Not quite the original in Salzburg, where we've been several times before, but very good food and European feel. We were the only 2 people in the restaurant since it is off season in Park City, but that meant good service and special attention from the entire staff and kitchen. My wife and I were both pleased with everything, but hard to fully judge the restaurant without a larger group of people in the dining room. They do need to expand their Gruner Veltliner selection if they want to be considered Austrian - they only have one on the wine list. This is one of those very annoying places on Open Table that calls to confirm your reservation even though it has been confirmed on Open Table, and in this case, guaranteed with a credit card. This is a ridiculous practice used by only most egotistical of restaurants, and I usually cancel my reservation when they do it, but went ahead this time - although I never called back to confirm. Why was it such a big deal for them when we were the only 2 in the restaurant? Whenever one comes to a resort area, you expect to be gouged in pricing, but Golden Hirsch is grossly overpriced, particularly for the off season. We paid about double what we paid at Firewood on Main for a very good meal the night before.
Good experience, but the meal wasn't as good as we've had here in the past...the chef has a "more is more" philosophy, as there were wayyy too many flavors/things on each plate. Our waitress was all over the place to boot. Not sure if she had more tables than usual or what. Just wasn't the great experience we've had here other times. 👎🏼
From the friendly greeting at the door all the way through our meal -- it was truly a fabulous evening.
Goldener Hirsch has spectacular food choices. We have never been disappointed with the chef's creations which utilize many local foods. We enjoyed the strawberry gazpacho, the Wiener schnitzel, the roasted chicken and the Dover sole. For dessert, the coffee was perfect and the cherry chip ice cream was a big hit!! Our friends from out of state loved the experience.

Great dining experience! Food was excellent, service was great, and it was nice to be able to have a fine dining experience that was quiet enough for conversation. The ambience is lovely. Highly recommend the fondu as an appetizer (shared by 6 of us). Pairs well with Gruner Vetliner wine. The Wiener Schnitzel was seasoned to perfection and had great texture. The halibut was delicately seasoned and had a myriad of complex yet light flavors. We finished the evening off with a shared chocolate fondu which came with fruit, cookies, cake, and the most wonderful pistachio marshmallows. We've enjoyed the Goldener Hirsch in Salzburg and we ere pleasantly surprised to find such an authentic Austrian dining experience in our own backyard.
Return customer. Did not receive the service previously experienced.... disappointed! Large group seated next to us... very loud effectively ruining a romantic experience seated next to fireplace. Further, we felt abondaned by our waiter during remainder of our meal... left tip appropriate to the level of service received.
When we arrived, we were told there was a 35 minute wait, which was 30 minutes after the reservation. The hostess was extremely cold when delivering the news, without a hint of apology for not being able to honor the reservation. One of the three meals, the Mediterranean Sea Bass, was decent. The halibut was flavorless. The Weiner Schnitzel was beyond bad- and was $47 a serving. The meal was basically a huge slab of breading, with only the thinnest layer of cardboard-like veal, on cabbage. The pasta was not identifiable. All and all it was an expensive mistake to have stayed when the reservation was not timely honored.
It's been awhile since we've dined here, but glad we decided to return. The ambiance is wonderful and the wait staff was superb. John was great to make suggestions and his service was excellent. Not over bearing or intrusive. The manager checked on us a couple of times, which was nice as well. We started by splitting a salad, and instead of just putting it on two plates, they were portioned and plated individually with all the accompanying touches of the regular portion. Nice touch. Husband had the schnitzel which he liked very much, and the portion was generous. I had the scallops which were cooked perfectly. The apple strudel and ice cream was excellent too. The meal started with a delicious amuse- bouche and finished with a complimentary chocolate/coconut truffle. Would recommend this restaurant for coziness, ambiance, service and unique menu.
