It was for a birthday dinner but was rushed eating and paying bc food took a while to come out and it was a curfew due to Covid curfew in San Diego. We have a little over an hour once we got there and ordered as soon as seated but was only left with 15 minutes to eat. The host tried to accommodate as much as possible but the waitress was extremely rude constantly skipping over guest in my party. Also another issue was that a few of us ordered the same foods and got completely different bills. .. not sure what that was about. Wish I could experience the restaurant in a more relaxed environment but the service and bills were so off. I don’t think I’m willing to.
Our dinner was fantastic, everything was delicious, except the baked potatoes they just didn't seem fresh, I sent it back and the next one was not really any better. I do have to say our waitress was amazing and we had a wonderful evening. Was completely worth it.
The food was really amazing and the drive was really great as well I would definitely come back
Was cancelled from my reservation & never got a call or message from the business. Went straight to voice-mail when I tried to contact restaurant
Had a reservation and after being seated the wait for our food was ridiculous. We sat for nearly an hour before being given bread and an hour and a half before receiving the preset first course meal. When we received the food portions were small and food was not impressive at all, especially for the price. Both of our steaks were not cooked medium well as we requested, very raw and not flavored through the cut. $12 for a side that was less than the average palm size. Both the spinach and mashed potato “Purée” were underwhelming. Tasted like boxed potatoes with garlic salt. Cheesecake had to be the worst as it was crumbly and not creamy at all, felt like it was partially frozen. By far the best part of the dining experience were the overpriced alcoholic beverages.
Over priced, only saw the waiter 4 times, served on dirty dishes, food was inaccurate and poorly cooked.
Super busy for valentine's day took about 30-45 to get our food. Spent 2 hours just to order get my drink, dinner and dessert. Overall it was great just not the wait
Food was cold. They set our table next to a busy stairway.
I am not experienced fine dining expert but it was one of the best meals we have ever had
My family and I showed up and had to wait to be seated. Once seated we waited 30 minutes for our drinks and an hour for our food. I was seated with someone directly behind me and not 6 feet away. The food was lousy and extremely over priced. Let just say from start to finish we were there for over 2 hours just for dinner. Our dirty dishes sat on our table for an extended period of time before I had to tell someone to take them away. The service was terrible and seriously overbooked. I was totally fooled by their website and will never go there again. I will never go back to this place nor would I recommend this restaurant to anyone in the San Diego area.
We had a horrible experience. They don’t have great service at all. We had reservations for Valentine’s Day and was seated right away. We had our waiter get our drinks and was served some bread. Other guest were sitting around us. As we were waiting on our first entree after about an hour of sitting there with drinks. We still did not get served not once. Others around us came and ate and left and new guest came and enjoyed there Valentines dinner and we still did not get served food at all. They were not organized and never once did a manager come and ask how we were doing or see where our food was at all. When we finally decided to leave we asked for a manager that never came. An when we did find a manager to talk too she was not sympathetic or sorry at all. She just said ok and continued working. You have horrible service especially when you have reservations. We will never recommend your restaurant to anyone.
One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in any restaurant
We waited 20mins past our 5pm reservation to sit inside, we asked for a wine menu and watched out waiter take orders from the tables on both sides of us, these tables were sat 10 minutes after us. It took 15 minutes to bring our bottle of wine as we watched other waiters going by there table multiple times to refill their guests glasses. Our food came out within a decent time. We ordered the filet mignon which was great. For sides we ordered mashed potatoes and cream of spinach. The mashed potatoes had the texture of boxed mashed potatoes. My wife works for a hospital and said this is exactly what we serve, gross. The spinach came out sautéed with no cream. The waiter said he would take that off the bill instead of remaking it because it would take to long... that was a poor excuse and a reason to turn our table. Very disappointed in this first experience and we don’t plan on ever dining here again. When you spend a few hundred dollars for a dinner there are higher much expectations
Great experience! Thank you allowing me to sit & have dinner with my friend Lisa Lam who also had a reservation there.
Our waitress was amazing, thank you for offering to place my sweets in the restaurant’s refrigerator.
Food tasted amazing! I will definitely be back to dine here again.
