   Can’t comment on the food as we didn’t stay. The general appearance is tired and old , and very old fashioned, not at all like the pictures We were taken upstairs to a table, a large floor with more staff than clientele and with no atmosphere . It was our last day in Paris, I didn’t want this to be my last memory! It may have more atmosphere in the evening, we won’t be going back to find out

   Avec mon compagnon, nous avions réservé une table pour le soir du nouvel an. Quand bien même nous avons réservé plusieurs mois à l’avance, nous n’avons pas pu bénéficier des meilleurs tables du restaurant. Nous étions installé sur des chaises en paille et étions les uns sur les autres. Malgré un service très rapide où les plats étaient envoyés à la suite des autres, nous avons eu un serveur réactif et sympathique. Nous avons ressenti une équipe assez stressée et de ce fait, pas toujours agréable. Le fond sonore était plus ou moins bruyant, et il me semble qu’il n’y avait pourtant pas de musique, ce qui est dommage dans une telle brasserie et un soir de fête.

    Really slow service, lack of attention. Lady on the entrance behaved like she was working there for punishment. Food arrived almost cold, serving of main course was really poor. We left annoyed and not satisfied. Will not go back again.

    Nothing else was available and it was a last minute booking, but they took care of us. The service was very friendly and patient with the fact that we didn’t speak French and guided us through the menu. We ate upstairs where the decor feels a bit dated, but in a charming in an old world Paris sort of way. The food was solid. Not necessarily amazing, but it well priced for the area. All in all, we enjoyed a nice relaxed dinner and if you’re having trouble finding a reservation at a hot new restaurant, try this old standard… it’s a big restaurant and they had availability all night from 6pm on and they are open late.

    Experience was not aligned with prior user reviews. Maybe off night, but overall experience was pedestrian. Food server made the difference but not enough to compensate for overall lack of this, that and the other. Bad reaction to the oysters and it was a long night with no sleep. As always regarding this item, beware. One and done.

    Pretty much a typical French cafe with indoor seating and seating at the sidewalk. It was pleasant. The staff was very good - attentive, friendly, and informed. The restaurant was comfortable, pleasant and clean, open to the street so even the inside seats could have a street view if desired. The food was well prepared (it’s a seafood restaurant so we had the fish of the day). It was reasonably priced for the plat du jour. We would come again.

    Just Ok. It is a bit expensive compared to other restaurants. Their reservation system is not liked to OpenTable . I had to show them my confirmation email (despite them being empty).

    Overprice for the food that doesn’t come close to what true French food looks or taste like. The waitress acted as she was doing us a favor. Our recommendation is to avoid this place and walk to any small place in a city and we can guarantee the the food will be better and the staff will be nice. Oh - French onion soup tested like water, steak was done as medium/ well even that we have asked for medium rare

    Greeted by name and escorted to our table. We were given English menus and exclusions were explained. Our waiter was friendly but courteous and took our order after a suitable time for study. Our starter seafood platter was spectacular in both presentation and content and our server volunteered to take our photo with it. Main courses followed with my kidneys flambéed near our table by the maitre d’hotel. Both dishes were delicious and our accompanying bottle of Pouilly fussée was very good. Finally, we had a crème brûlée to share. It was among the best I have had!

    They seated a couple without a reservation before us. We then waited ten minutes for a table. The shrimp is a bowl of really, really tiny shrimp with the heads and tails still on. Maybe that’s your thing - it wasn’t for us. We found a strange little fish in our shrimp bowl. I asked the waitress what it was, and she literally gave a muffled half-scream and ran off. The other waiter said that sometimes other animals get caught in the shrimp net. The crab is a whole crab cut in half with the cooked guts, etc still inside.

    Wanted to experience a historic grand cafe along the “Grands Boulevard “. Le Grand Cafe Capucines dates back to 1875. For me, it was an ok experience. Lively interior dining room, but wasn’t my style. Service was efficient but abrupt (not rude). Opted for the “Menu Opera” which is a fixed menu at €19,5 (initially menu wasn’t offered unless requested). I wasn’t very hungry and wanted a simpler dinner. Started with the Assiette Marine (3 oysters and whelks); and Escalope de Saumon with spinach for the main which was very good and really the highlight of the experience.

    I love this restaurant. I was here with a friend about 10 yeas ago, so I wasn't sure how our experience would compare. That first time, I ordered a salmon dish that I have been trying to duplicate at home ever since. That dish is no longer on the menu, but what I ordered was excellent. The Grand Cafe Capucines specializes in seafood and their selection is outstanding. We were early for our reservation (our timing was off because of the transportation strike), and while the hostess had trouble finding our reservation, she was very gracious and seated us immediately. I highly recommend the Grand Cafe Capucines!

    The food and wine service was badly timed (food came first), the risotto was krispy to chew (not merely al dente, but crunchy!), and after it was sent back they forgot to bring anything new or even ask if we wanted something different. We had to ask (after 20mins) if they were going to serve the risotto again... And, at Paris prices that shouldn’t be necessary! It’s a classic space and open all night, but if the food/wine service isn’t even competent, then it’s really hard to swallow the attitude.

    We were disappointed. Waited a long time for menu and to place a drink order, and service was generally inattentive. Food was fine, but expensive for what we got. Seems a bit touristy.
