New this season, stop by Après Chalet, open daily 2-4:30pm, and dine fireside immersed in the cozy, festive ambiance on the patio. Join us for Weekend Brunch, Saturday and Sunday 10:30am-2pm and visit our Mimosa Bar for a bespoke bubbly blend. We have a $50 per bottle corkage fee and guests are permitted to bring a maximum of two bottles per party. All seating requests are noted, but not guaranteed.

    The menu was changed since last year. Very short list. Nothing outstanding or really interesting. It was very vhard to choose an entry cause all dushes look very boring. Short list of draft beer. If the restaurant considers itself as Austrian, the food and beer should be at wide range. The desert was good though.

    Service was friendly and fantastic. Schnitzel and bison and onion soup were very good but cheese fondue was disappointing. The vegetables for dipping were overdressed - an overwhelming taste of vinegar so we left most of it.

    Had a 7:45 reservation. We were seated around 8:30. Hard for us to want their heavy food choices that late. Salads were very good though. And Apple strudel was delicious!

    We dined here last year and loved it but the same fondue dish seemed a bit less fresh this time. They were out of olives for the martini I ordered. Service was just ok. . Sadly, we probably won’t go on our next trip to Deer Valley.

    Was disappointed the menu had few Bavarian options. Past visits had included many more. Still, the food was good. Our waiter, Lucas, was outstanding! No complaints with him. He was so attentive, we were able to communicate with winks and nods. He used none of the interruptions of our conversations one usually experiences. One unfortunate experience marred the visit, I may not go back to Goldener Hirsch: When I put my card back after paying, I accidentally dropped my handbag and my prescription glasses, in their case, fell out under the table. I realized what had happened when I arrived home, an hour and a half away. Too late to return that evening. The following morning I called and described to the restaurant personnel exactly where my glasses case lie. I asked that they retrieve them and hold them for me to pick up. They said they would do so. A few hours later they called to tell me that, no, I had not lost the glassed at their restaurant. But I knew I had! In spite of their report, I drove back to the restaurant and asked to retrieve my glasses. They let me, despite assurances that the glasses certainly were not there. Of course, they were. I was disappointed that after spending $500+ on dinner, the staff had not even bothered to look under the table for my glasses. They had just called me back and said, “no, not here!” Some kind of manager was even standing by the table to tell me how out of line I was and that if the glasses had been there, they would have given them to lost and found. He was telling me this as I emerged from under the tablecloth with my glasses in my hand. If they had bothered to vacuum under the table they would have found them. If they had looked, they would have found them. That is how inconsiderate these people are to folks spending $500 on dinner! This posh, expensive restaurant did not even vacuum under the tables before starting service for a new day! The floor under the table was filthy with crumbs and debris; it turned my stomach

    Had dined here last year and had a wonderful meal, however this time it was disappointing. Two out of the four dinners arrived, and then we waited for about 10 minutes for the rest of our food to arrive. One of the dishes that arrived was cold and the other was nearly warm. No one came by to check on the meals so we did not have the chance to have them heated up. Would not go back.

    Don’t go. Too many tables so close you could hear everyone converse. SO LOUD my friend and I could not talk. The staff was pleasant but overwhelmed. The food was mediocre and very expensive. The menu said the entre would come with potato salad but was served with frisée. Disappointing because I remember when it was a very enjoyable dining experience.

    such a coool experience! the bread service and fondue were delicious - as were the fish and steak! wish i saved room for the chocolate fondue but the donut dessert was amazing! the whiskey cocktail came out in a terrarium and was something i sipped on throughout the meal to savor. this was a really special dining experience and such a cool atmosphere in deer valley

    Schnitzel was awesome. They ruined the filet twice. We finally just gave up. The fondue was good as well. Server was great. Drinks were good. Wine selection was good.

