We waited 45 minutes for a waitperson and it wasn’t until we got up to leave that someone came over with glasses of water. We did not eat.

The restaurant is closing on September 30 so they didn’t have everything and the servers didn’t seem to care

Washington DC. No regard for reservation. Staff had vulgar verbal argument in front of us. Awful awful seating and ordering experience. Had concert tickets and reserved to be efficient.

This is the first review I've ever written on OT. We were seated at 6:15pm before a Saturday 8pm concert, logically thinking that's plenty of time to eat and enjoy a drink or two. After being seated and placing our drink order, it took 40 mins to get our 4 waters and 3 beers. It took about an hour to finally get our appetizers, and after checking with our waitress multiple times. About 15 minutes after that, (75 mins after being seated), our food arrived. We were billed for and did not receive 2 other drinks we ordered, but didnt have time to dispute it because it took so long to get our bill and then pay it, and we had to leave for the concert. We didn't leave bc we were starving and were afraid we didnt have time to walk into another place on a Saturday night and quickly eat. And on top of all of that, my food was cold once it did arrive. The irony is that the restaurant was moderately busy at best with several open tables near us, so we couldnt chalk it up to them being slammed. Even after we complained to the manager about 55 minutes in and they assured us they'd "fix" the problem, nothing changed. Bottom line, don't eat here unless you have a good 3-4 hours to spare, dont mind paying for items you dont receive, and enjoy your (very tardy) food cold. The ambience certainly doesnt make up for everything else.

Arrived, was seated and immediately forgotten. Had to ask for water twice. After 75 minutes, asked where our food was and was told it would be awhile longer. Left without being served a crumb. STAY AWAY from this horrible restaurant!

Apparently this DC location is closing in a week. If I had known that, I would’ve made a reservation elsewhere. Took an hour to get food, many menu items were not available, very few employees were working and I saw the hostess get in a heated verbal altercation with our server in front of many tables. Gordon Biersch still has other locations in DC and I will not be frequenting any of them again.

I’ve never offered an open table review before and I’ve never walked out of a restaurant before. I actually can’t rate the food because we left before ordering - service was so poor. My stars are at least for the menu options that were offered. There was a slow-moving line to check in with the hostess. After checking in on this me for our reservation time we were shown to a sticky hightop in the bar by a broken floor. We could not hear each other. We waited to give drink orders “in addition to water” but water only came 15 minutes later - one glass and the glass she was going to give to my husband she rethought and gave it to a nearby table that was being served though we were seated earlier. One other waiter stopped by and asked if we were being seen to and we said we weren’t quite sure. They said they were busy - understandable because it was the second performance of a big concert but the restaurant should have better anticipated since this wasn’t a surprise event. After being ignored and passed over and worried that we wouldn’t even give our order before concert time we agreed it was a miserable experience so since we didn’t even see anyone to let know we were vacating the table we left a dollar for the one soda and ice water that were served and we went off down the street to try to find food and service. We suspect that since there was a sign in GB saying they’ll be closing this location in a week there was little incentive for the team. Nearby Hen Quarter was also visibly busy but they were friendly, professional, attentive, dug in and we had a nice experience there. We’ll never go back to a Gordon Biersch but we were pleased to discover Hen Quarter and we look forward to returning there again.

We had a reservation (we were attending an event afterwards). They sat us at a section with no server. It was a "pick up" section. After 15 minutes of waiting we finally got the attention of a waiter who told us there wasn't an assigned waiter for our section and he would try to find someone. The receptionist told us that a reservation guaranteed us a table (but obviously not a waiter). We left never to return again.

The food was spectacular and their home brew IPA was very good. We dined here before going to a concert at the Cap Center which was only a block away. The only reason for the 4 stars was it took about 10 minutes before the waiter came by and took forever to get our drinks (at least 20 minutes) after ordering. The odd thing about it was I watched the same thing happen to other guest and some had different waiters then us. It was like normal policy for the restaurant. We witnessed two different guest get up and leave because off it. Maybe they were short staffed, who knows. I would return again because of the good food and beer and hopefully have better service. Oh, and one last thing was the building had super high ceilings and a lot of stone (marble) and wood which made the place cavernous and seem “cold”. Not a very warm inviting atmosphere, but that’s a personal preference.

Unfortunately terrible experience. Did not realize site is closing end of the month. Short staffed. Drink orders wrong, had to request water 3 times. One entree never arrived, another came with kale instead of spring greens and absent advertised bacon. Fries cold and soggy. I brought out-of-town family because I’d had a previous good experience. Very, very disappointed and hope this does not translate to the Navy Yard location.
