Gorat's Steak House
Start out your meal at Gorats Steak House with an appetizer like the hand-battered onion rings or the jumbo lump crab cakes. Choose from a variety of cuts of steak like sirloin, rib eye and filet mignon or go a bit lighter with the citrus-hoisin glazed salmon. For vegetarians, try an entre salad like the Caesar salad.

Truly one of our very favorite places. Everyone is so friendly and attentive. Our food was wonderful and I loved the french onion soup. I argue that their onion rings are better than anywhere.
Best steakhouse in Omaha! Highly recommended. Do not miss!
The filet was excellent the prime rib was disappointing as it was tough.
Loved our steak dinners. The whiskey sauce on sirloin was sweet and tasty. The loaded baked potato was yummy. My spouse had the strip steak. Both steaks were perfectly prepared. Our server was friendly and attentive. The kitchen was a bit slow but allowed time to relax and enjoy our evening!
Great dinner at Gorats. Be sure and try the fried parsley!
Good casual dining experience— fantastic steak!
Reminded me of a Wisconsin Supper Club. Great steaks, friendly service. Nothing fancy
Great place. One of the old style steak houses famous in Omaha. The decor is from like from the 70’s—dark colors, old style pictures and furniture. The front entrance looks like it came from the 60’s (check out the weird bull masks with the lights in the eyes) Not the place for swanky romantic dinners. If you’re looking for great steaks—you came to the right place. The chicken fried steak was incredible and so was the whiskey rubbed rib eye. Prices on the higher side(steaks range in the $20’s-$50), but the Italian food was cheaper. The service was very good—our server Rita was quick and attentive.
We heard that this is one of Warren Buffet’s favorite steak places—rumor has it he bought the place during the pandemic cause it was going under.
The food was great. The drinks were, too. Our server, Patricia, was excellent.
Good was amazing. Good service. Always a pleasure
Was looking for somewhere new to try for our 20th wedding anniversary dinner. First time at Gorat’s and will definitely plan to dine there again. Nice old family steakhouse feel. Service was great. The menu selection offered plenty of options and the steak was delicious as were the appetizer and sides. Thank you Gorat’s for a wonderful evening.
We loved the restaurant and food! Our only regret was our server had a table of 10 so we felt ignored much of the night. Another server didn’t step in to help. Aside from that everything was great!
Celebrated our 1st Anniversary here. Excellent toasted ravioli appetizer, whisky ribeye was amazing and so was the prime rib. Was very busy, which was great to see and service was very good considering how busy it was. Had never been here before, but love to support local businesses and will definitely be back!
This was our first visit to Gorat's and it was very nice. We loved the sound of the band in the other room. Only wish we had a closer spot. The service was exceptional! Our waitress handled 7 people like a pro! The food came out hot and well flavored. I wish I remembered her name but her service spoke volumes. She has been doing this for quite some time and then again she may have been a natural. Very nice spot for a Friday night.
I have been to Gorats many times before and had no issues. This time we made reservations, when we got there we had to wait at least 30 min to be seated. They were short on wait staff. The servers were working really hard. My steak and others at my table came out rare instead of medium rare and had to send them back. It was a bad experience but considering everywhere is short staffed, not sure if it gets any better.
Unpretentious. Delicious. This may become one of our favorite places. We felt very at home. The restaurant didn't try to prove itself in decor... the proof was in the food and the service. Refreshing after all the smoke and mirrors most places use.
Great steak, cooked perfectly!
Probably one of the best steaks I’ve ever had! Great service. An old school steak house, just the way I like them!
Gorats didn't disappoint! We haven't been here for several years and it was a nice experience! Food was really well prepared and service was excellent!
We expected a much more intimate experience for a restaurant like this. The food was OK - not worth the price - but the ambiance was poor.
Good was great and cooked as ordered. Veal was huge.
Great dinner, service was excellent, food was delicious, they have an amazing meatloaf dinner and vast selection of steaks.
Wonderful food with very friendly staff, definitely worth a visit!
Service provided by Staff efficient, timely and welcoming. Food was great and portions were satisfactory.
