Goode Co. Seafood - Westpark
Goode Co. Seafood in Westpark, Texas, has quite a bit going for it that helps to make it a top restaurant to enjoy in the area around Houston. The restaurant is located in a railcar, and it features an original Wurlitzer, so it offers a truly unique dining experience.
When it comes to the menu, Goode Co. Seafood has plenty to offer. Try the boneless chicken breast, rainbow trout, Gulf shrimp and catfish options. Those who are looking for fresh seafood will find just what they need right here. For dessert, indulge in the red-hot red velvet cake, old-fashioned ice cream sundae, banana cream pie or triple chocolate layer cake.
We wanted to love this place-- great ambiance and terrific service but the food was just so-so. We ordered our go-to foods for a laid back seafood place-- crab cakes (overly deep fried and served with a weird shitake mushroom sauce), oysters on the half-shell (they do the baker's dozen which is nice but these lacked flavor and the sauces lacked zing), and an oyster po-boy (mushy batter not fried well which is weird because the crab cakes were way over done-- but they did split it for us and served them on separate plates.)
Bonus points for a Sunday afternoon happy hour-- but only if you sit at the bar, terrific service and evidently very family friendly-- lots of parents with little kids eating here.
We will give it a second chance-- could have caught them on an off day and we need to try the gumbo.
Good food. Prices not bad but not cheap. Can be pretty noisy
Good food. Good drinks. Lots of fun. Had raw oysters and a bowl of the seafood gumbo, which were both delicious. Will be back soon!
The food was delicious and always is. I’ve never had anything here that I didn’t like. Our waitress was sweet and attentive. We will be back!
Nice bar area. Only issue we had was the Bloody Mary - way too sour for my taste. Food was delicious & service great
New Year’s Eve
Sorry, but I was quite disappointed in the table space. We had a table for 4 and we were crunched for space as it was difficult to fit all of our orders on the table.
Also I ordered a platter and mine came to me on a small plate while my friend's plate clearly was the appropriate size plate for the platter. I had to request another plate which added more space on an already crowded table.
Food was good but not sure if I will come back.
Everything was great as expected, food & service.
The food at Goode is amazing and no others compare when it comes to preparation of seafood. Delicious oyster and fish selections. Exceptional gumbo. Wonderful fish options. Don't miss the Oysters Rockefeller.
Very good food, good selection and reasonable prices.
Best shrimp campechana ever! We drive in from Sugar Land just for this dish.
We have been customers at this location for at least 15 years and we have not been disappointed, food and service are outstanding. Noise level some times a little high not conducent to a normal conversation. Men’s room is very small.
Food and service was excellent. Place is a bit noisy.
This seafood restaurant was delicious - fresh and inventive! My family loved it and will definitely be back!
First visit and we will be back. My husband had shrimp and I had the halibut. The fish was outstanding! I definitely will order it again. Reservation was for 5:30, and we were sat within 5 minutes of our time. After ordering, the wait was very short to receive our meal. Fantastic meal!
Outstanding fresh seafood paired well with craft beer suggestion from wait staff, wonderful flavors and great service!
Goode was recommended to me by a friend. The building was on the historical side and the food was worth coming back for.
Ask for Carlos! You can't get any better than him! He is a star server & bartender! A star!
Solid brunch bite, ultimately at the bar
And the not to miss....
Always a classic
Terrific place to enjoy an adult's birthday celebration
Wonderful food and wonderful service. Will make this a regular place to go. Everything was great
My wife and I had a couple of drinks which were OK. She had a dinner salad and I had a cup of shrimp gumbo. We both had Trout Almondine. The gumbo was like a light colored gravy with 4 shrimp and a little rice. Being originally from Louisiana, not what I would call a real gumbo. The Trout filets were about the thinnest I have ever seen, lots of almonds and a little trout. It was good, not great, and highly overpriced for the amount served. After all the raves by former patrons, I expected better. No, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We have been eating there for more than 20 years. The fish is excellent and great value.
The Managers hostesses, the front desk exceptional personalities my guest enjoyed every bit of it they love the food they said it was outstanding this is the place that they will come to eat their seafood.