Overall service was was great, the atmosphere/ambiance was perfect for Valentine’s Dinner especially during a pandemic and I like the social distance -
Food was fantastic
However a 2 hour wait
Some how several tables were
Not serviced very well
The Valentines Day menu was different than the one I originally made reservations for.
I was very disappointed to see Wagyu was not an option, as it previously was on the menu.
Then my partner asked for his steak cooked medium, to which they said they were only offering medium-rare and medium-well. I was astonished a steakhouse couldn't prepare a medium steak. Very underwhelmed with our first experience here, and probably won't be back.
As a restaurant that says their speciality is steaks, I was very much not impressed. I could have easily made this steak better from home. Took waiter 15 mins to bring us plates for the bread and 10 mins to refill my water. Granted they were very busy so I give them Benefit of the doubt. I ordered a medium rare steak, the steak came to me medium well. Steak was so tough I choked on the steak while trying to swallow it. Ruined my entire dinner I couldn’t eat another bite. I literally choked on it. I would never come to this place ever again. Claim to fame is the steaks and I would have rather went to Applebee’s to get one. Everything was ridiculously over priced as well! If it was real dry aged steak I probably wouldn’t have mind. It was Grade D steak at best. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT A GOOD STEAK!
Went on Valentine’s Day the menu was set- however my steak was tough and chewy, creamed spinach barely creamed. The drinks were great! Desserts were average. My server could have definitely been more attentive even just checking in though food was not ready.
I went there for valentines day. They have a set menu for you to choose from. The food was okay, not worth $89/ per person though.
Let me start with what was good about the place before I go any further. The young lady who greeted us was sweet and prompt. The Valentines Day decor was cute and festive for the occasion. The gentleman who came around to refill our water and provide us with our entrees was very polite and efficient. Now for what was bad. To be blunt, the food was subpar and we both ended up sick by the time night was over. Due to being Valentines we had to adhere to a specific menu for $89 a person. I chose a Cesar salad that consisted of 4 leafs of Romain topped with some dressing, for our main meal we both chose the "prime cut" new your steak. It had no taste and was so chewy a steak knife had trouble cutting through that bad boy. The time frame between our plates being picked up and getting our frozen desserts of lemon cake and Costco cheesecake was about 40 minutes. The funny thing is we're were only given a 90 minute window to be there. We were originally rushed out when the lady who came around realized we were still waiting for dessert. Trust me neither one of us was trying to hang around there by this time. We took one bite of our dessert and decided to call in quits when our desserts were still frozen. Before our check came, I was already sick in the bathroom there, while my other half lucked out and got sick when we got home. Needless to say we will not be going back. I was disappointed because I had heard good things about this place.. I do not agree with them being selected as best steak place. I could have made a better steak on a rock in the wilderness.
This was a limit menu for Valentine’s Day. It was advertised at $85/pp, with releasing the menu. In the Restaraunt it was actually $89.99/pp + a 3.75% fee (+ tax + tip which we expected). The entree was stand alone without any sides. Overall the food was average, no balance for the palette, and extremely overpriced. Also, the Restaraunt was packed, no distancing with inside and outside seating. I’ve got thick skin on distancing, but was uncomfortable. Lastly, our server did not listen well. I asked him 3x about the side dishes, never once getting a coherent answer. I feel for the owners, surviving through Covid, but taking advantage of patrons is never acceptable. 2 diners, 1 beverage each was $275 total - outrageous for what we experienced.
I’m not a complainer, but this was Valentines Day, and expected less drama, better service and a fairly priced meal. Please take this as constructive criticism - that is how it is offered.
It was valentines day and it's during covid but they let some places have people sit inside so all that considered it wasn't a bad experience.
My husband and I came here for the first time on Valentine's Day and was both sadly disappointed. For starters, the tables were pre-set. Our table cover was dirty, the glasses were dusty and my pre-set utensils were missing a fork. The food took long to come and by the time it got to our table, it was cold and dry. The service is hard to get, the waiters kept bumping into everyone's tables and dropping things. The lights were not on other than the single candle on the tables. So the room was dark, the restaurant was very loud, there was food under the tables, the vent right above the table was hanging dust. Everything was so disgusting. I tried to ask for a fork but was ignored by many passing waiters. I eventually used my husband's fork but a waiter bumped into our table and dropped the only fork we had for the table. The waiter did not apologize or acknowledge that he even bumped into our table. Overall experience was horrible. I wanted a reservation here for Valentine's Day based off of pictures and reviews but was highly disappointed. For a $$$ dinner, I thought the food, service and ambience would have been better than a regular food chain restaurant but it wasn't. I would not come back here again and would not recommend anyone else to come here.
