Greendale Farm Shop Cafe and Restaurant
Once you've eaten why not take a stroll along our family farm trail. The trails follow a level path that’s just right for pushchairs and little legs; you can potter over to feed the friendly chickens and ducks, visit Oscar the curious Ostrich and maybe take our vintage tractors for an imaginary ‘test drive’.

Staff very friendly and efficient. Three of us had fish and chips which were good. My grand daughter had cottage pie, which was tasty but very insipid looking. Spoiled by a white topping! A quick blast under a grill would have transformed it! Free desserts on a Thursday! So we all had something different. All were excellent! A reasonable priced meal in a lovely situation. Glorious sunset added another pleasure to our evening.
Good food. Popular place so busy. I did request a table with space around outside due to a health condition. We had to ask to swap table from the one assigned to us which they did. Lovely bacon, brie and cranberry panini with crisps and salad leaves.
Excellent as usual but you do need more staff. We were in no hurry at all but some people were not patient.
We eat here at least once a week. We haven't been disappointed yet. Wide choice of fish and meat dishes and veggie options. Good value and we can take our dog which is important to us.
Always enjoy dining out at Greendale . Food good and varied choice to suit everyone , service good and staff efficient and helpful .
I hope that they were short staffed as there were numerous points that weren’t right last night.
Drinks were very slow, alcoholic drinks came and then we waited 10 more mins for coke/similar sift drinks. Dishes arrived with missing parts, paid extra for coleslaw that arrived in a tiny paper pot, I queried this as I had paid extra, they then bought me a slightly bigger pot with the equivalent of a dessert spoon full of ‘slaw (£1.95!). Chips were just warm and were also all vey small and bitty, no decent sized chips.
Asked for a water jug, it arrived with plastic glasses that were cloudy and unappealing to drink from as they had obviously been through the dishwasher too many times.
Table next to us wasn’t cleared for the whole time we were there.
Onion rings were over cooked and dry and looked like they were just very standard cheap frozen ones such as you would buy from a supermarket
The whole evening was disappointing, we booked this well in advance and were looking forward to eating at Greendale.
Have been quite a few times and always been good, but last visit was very disappointing. Fish & chips…. The fish was average and chips were not fresh and they were cold. Staff all great.
I love coming here, it really is amazing, the waiters didn’t really know where they were going and who had been served but service was amazing, the food is always top quality and will be back soon with more family
Nice breakfast, pleasant staff, lovely setting. Easy access
We all had a roast lunch. The food wasn't that hot, although plates were warm....the toast potatoes weren't crispy, maybe because they had been kept warm ready to plate up.....
We had a later table at 2-15pm as was the earliest available. Wish we could have got in earlier as maybe the meal would have been more enjoyable.
Will try again another time and hopefully a better roast...
Had roast as we show it last week but will not order again. Beef chewy, swede too runny and roast potatoes tasted they were re heated. But every time before was great and never had anything negative to say before. Just give it ago
read some bad reviews, but we found the staff cheerful, service first class , food very good and price ok, would def book again
The only issue we had was that the food came out at different times and 2 members of the group had almost finished their food before mine came out and then we had to wait for the toast which should’ve come out at the same time . Apart from this it was OK ✅
Excellent food and a great setting. The kids fun too! We will return
Food was very tasty service was very prompt. Love the heat lamps above table.
Fantastic food as always. It is definitely our place to go, we love it there.
We came because I was sent an email boasting a new menu?
Got overlooked by waitress who proceeded to take an order from the table beside us
Same old menu that could do with updating!
Been too many times !
The last time we were disappointed so we upped and left without ordering
We had pre booked but still had to wait , asked for a inside seat due to a elderly disabled person with us and was sat outside , looked at menu before we attended and then their were no jacket potato available ( a staple food surely !)
Was told would be a 45 min wait but food we eventually managed to order came quickly and was very nice , staff were lovley
food is excellent wide choice of food we had fish and chips best we have tasted
Food was amazing. Great value for money and good service
Although the waitress got the order wrong despite noting our request, the food was very good. Quite a busy session and although food was served by an attentive waiter, not easy to get the attention of staff. We would visit again though.
Service is terrible. So slow. We had to eventually ask if we could order
I come to greendale often. On this occasion I brought my work colleagues for cake and coffee. After being served it took 45 minutes to get our drinks and cakes. Service at greendale is shocking. I've been up for a drink out of the cafe previously and it took 25 minutes to be served at the till with only 2 people in front of me. Its very slow, a lot of young people working there and no one seems to be in charge. They just hover near the coffee machine whilst customers are just waiting around. It's painful.
We had always passed by on our way to Cornwall but this time we booked for lunch.
We weren’t disappointed we had scallops with salad and a crab sandwich.
The portions were generous and delicious.
We will certainly eat here again.