Our party had three different steaks and they all were awesome. Our waitress was attentive without being intrusive. There was live music, but our table was far enough away that we were still able to visit. Spinach dip was a great starter. We like to bring visitors to Omaha here for a lovely meal. Once again, we were certainly not disappointed.
My whole family enjoyed the dinner especially Gorats finest steaks!
We had a superb high quality, relaxed, enjoyable night out at our first visit to Gorat's Steak House in Omaha. The menu has so many excellent choices, one begins to plan a second visit to settle the argument.
I had the Whiskey Ribeye and rate it a 10 out of 5 stars with homemade, hand-cut french fries cooked perfectly. The love of my life chose the Filet [the big one - she is not a timid carnivore] with button mushrooms. She did share a bite with me - and the filet melted in my mouth with flavor.
She opened with the Sesame seed tuna appetizer and by the looks of the empty plate it must have been superb. I started with the spinach dip but was eyeballing the HUGE onion rings at the table next to ours.
There were more food choices, but I do not want you to think we are glutens. We could not resist trying so many tasty appetizers and desserts. Just image a great classic steakhouse with more choices that you can make and everything is great. A rare find.
The waitress was the best, as were the hostess and greater. We are grateful.
There is NOTHING not to like at Gorat's Steak House. We will be back VERY soon.
Overall a good experience. I felt badly for our server, they were obviously understaffed (but most restaurants are of course). She was kind and did what she could. Went on a Saturday night and it was busy. Plan to spend about 90 minutes, from being seated to leaving. The cocktails were good and the food was very good. Whiskey glazed ribeye was excellent and quite a few sides to choose from. The live music (even from the bar which was in a different room) was a bit too loud for easy conversation. Paying the bill took longer than it should have. But all in all, it was a very good experience and would go back if/when we're back in Omaha.
We ordered a variety of appetizers and meals and all of them were excellent. The steak bites were unbelievably tender and juicy. My husband had the ribeye steak and it was done to perfection! We also arrived early and sat in the bar for happy hour which was a blast!
We had the prime rib, onion rings, fried shrimp, wedge salad. All was fine except for the shrimp. It was gummy, rubbery and tasted funny. It was unbeatable. Our server asked us about it and we told her. She did nothing about it. It should have been taken off our bill but nope, no one cared. We will never go back, never!
Great service. Insanely delicious food.
The food was excellent. Thank had a filet and it was cooked to perfection. The steak melted in your mouth.
Excellent service from Alison and a wonderful meal. The prime rib was fantastic.
Fried parsley is back! What a fun surprise! Service was great and so friendly. We will be back soon.
Reservations at 745pm. Seated at 815pm. First contact with server 835pm. Meal came out fairly fast since it was prime rib. The meal was average at best. Not worth the $100 for two. Server was grossly over her head. Asked for water, she forgot. She's for bread, she forgot. Will not be back.
Horrible service from the minute we walked in the door until we left. Set your reservation 30 minutes early from when you want to eat. Order your apps, drinks and meal right when you sit down. You’ll never see your server again.
They comped our ticket which was nice, due to how long we waited. The food was really good. It was so loud and crowded.
My wife and I celebrated our 17th anniversary on Saturday. I found this restaurant on the internet and decided to try something new and not the typical chain restaurant. Why not ? Warren Buffett eats here! The steaks were cooked as ordered and delicious. The service was top notch and even brought us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. Menu offers a great selection, Make reservation if eating on the weekend. They offer live music on weekends
Sadly, the trip to Gorat's was a disaster through no fault of its own. A little after we ordered, the waitress apologized for a delay as the computers had failed and they had to write up orders the old way. Shortly after she brought our salads, the kitchen lost most of its electric power. Some who had not yet ordered decided to go elsewhere, we were told we would get our food.
Normally, Gorat's has some of the best steaks in Omaha. Warren Buffett is a regular for that reason. This time, they were obviously cooked too fast. Our filets were dark on the outside. Instead of the usual folk tender, these needed the sharp knife provided.
Everyone was disappointed --- diners, waitresses, and kitchen staff.
We will still go again and hope the power problem is fixed.
Great steak at a good price. I would definitely recommend it to my friends.