Our service was excellent. We were not aware it was a Valentine's Day menu only.
Hope to return soon , will recommend to my friends & family
Paid $400 for no food! Do not go on Valentine’s Day they had no variety of food and we were not informed of this. Our steak did not come with any sides or anything! Had to pay for the sides and they only had 3 sides and they were super little!
This was an utterly despicable and disappointing experience. This was meant to be a semi-elegant Valentine’s Day dinner, but ended up being a disaster. The restaurant advertises themselves to be flawless, but I honestly cannot say one positive thing about our experience.
The seating arrangements placed us outside near the street with heavy foot traffic while other patrons were able to dine inside or in an enclosed area away from the public while being able sit at their own comfort and enjoy their experience. We were met through the entire duration of our visit with people constantly bumping into us, talking and yelling over our shoulders and stepping on our feet, hitting our table. The seating was not due to Covid since the entire inside dining was full. Since we had reservations well in advance, we figured our experience in this matter would be better. Each dinner menu was $90/person for the day, so regardless of your seating, everyone paid the same price for a different experience.
Our order of oysters did not come until we’ll after 40 minutes of our request, and our food taking almost twice as long as we waited patiently. Our server did apologize and they all seemed very frantic due to the over-capacity. This restaurant overbooked intentionally, but at the cost of its servers and patrons.
The we ordered 2 steaks (med. w & med r) which both came cold and overcooked a full tier. We are both highly dissatisfied with our visit and will not be returning.
Beyond disappointing. Reserved a special night for my wife’s birthday and noted special occasion on reservation. Not one mention of it from anyone on staff. Seated promptly and waited 20 minutes for drinks then brought my wife wrong beverage. Found out they had fixed menu although website led me to believe fixed was only for Valentine’s Day. Ordered and waited 30 minutes for salads to show up while a homeless person parked near our table and played music and sang for money. Asked for bread and they said would be right back with some but it never came. Main course came and wife’s prime steak was raw (ordered medium). Helper delivered food and when waiter checked back 15 min later I advised he forgot the mushrooms we ordered and just to remove from bill. Asked for desert and check. Wife’s cheesecake tasted like it came out of Vons freezer section. Tables packed tightly and waiter mostly invisible. I know Covid makes things hard but this was horrendous. Never again!
My husband and I had a great experience here! It was beautifully decorated for Valentine’s Day & every dish they served us was amazing. Will definitely come back again
We only thought the salmon and bread we ordered were great
One of the worst steaks I’ve ever had and one of the most expensive dinners I’ve ever paid for. Disappointing Valentines Special.
Also OpenTable said they would have the full menu available which they did not and only offered a 3-course meal.
Busy for the times but great experience. Servers were a delight.
Ashley our hostess an server was awesome. However our wait time for our main course was way to long as people came and went while we waited. My steak was over cooked an my wife's was undercooked. Would of sent them back but after our wait we were starving. Although not cooked properly our steaks were of good quality and tender. Lobster mac &cheese and shrimp cocktail was amazing.
Food was at best, average. Our party of four were all disappointed with the entrees' and I doubt any of will be back.
Steak was not nearly as tasty as hoped for. Service was great. Veggies were not kind of soft. Wine was ok. Wouldn’t go again.
Great food, great service, great staff! COVID friendly. Would come again.
All I can say is that every time I dine here it is fantastic!
The service , food and ambiance are wonderful!
The staff are on top of Covid protocol too! You will Feel safe here!
The steaks and seafood are always so good!
Gotta try their Mac &Cheese!
And Wow! They know how to make you feel Special
On your Birthday! Giant sparklers on your slice they bring you !
Thank you and see you again soon!
Greystone is amazing!! By far the best steakhouse in the Gaslamp. We had the Japanese Wagyu, Bone In Ribeye and added lobster tails. Everything was divine and the service and ambiance were impeccable. We’ll be back!!