Seated at our table outside after booking and were told it is full table service. After 15 minutes no one had come over to take our order let alone offer a drinks order. Staff were quick enough to clear dirty tables but not to take anyone’s order. We asked the host if someone would come over and she said she would go and get someone. 5 minutes later a girl came over to take the order of the 2 tables sat opposite us that had only been sat for 10 minutes or less. We asked if she could take our order and were told yet again that they would go and get someone. Finally someone came and took our order after been sat for 25 minutes. Had it have taken any longer I would have left as we had somewhere to be. When food eventually came out it wasn’t even that warm or tasty. I won’t be rushing back after poor service this time and the last time we came our order was wrong and my partner was given mushrooms on his plate that he is allergic too. When asked to take it back, they literally just took the mushroom off of the plate and sent it straight back out to him. After telling them that I said you need to recook the entire meal as the mushroom has touched the rest of his food. Clearly don’t take allergy or intolerance orders seriously. I wasn’t going to say anything until yesterday happened and now it makes me feel like we don’t want to come back.
Service was incredibly slow, staff were polite but appeared inadequately trained. We could hear customer after customer around us experiencing the same issues and enquiring when food would arrive. Food itself could have been so much better with the produce available on the doorstep in the farm shop. The chips were cold. Mismatch of uncomfortable chairs and roadside cafe style tables let down the lovely decked area. Could be so much nicer, get your directors to come and experience this for themselves & see the huge opportunity you are missing. Unless things improve I would not recommend.
Lovely fresh food and great service ! They also sell amazing fresh meat and veg in the shop next door
Could be so much better!
Fine, if you want takeaway fish and chips but the 'restaurant' is lacking any ambiance and looks tatty.
The seats in the open dining area are uncomfortable and far too low compared to the tables.
Food - we had a start of scallops followed by grilled fish and chips. The scallops were fine but the dish was filled with bits of bacon and lots of limp salad. It's not difficult to make a dish like that attractive...
Sea bass fillet was overcooked and dry. The hake fillet was the smallest and thinnest they could have cut from the tail of the fish. It was not well cooked and slimy in texture. Both plates had a lot of salad leaves 'garnish' dumped on the plate with no dressing. They should never serve undressed salad..
Service - slow, but understandable under current circumstances. Staff were friendly and helpful and doing their best.
It is a shame that the evening was disappointing as we love the concept, location and Greendales in general. We will be back and will try the restaurant again. We both said after spending £46 that we should just have had a takeaway!
The Cafe a Restaurant could be brilliant with a few tweaks and more management input.
I go to greendale regularly but this is the first time I’ve eaten there in the evening. The service was very slow, my cider wasn’t cold, my daughter had soup but didn’t have a spoon for 15 mins or so. Our dishes were left on the table for what seemed like a long time. Yet when I asked for the bill that was promptly given!!
Didn’t even get as far as table because despite booking an outdoor table in advance was told that the booking could not be guaranteed.
There were unoccupied tables outside and I explained that as I was undergoing chemotherapy I would need an outside table. I was told that they would try and squeeze me in - I’m afraid that defeats the object of socially distancing outside.
Couldn’t even offer a takeaway coffee. Good job they have concessions on site that we’re only too happy to serve us in a paper cup at a picnic table. Not quite the dining experience we had booked.
Not sure owners are even bothered as their social media team only ‘like’ the good reviews and ignore the bad ones - of which there are many.
Very friendly and very quick service. The full breakfast is always good.
Enjoyable food, great value with good service, the food arrived promptly
The farm shop was amazing, the food was also :) only thing that let it down was the sta
Enjoyed breakfast there in comfortable surroundings. Staff attentive and coffee excellent.
Food quality very good, unfortunately service was not so great, items missing from order when staff told staff pointed at table and claimed we had already had the item (extra toast had arrived, toast that came with breakfast missing) spoilt breakfast a little as most of meal finished when toast arrived. No friendly greeting on arrival and payment service very robotic. Disappointing compared to last visit.
Absolutely enjoyable experience. It was my mother in law’s birthday treat & she throughly enjoyed herself.
The service was excellent. We will definitely be booking again.
Service was extremely slow and no one seemed to know what they were doing! After an hour the food came and it was very nice. But had to constantly keep asking for things!
Nice venue and restaurant with a great view. Delicious Beef 🍔 best to date. Farm shop well stocked with the usual stuff but some interesting food and drinks.
Loved the outdoor seating area with views over the countryside. Service was good. I went for the roast dinner but was a bit disappointed by the meat as they have their own butchery and you can see the sides if beef hanging up in their chiller but sadly the roast beef was quite tasteless. And the roast potatoes looked and tasted as if they were deep fried rather than proper roasties so again a lack of flavour. 😕
The food was fine but the service was poor. Seemed short staffed no one clearing the tables.