The staff was very courteous and friendly. We were waiting on a member of the family to arrive and they had gotten lost so we sat at the table for a very long time without ordering anything but appetizers and there was no rush with the server. He didn't seem to mind that we weren't ordering in that we chose to wait for our guest to arrive. The food was delicious and hot and the service was friendly and fast.
The campachena was delicious. Remainder of food nothing special. Fried shrimp pretty good but sparse on the seafood platter. Oysters small and didn’t taste fresh. Garlic bread was disappointing - tough to chew. Fried green tomatoes- pieces too large. For the price, food was disappointing.
What a great place! This is now on our “have to” list when visiting Houston!
It has been almost 3 years since I have been there. The quality of the food is the same... excellent! I only wish they would open a location in the Dallas area....
Wife & I were looking for a seafood restaurant, as we are from New Orleans. Not hard to find & easy parking. The wait staff was more than accommodating, as well as making suggestions for food options. Our meals were excellent & the wait was less than many restaurants. Will definitely visit again, and looking forward to it.
Bartendar was great! He was attentive and good for a guy missing sleep due to a new baby. Food was good. My only complaint was redfish had too much dark on it! Made fishing tasting.
The food was amazing!
Awesome food! Enjoyed reminiscing great memories of our friend Jim Goode!
Great food and the service was superior for my Mother's 91st birthday
The building the original Westpark Goode Co. Seafood restaurant sits on could be deemed a historical landmark. Aside from some practical upgrades, it's largely stayed the same. And that's a good thing. Goode Co. is a restaurant group I've come to think of as "Old Reliable." You can always count on getting a delicious meal with great service. Dad and I went for Houston Restaurant Weeks before the Texans preseason game, and the food, as always, was delicious. The highlight was the dessert at the end. I ordered the spicy red velvet cake. Not only was the dessert generously portioned, it was delicious! It was like if the traditional red velvet cake and a cinnamon-spiced crumble cake had a love child. Dad ordered his usual favorite, the chocolate pie, but when he tasted the red velvet cake, he wished he hadn't so he could share my dessert with me. Overall, it was a great experience. No matter the occasion, you can always count on great food and great service at Goode Co.
The food and drinks were great and so was the staff. I really enjoyed the service.
Great food and service. Stands out above others!
Our only regret in moving inland to the Hill Country is the lack of good seafood. That's why, each time we find ourselves with an excuse to spend the night in Houston, we make a point of dining at Goode Co. Seafood. You simply can't beat the combination of excellent quality, fresh seafood and skillful preparation. I would recommend that any first time Goode Co. diner try something mesquite grilled; it is their speciality and is DELICIOUS. Gumbo is consistently good and the crab gumbo always has a generous amount of crabmeat. Husband had the campechana, which was really full of shrimp. I had mesquite grilled flounder and shrimp for the main and was blown away by the quality of the flounder. Husband had daily special of mesquite grilled mahi and shrimp and proclaimed it to be possibly the best piece of mahi he can ever remember having. Overall just an excellent restaurant, and no more expensive than our local pretty mediocre seafood house.
I had high expectations that were not met. The gumbo was tepid. The fried seafood was bland. The pecan pie was broken and chilled. On the other hand, my wife enjoyed her appetizer, main, and dessert much more than I enjoyed mine. The server was very friendly. It was 5:30pm on a Sunday and the restaurant wasn't busy at all.
The gratuity was calculated electronically and it was wrong. I planned to tip 18% on a $70 meal and the tip wound up being over $16. I informed the restaurant the next day via email and someone called me back. They were very difficult to understand on the phone and they claimed it was an IT problem. It was an unsatisfactory conversation wherein the "compensation" offered was a free appetizer on my next visit IF I explained the situation to the manager THEN. I have no quibble with the type of compensation but the method would make me (or anyone) extremely uncomfortable.
I wasn't interested in having a longer complaint discussion with the person who contacted me (who, as I said above was hard to understand) but frankly, I doubt I'll return unless my wife insists.
The food was delicious! Especially the shrimp empanadas and the campechana.
Have dined in your restaurant for years. Always happy with th foold and service!
