If one closes their eyes, the entire dining experience, from food to beverage to noise level, reminds one of an Applebee’s about 8:30pm on a Tuesday
Sam was one of the best servers that I had ever had there or anyplace! He made my better half and I feel very comfortable and seemed very excited and his energy came off in a positive manner and made us smile as well! Sam is a great server, and one of the better ones I had had at anyplace that we have eaten in the past few years! He made a simple evening out feel like it was only us 2 in the restaurant! KUDO's
Food did not stand out. Very noisy. Just didn’t do it for us
Our waitress was AMAZING - the best I about have ever had. The food as always was wonderful. however, the space is old, outdated, and the tables are FAR too small for 4 people, with appetizers, beer flights, plates & bowls. Redecorate - and your ratings will go up.
We had been to Granite City in Fargo, which was very classy & had excellent service. The mood there was low-lit, elegant & romantic. This one was comparable to an overpriced Applebee’s. We came here for Valentine’s dinner & were both in formal attire. I immediately felt overdressed as everyone else, including the servers, were wearing street clothes. We were seated in a side room which was bright & isolated from any attempt at a moody ambiance. We both ordered center-cut filet, garlic mashed potatoes & green beans almondine all of which came out subpar. The steak was overcooked & dry, potatoes were dry & cold, & the beans were sad & limp. Server was kind & helpful, but a little much. He seemed to over-explain every item we asked about, lacked regard to personal space & had terribly bad breath ☠️ Dessert was very good, I ordered the cheesecake & my fiancé had an ice cream sundae. Overall, not impressed with the food at all & am disappointed considering our expectations for a special, romantic dinner.
We have been to Granite City before, but for Valentine's Day it was OVER the TOP. In the past we went elsewhere and were not happy with the food there. Since we have been to Granite City, Valentine's Day is the destination. We will be back next year!!!!
Great service, atmosphere was nice. Food was great.
Our server was great and personable. The food was delicious!
We had a group of 10 plus a toddler for brunch. The service we received was top notch, and the food was amazing. Everyone was impressed!
I would recommend Granite City for regular dining. But not for Sunday Brunch. We arrived at 1 and by 1:15 they were out of shrimp and butter milk chicken. The prime rib was delicious and that was gone before 1:30 We were seated at a table that was broken down on one side, no silverware, and and service was slow.
Our server was kind, good, but he had a big section to cover.
Thanks for asking
My husband and son in law’s birthdays.
One of our work groups went there on 1/29/20 with a group of 10. Nice atmosphere for lunch.
Love the food, great value, too noisy for conversation with my elderly aunties. Will look for place with similar food/prices, but quieter environment. Maybe GC can make a quiet room for those who request it? I felt sorry for my dear aunties who were so embarrassed to have to keep saying, “what?”
Birthday Brunch service was great and food was great!
Service was just Ok. The place was very busy with customers having Bruch. The food off the menu was good.
We were seated in an area that was having a heating issue. With 5 kids I know why they sat us where they did but it would have been nice to be given the option of choosing somewhere with adequate heat on a 12 degree day. It was freezing and we were moved once we asked. Food and service were mediocre at best.
Not sure I would recommend. Bartender was slow and drinks were poorly put together. Food okay.
We booked 8 people for a birthday dinner and we were crammed into a booth very disappointing
One of our plates was very late. And the shrimp were left off one of the other.
Great Food and Great Service. The buffet brunch is amazing.
Good restaurant for a quick dinner. I had the Maple Pepper Bacon Burger. The flavor was very good. It had garlic aioli which didn't add as much flavor as I thought it would but the meat was very good. My husband had the El Cubano sandwich. It was okay but it needed more sauce. It lacked flavor and the bun should have been toasted. It was a bit soggy. The waitress was attentive and very pleasant.
Our server was very attentive and friendly - he was the best part of the experience. The menu is huge, and I think that between the 7 of us, we ordered from every section of the menu. The food was okay - nothing spectacular. The drinks were good, but expensive. 3 of us had "mini" creme brulee for dessert, and it was very good. Overall, I think the prices are a little high for the food and drinks.
It was very busy during our New Year’s Day brunch visit but the food was replenished very well and our server Mara was excellent.
Our service was awesome!
Half my food was cold and my steak was super salty. Our server wasn’t 100% attentive. We didn’t get, nor were we asked if we wanted refills. We had a gift card which the server ran and brought us the remaining amount due. My dining companion had their credit card out, but our server walked away and never returned. Between the two of us, we had enough cash to pay the remaining amount and a tip. Overall frustrating.
We had reservations and the hostess sat us down. The waiter took our drink order and when she brought the drink ms she told us the kitchen was down! They could only serve us soup and salad! Why didn’t the hostess tell us that when we arrived, we would have went to a different restaurant.
Waited 25 minutes past our reservation time... but food and service were perfect thank you to your staff that worked on Christmas Eve!
We're fans of Granite City but extremely disappointed by this Christmas Eve visit. We changed our reservations to 4 people at 6:00. We arrived early and were told to eat right away as the food is almost out. You advertised until 8:00. Buffet line boring, not maintained, dirty and unattractive. Prime Rib and Mac and Cheese good, rest of food fair. Service friendly but not very attentive. Half way through my meal when my fist beer arrived though ordered when sat. Spent 35 years the hospitality business and like I said, have always been a big fan of Granite City. This experience along with other inconsistent prior visits may be he reason for your current financial troubles. Hoping you guys can get through this and be the awesome restaurant company you once were! Good luck!
Sunday buffet was great
Breakfast was very good. Service was excellent. We will be back again.
I usually end up at the Eagan Granite City a couple times of year just because it's central to where I meet with many of my friends. It consistently has extremely poor (VERY SLOW) service, and barely average food. This time, my flatbread was cold when I got it (but I didn't send it back because we had waited almost an hour anyways). The waitress kept forgetting to get our drinks. It really isn't unexpected at this point, but I wonder how they are still there. If you are having some Granite City 'craving', I'd highly suggest driving to the location in Roseville. Much better service and the food is better.
Food was great. Server was horrible. Took forever to get drinks, for her to take our order. We asked for more water, never got it, took forever to get second drinks.
I "secured" a registration from Open Table and when I arrived, they had no record of it. Fortunately they were able to seat us at the 6:15 time slot. I was greatly disappointed that our reservation through your service was useless. I now have significant doubts about using open table for future reservations.
Here are the reservation details that failed to make it to Granite City, Eagan MN for Friday Dec 13.

Name: Gerald Baltrusch

Granite citys food and service was good as expected but for some reason it was pretty cold in the restaurant or at least where my wife and I sat, decent draft the whole meal which cooled my potatoes and steak at a unexpected rate. Food was still good but wish it wasnt as cold as it was in the restaurant.
Food was cold, drinks took 25-30 minutes, never even brought one of the drinks ordered. Very slow service. They were busy so you would have thought you would have at least warm food with the food runners they had.
Mara was a great server.
Went for Thanksgiving, they were out of sweet potatoes and stuffing, and the kitchen closed out of food entirely while we were there. Staff was busting their tails and made the best of a bad situation though.
good food with lots of leftovers to take home. Thank you.
Thanksgiving meal was wonderful and so was our server. Would love to go again.