    Wow!! What a wonderful experience!! My husband and I celebrated our wedding with an intimate lunch. From the moment we entered the restaurant till the time we departed we were doted on. I can't give them enough praise. From the host and other wait staff and especially our waiter, Hector, we couldn't have asked for more special attention. What a professional staff!! We had a lovely and charming table by the fireplace, where we were not rushed, but occasionally checked in on by our waiter. It was the perfect balance!! We were offered a glass of champagne as we sat down, which was a lovely gesture. Our meal was most enjoyable, too!! We can't thank Goldener Hirsch enough for making our special day that much more special:)

    Highly recommend! This restaurant has hands-down, the best food and service in Deer Valley! The ambience is both welcoming and charming , and the service is probably the best that I have ever experienced. I would definitely recommend the fondue. It is authentic and delicious. Honestly, You have not done Deer Valley until you have spent an evening at the Golden Hirsh restaurant. This place is truly special.

    The food was really great, but the service is what stood out. It is very clear what a great job management is doing in training the staff to anticipate guest needs and I don't remember better service anywhere recently. Eating out is expensive everywhere, period. It is wonderful to have such a wonderful service experience from start to finish.

    My reservation was for ordering off of the menu. When I arrived I was told that the only option was the Valentines day special menu. I was left with the decision to pay $500 (with tax) + tip or walk out and be embarrassed. We stayed and the food was good but I could have ordered what I wanted (fondue platter, soup/salad, steak and fish main courses, and desert) for $200 less. Please do not offer an option for a reservation using the regular menu if you cannot order off of that menu at dinner.

    We ate here not realizing we must have reserved the “experience” of a pre fixed menu for valentines day. The food was good and all courses were very well presented but $225 is just way too much for what it was. One criticism of the food was that truffle-cauliflower mousse under the scallop had zero truffle flavor. Service was excellent but after a bottle of wine, tax and tip $700+ was EXTREME for what it was.

    Our waiter, Zoltan, was exceptional, and he made our dining experience all the more memorable. His assistant, Thomas, was also very pleasant and attentive. Goldener Hirsch has been our favorite restaurant on Deer Valley mountain for years, and once again we were so pleased with our experience. Our table was a bit delayed, so we had the opportunity to enjoy a cocktail and listen to the live music in the Antler Lounge. Excellent use of that space. Please continue!!     Nice place but food is low quality. We had the Fondue that was not good and not authentic. The pasta was tasteless. They need to change the chef, etc. I would not recommend.

    My husband had the beef cheeks and I had the val schnitzel. His beef cheeks were excellent. My schnitzel was just ok. Initially served without the beurre blanc - I knew something was missing. It materialized quickly. The "alpine potato salad" was simply roasted baby red potatoes- and only two to three sliced ones-no dressing of any kind. I guess I was expecting more of a "salad" - these were just a spartan share of roasted potatoes. After I was about half way through when my server mentored she could get some spaetzle to accompany it. We come here every year because it's usually exceptional. Hopefully this year was the exception.

    It’s such a quaint spot. Lively for a Monday. Schnitzel was delicious!! If you like port, go for the 20 year Valledo - a 3 oz pour and delicious. I would definitely go back!

    We clarified with our server multiple times about my girlfriend’s gluten allergy, as she has celiacs disease, and requested gluten-free bread with the fondue. They initially brought out 1 basket of bread, they said wasn’t gluten free, then they clarified it was, which was great, so r hey moved it to my girlfriend’s side of the table. Then, they brought out the regular bread for me, as we had a separate vessel. Then another server brought out another thing of regular bread for some reason, which we didn’t need. Then, they brought out the gluten-free bread after giving us 3 baskets, 1 of which wasn’t gluten free that they gave directly to my girlfriend. She was legitimately sick for days and we had ski rentals, lift passes, and other reservations that we weren’t able to make because she was so sick, we actually lost money on the other reservation. I don’t care about going to this place ever again, but I desperately wish they train their staff to accommodate diseases and allergies better. If they aren’t able to — we wouldn’t have gotten anything with the risk of cross-confirmation. We lost maybe a thousand dollars due to the unused lift passes, unused ski rentals, and cancelled reservation. Just absolutely unacceptable.
