think it was just a weird night.

The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas time. The food was delicious. The service was pretty good as well.

The menu online was very different that the actual menu in the restaurant so if you’re wanting seafood, I’d call ahead and ask.

Worst dining experience I ever had, 100% due to waiters not wearing masks, violating CA law, & then confronting me for complaining.

All started well. But just as we were served our entrée, two servers enter the dining room not wearing masks, standing very close to the guests. As long as they stayed distanced from us, we were not going to say anything. But, one of these servers tried to refill our water. I asked him to step away because he was maskless. He snapped the gator around his neck saying "oh you mean this?" I asked him to please step away. He lingered, staring, then rolled his eyes & walked away. When our server came back, she was apologetic and said she would ask the others to wear their masks. Two minutes later, the other server "Michael" came over to our table (maskless) demanding to know why we had a problem with him not wearing a mask. He said, "well, you're not wearing a mask." I responded that it is the current law in CA and I can't eat while wearing a mask. I had to ask him to walk away three times before he finally he did. 20 seconds later, he came back again, still maskless and said, "Why do you have a problem with me?" We should've just left but I was determined to speak w/ a manager. Eventually, we spoke with an asst. manager, "Chris." I told the story, and said that we were on the verge of tears and just wanted to take care of our server, the bill and leave. Chris came back, said he was gifting us a bottle of the wine & applying a 25% discount. He gave us the contact info of the Dir. of Operations (Sara), saying she would be apprised of the situation and would contact us. We left.

Once home I tried to write an OT review, but the reservation was "Canceled by restaurant" so I was unable to. When I called to ask about it, Chris told me he didn't *think* anything was wrong and I should be able to write the review as it was listed active on his end. It was not. I had to contact OT to un-cancel so I could write this review.No call yet from Sara.

Thank you Greystone for an amazing first time experience! We dined inside, upstairs and there was a great energy throughout the entire venue. Our server was so patient with our particular cocktail order. I had the smokey spritzer and my partner enjoyed Mezcal on the rocks. I had the salmon special with carrots and broccolini and he had the Rib eye. Both were phenomenal, cooked to perfection. We will certainly be back - thanks for a great date night!

We were seated and given menus, and the waiter stopped by to introduce himself. We didn’t see him again for 25 minutes, and that only after asking for him. Afterward, service became officious and intrusive, with the waiter and another waiter stopping by constantly to interrupt and ask how things were. We ordered lobster ravioli and wild mushrooms. The ravioli was acceptable, but the mushrooms were served lukewarm, and unevenly cooked with some much too chewy and some overdone. Just a heads up, navigating the restaurant inside involves stairs up or down to dining areas, which may prove difficult for people with mobility issues.

Had a special and important business dinner with important clients that had to go perfect. The Greystone, set our party up in an isolated dining area and had one of their most experienced wait staff to serve us. From the start of the event, from opening drinks, appetizers, main course with sides and desserts; it could not have gone off better. Our clients, who travel to San Diego a lot stated, "this is the best meal that we have ever had in San Diego". They were extremely happy that we planned to have the event at Greystone. Special thanks to our server, Alex for his attention to detail and providing a flawless dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion. Many Thanks!

Thanksgiving night was a total unorganized mess. Even the manager didn’t know what was going on. Tables were so crowded and cramped. Food was good but service and experience were terrible.
