Our mission is to celebrate and serve the presence of the mother which resides above us, within our hearts, within the earth, and in all those who nurture us. We serve cuisine inspired by the kitchens of Mexico sourced from locally grown organic ingredients. Welcome to a seat at love’s table.

The idea of Gracias Madre was first conceived while visiting the families of our employees in Mexico. We wanted to do both; offer organic Mexican food to the communities we serve as well as honor the mothers who work tirelessly in the kitchens of Mexico and often live without their husbands and children while they work side by side with us in California. Inspired by some of the recipes of these families and the love of their mothers, Gracias Madre serves organic, farm fresh, locally sourced food, full of flavor and love with a menu spearheaded by Executive Chef Alan Sanz and agave-based cocktail program by Beverage Director Maxwell Reis.

We had a great time. It was just reopened so some of the food didn’t feel very fresh but it was amazing.

Great atmosphere! Even non vegans will like the food. Really appreciate the restaurant taking the covid precautions seriously. Staff wore masks and servers wore both face shields and masks plus gloves. Glad they were able to reopen!

We arrived at 7:55pm, 5 minutes before our confirmed reservation. We were told it would be 10 minutes. After 15 minutes, we were told the party at our table was just finishing their dessert and they were going to comp us chips and guacamole for the inconvenience, but it would be "just a few more minutes". We ended up not being seated until 8:50pm, almost an hour after our confirmed time. The only reason I believe we were seated then, was we encouraged the hostess/manager to go talk to the people at our table (who ended up being there 3 hours). The manager ended up comping us a round of drinks (plus the Chips and Guac), but it was disappointing to wait almost an hour for a reserved table.

We celebrated our son’s birthday. He enjoyed the mezcal flight and the complementary brownie birthday treat. We enjoyed our meals, tacos, enchiladas and burrito.

We enjoy having a place to take our vegetarian grandchildren that has items we enjoy as well. We especially enjoy sitting on the heated patio. We find that the servers are well educated about what they serve and make great recommendations

Such a cute find! I went here with a friend for the first time for brunch this past weekend. It wasn't too busy when we got there, but did make reservations just in case, and were seated right away. We both ordered off of the $20 tasting menu and were very impressed with the amount of food that we were given. We both had the chips and guac, chopped salad and chimichanga. I also had the french toast and my friend had the potato flautas. I really enjoyed everything I ordered, but my friend wasn't super impressed with the potato flautas. They also have a large assortment of cocktails on the menu which made it tough to choose, but we were super pleased with the ones that we choose. A great spot whether you are vegan or not!

We've had dinner here multiple times and attended one of their events. This was our first time coming for brunch. I strongly recommend it! The food was great, as always! The wait staff were friendly, professional, and on point. The host didn't keep us waiting for our table and greeted us in a timely manner. All in all, this was one of our best experiences here. We'll definitely be back.

The restaurant is lively and busy. The location of our table was odd — kind of in the passageway between the main room and the covered patio, and right next to a service station. Not ideal. Based on a recent write-up two of us ordered the Enchiladas Verdes, but we were disappointed. Tomatillos and zucchini were nowhere to be found, and the filling of the enchiladas was potatoes and peas. Aside from that, we all agreed that the food (Tacos al Pastore, Chiles Relleno, black beans, brown rice) was very good, and that we would return to Gracias Madre again.

So good. Pazole & Al Pastor Tacos were amazing. Atmosphere is thoughtfully engaging and inviting. Service was very friendly and helpful.
Will definitely be back here and also “sister” restaurant Cafe Gratitude.
Only wish there was one of each in Chicago!

Our second time at this location and was super disappointing. We loved the place when it was Gratitude, and I frequented the Cafe Gratitude and Gracias Madre’s in LA and SF when I lived there, but this Newport location served up bland food at outrageous prices, forgot the guacamole on our fajita plates and dished up piles of attitude when we brought it to there attention. What the___? Veggies on everything we ordered were undercooked and flavorless, service was SO snooty and we really left feeling ripped off. Won’t be back. Seabirds ot is for vegan from here on out.

Food was good and the tequila tasting menu interesting and fun. BUT the service was soooo slow. It took over 20 minutes to get a drink. The waiter kept apologizing but the drinks were so delayed. Growing pains for sure.

The restaurant was so noisy you could barely hear. It took 30 minutes for our food to arrive, and it was cold and missing one of the main ingredients. We've been there multiple times and always enjoyed it, but this time was terrible. In addition, the glasses were filthy, with lip marks and spots all over. Not a very good experience.

We've been to this Gracias Madre half a dozen times since it opened. The experience ranges from 3-4.5 stars because the host and service vary widely. Sometimes the host doesn't even greet you for 5 minutes or more. Sometimes they're perfect. The same goes for the bar and wait staff. We've been completely ignored in the bar before and had wait staff who are forgetful and slow as molasses. Plus the music is often loud and not always appropriate for a relaxed dinner conversation. But, when everything comes together, it is a wonderful experience! I haven't figured out the rhyme or reason yet for a flawless evening. But, I will say the food is top-notch. We've loved everything we've eaten and will return for the food alone. If you're looking for a vegan Mexican place with wonderful food and you're tolerant of inconsistent service, Gracias Madre should be on your short list!