Second time going to this restaurant in Park City (first time was about 6 years ago), located in the Deer Valley resort complex. Making the reservation on OpenTable required a $75 deposit in case it was cancelled less than 24 hours in advance. This was followed by a confirmation call that I missed, to which I left a phone message that I was planning to attend. This was followed by yet another missed call with a message that I would be charged $100 if I did not show up. Makes you feel like a valued guest ...
Food good, not great. Fussy presentation with lots of ingredients on the plate. Way overpriced. Very expensive wine list; typical pretentious approach to so-called fine dining. Chose to have decent, but again overpriced, wines by the glass.
With all the need to charge for missed reservations, restaurant was half empty on a Saturday night. Not going back.
Too many great restaurants in Park City to waste a meal on a place that makes you feel like a deadbeat. When did some restaurants forget that the customer is always right?
This is an incredible restaurant, the best in Park City, UT. It is 100% authentic Austrian décor and has a lovely European ski lodge feel. Service was impeccable. We were made to feel welcome. The menu was fabulous, with great salads, starters, and entrees. I had the Weiner schnitzel any my wife had the lamb loin. Others in our party has salmon and scallops.
I liked the wine list, it was complete and not overpriced.
This place is pretty flawless, professional and welcoming. I think that you'll definitely like a special dinner with Goldener Hirsch
we have been there before and I loved the the lamb-- unfortunately this time the lamb came out on the cool side. I like lamb to be hot but not overcooked. They did take back our lamb dishes (both my husband and I had the lamb) and told us they would "take care of it". My son had the Wiener Schnitzel--which was hot- and very large--it was excellent--not overly breaded and the sides and spaetzele were also excellent. They brought back our lamb and i was sure they were going to bring us a fresh plate but they only heated the lamb--my husband did eat his--the lamb was hot but the sides were not, I sent mine back and they did bring a fresh order. This time it was hot. The waiter said that they don't serve their meals "piping hot"--I cant really accept that as an excuse--he should have said it was a timing error. They did comp us dessert to make up for it--which was nice of them. At a restaurant of this calibur I was just surprised that they didn't just bring us a "new" hot entree instead of reheating the one we complained about.
A specialty of this restaurant is the cheese fondue which is a large portion for $44
It would be nice to offer a smaller portion when there are only two people dining and they would like to try the fondue and also be able to order something else with out having to order large portion and be filled up on cheese.
Otherwise, fairly limited lunch menu but great service and nice ambiance.
We celebrated my husband's 70 th birthday with our family and a few friends. The food was delicious. Everyone said it was the best food that we had on our ski vacation this week. The Lamb was very special and Wienerschnitzel just the best! Can't wait to go back next year when we come to Park City.
Wonderful ambiance and food. Party of 6 shares the delicious cheese fondue for an appetizer, more than enough to share. Apples, broccoli and bread to dip. Then we all ended up ordering either the sea bass or scallops entrees which were both wonderful. The scallops were huge and our east coast friends said were better than they get at home!
Great evening with impeccable service from John. The warm mushroom salad was amazing and their wiener schnitzel is very authentic. I also loved their beet salad and salmon appetizer.
Relaxing, beautiful atmosphere and everyone -- even the lactose-intolerant friend was accommodated with cheerfulness and grace. Highly recommend.
Delicious--as always. We were guests at the hotel while on a ski vacation and because of the Sundance Film Festival, we decided to just eat at the hotel both nights of our stay. We enjoyed both evenings very much. Service was very attentive. We make this restaurant one of our regular places to go while in Park City.
Party of 8, seated at a round table in an alcove. Perfect. Professional service by a team, our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly, astute and efficient. Ambiance was perfect. Food was excellent. Weiner schnitzel was traditional preparation of classic dish: we appreciated chef's restraint in not trying to over create. Lamb and duck dishes were outstanding. Our group knows their wine so when 1 of 2 reds was sent back (corked) waiter returned c quickly with replacement saying sommelier concurred. Lovely evening. Very civilized. Great end to fabulous week of skiing.
