Gramercy Tavern is an incredible restaurant. But you already know that. The bar is the move you want to make here, and you want to make it often.
We heard so much positive about GT we should have been a little skeptical. We met old friends there for brunch. The welcome and service were amazing. The place is lovely if noisy. Sadly, the food was expensive, the portions small and the taste unremarkable. Perhaps it was an off day. We were sad because we really liked everyone from the restaurant with whom we interacted. But based on this experience and the substantial cost for little food, we won't go back.
One of our top spots in NYC. Also our go to anniversary spot every year (last 8yrs). Delicious and fun!
Disappointing experience ... for a $125 3 courses menu what a bad surprise when getting a salad with blue cheese dressing as first course ... same for the entree sea bass and asparagus turned into asparagus dressing on a sea bass ... Very misleading menu and very pricy ...
Excellent meal with both superb food & service.
Will definitely return.
The restaurant includes the top in the price. We didn’t know who our waiter was. We ordered things that didn’t come. Then when we asked where they were, other waiters were visibly irritated. At one point, one said “oh I’ll figure it out”. But we were being friendly! We repeatedly asked what they put down, eg some vegetable with something for the table—we still have no idea what it was. All of this undercut our experience. We wouldn’t go back. Too many other great restaurants in NY!
We had a wonderful lunch, with 3 out of 4 lunches delicious (and the fourth good), the ambiance great, and the service absolutely perfect! We’ve had dinner there several times as well, and it’s one of our favorite restaurants. The prices are fairly high, but include the tip, so it’s OK. Definitely a restaurant to love!
A special place for any occasion that feels special. Service is superb, food is beautiful and tastes great, and we always feel well taken care of and actually special. Love it!
First rate from door to table. Casual elegance with knowledgeable, warm waitstaff. The prix fixe is top drawer. Tip - somebody in your party should order the cheese course for dessert because it’s ample. Just love this place.
We celebrated our 12 wedding anniversary. Staff was polite, courteous and attentive. Food was excellent. Worth going to and will return again.
The most incredible experience. The chef came out to greet us, and overall the service was unparalleled, as was the food. Absolutely exquisite!
Great experience! It was a going away celebration for my friend and they kindly brought an extra dessert decorated with "bon voyage" and some dessert wine. All of the food was delicious and beautiful.
This is a sublime experience. Every detail, both culinary and hospitality, is perfect.
stacatelle and biscuit were great. burger good but not great
Service was beyond expectations. Always a treat to dine at Gramercy. The pride that is present is not only with the food and presentation, but with the attention that is shown towards each customer.
This was a phenomenal, quintessential NY dining experience. We had lunch, and it was elegant and delightful. The wines we had were unique varietals we had not tried before, and they were terrific. All of the food was great. The tart we had for dessert was aesthetically beautiful, and tasted like a dream. We are glad we got to experience this restaurant while in NY.
for us, this experience was very disappointing. We were so happy to finally get a table and then we were surprised by the poor quality of the food. The 3rd course was so bad that we returned it, the main course was switched from beef to duck without any upfront notice - we did not book the „surprise menu“ but the saisonal tasting for 179$ a person. The desert was not fine cuisine at all, just whip cream with - not fresh - strawberries. We really wonder how this place can be so popular, we find it overrated and overpriced. The waiter was nice though and took the 3rd course from our bill, still this experience was not worth the money and the calories.
Overall, everything was on-point w/ the Seasonal Tasting Menu w/ wine pairing, though Gramercy Tavern feels like it lost a bit of “pizzazz” from yrs past...food well-prepared (albeit several dishes were a bit salty), service (professional, though a bit “mechanical”), wines (well-paired w/ dishes), atmosphere elegant yet “homey” (though the a/c wasn’t working well, especially during pre-dinner drinks in the Tavern area!). Overall, still a great dining experience & always a NYC Classic!
Amazing dinner for our anniversary!! Would highly recommend tasting menu!! We loved our experience and would highly recommend this restaurant!!
Should include the burger in the fine dining area. The overall menu was a bit restrictive which is why I only gave 4 out of 5 stars. Outside of food my dining experience was exceptional.
Had a wonderful time at Gramercy Tavern this past Friday night.....
It has become my go-to spot for special occasions....
It was absolutely perfect....
At the time of reconfirming I was able to secure a later dinner time which was very nice. We were celebrating my friends birthday, but I had not ordered a cake. The wait staff overheard my wishing her Happy Birthday and they included a Birthday cake with our desserts. Very thoughtful. Also, I love fine dining with no tipping.
Always a great meal and experience
We visit NYC several times a year and Gramercy Tavern is one of our favorite restaurants! It is beautiful inside and the service is top notch. Very creative menu that is excellently prepared. Always a pleasure!
Food was excellent pairings were greats service was great would definitely recommend!
Food was excellent! Service was great. Plan to stay 2-3 hours for the full experience.
Wait staff is very knowledgable and extremely pleasant. Food is good but the portions are on the light side and menu is price fixed and very expensive.
Exceptional in every way. This place is not resting on its laurels. Every visit it is fresh, on point and exceeds expectations.
I cannot stop raving about my experience. The attention to detail is phenomenal - we truly felt well taken care of. Our server was so friendly as was all of the other staff - the bartender, maitre d', the manager - so kind, so friendly, so welcoming. And the food - wow! So tasty and the little extras including the amuse bouche and "extra dessert" as well as the take home granola bar just blew us away. Their Michelin star is well-deserved.
GT has a great reputation and based on our experience, it has been earned.
Wonderful food, brilliant service. We felt very taken care of and loved everything about the place.
I’ve been eating here since Gramercy Tavern first opened and the food just continues to get better and more delicious. With so many excellent food options in New York, Gramercy Tavern never disappoints. We come here because the food is consistently great; we keep coming back because the excellent but friendly service is the perfect complement. Relaxed and refined, this is our favorite restaurant anywhere, excellent for everyday yet special on special occasions.
Everything was fabulous. We were there on a Sunday lunch and I can’t stop raving about this place. Alison was a fantastic server. We had planned on being there for a Friday night 3 course dinner but we had to change plans abruptly. The 5 course tasting menu was perfect!
Gramercy Tavern went above and beyond for this meal. Not that they knew, but we traveled three and half hours to celebrate our wedding anniversary and ran into quite a bit of traffic. They were flexible with our schedule, which was very appreciated! The food from the tasting menu was delicious, beautifully presented, and explained well by each server we encountered. To top it off, the complimentary champagne and dessert were a sweet and sentimental touch. We'd like to make this journey a tradition!
Would return. But not for tasting menu. Not for me
We were hot and told AC broken. Hmmmmmm
Wine pairing not also for me. Service impeccable
One of the best meals I've had in NYC! The seafood here is unbeatable and the restaurant uses really high quality ingredients (and you can tell). They were super accommodating to my dietary restrictions as well and the Somm was very friendly, helpful and fun. Would definitely come back for the seasonal tasting, we just did 3 courses in the dining room. You can also apparently add an item from the menu to make it 4 courses.
We were celebrating our anniversary, which the restaurant knew, and had call complimentary glasses of prosecco waiting for us, and a special dessert at the end. It was a lovely evening!
Food and wine were exquisite. Three of us had the sea bass and it was so very delicious. Loved the smoke trout appetizer. Panna cotta was so silky with an awesome burst from the grapefruit sorbet. Our waiter was simply fabulous - so helpful and fun.
