   Had a great dinner tonight at Goen. My sister has a few allergies and they went out of their way to make sure they didn’t cross contaminate anything. I really appreciated the waiter checking with the kitchen on the items we ordered and offering options. I was really impressed! Thank you!

   We celebrated our anniversary here and loved every second of the experience; the waitress was lovely, the food amazing and there was lots of extra care as well. Delicious! We will be back for sure!

   A dining experience at Roy’s proved very disappointing. Ambience aside as an open eatery, the food was disappointing (bland, nothing stood out except the eggplant appetizer among all the other starters and main entrees). No spectacular eats; nothing to write others to encourage they try GOEN. Service too was very sporadic, not attentive. Sorry. Won’t go back nor tell others it was good.

   I’ve been here a couple of times. The food is pretty good, but the service needs work. She was nice, but very occupied. They seem to be short handed and the server is doing multiple things like take orders, make mix drinks, etc.

   As usual, the food was outstanding…beautiful presentation, great quality, and of course, absolutely delicious. I assure you that anything you decide on will not disappoint; especially, the butterfish!!! What really deserves mention and comment are Kristine, the Manager, and Dani, our server! Too often one doesn’t give thought or credit to how service can impact one’s dining experience….positively or negatively. I’m truly a believer that service is the dealbreaker, when commenting on an outstanding restaurant (of which Hawaii has many). I’m so impressed with Goen’s service and hospitality! Kristine remembered us from a year ago!!! She and Dani made our dining experience so memorable, and a cut above the rest. MAHALO, KRISTINE & DANI🤙🏻🌺♥️

   I absolutely love this restaurant. The sushi is fantastic! The staff is friendly and competent. I need to try more of the dishes … but I can’t resist ordering the sushi rolls. PERFECTION!!!

    Happy with the food, service and vibe. Rattan chairs look so cute, but we were sat at one that has been damaged. My husband and I were uncomfortable, fighting the slant of bench that was tilted to the middle. I wish I had mentioned this to the server when I was seated.

    Somewhat pricey, but good spot in the heart of Kailua. Portions a bit small (only 3 shrimp in the shrimp scampi), but good. The cocktails were amazing--highly recommended. We only tried it once, so limited exposure to the menu. Would definitely try again.

    Impact noise heard in dining room from upstairs gym. Menu is adequate but limited. Pricing is far too aggressive and out of wack with the restaurant's casual beachtown vibe. Had fun but Goen is much too pricey to consistently frequent.

    I went with a gal pal and we shared appetizers, the roasted brussels and cauliflower, portabella shrooms, shisito peppers and the beet salad and it was all delicious! We also had the Nippon cocktail and because I'm a slow drinker and more of a sipper I asked if I could get my cocktail martini style (without the ice) and the bartender was great in making it that way and I could enjoy both of my cocktails without them getting watered down. I've been to Goen several times, even for my birthday dinner, and not once have I been disappointed!

    New sushi rolls are amazing- Mr Jalapeño was outstanding!!!! Can’t wait to go back again - great to see a Kailua restaurant step up their game. No need to go to town for sushi.

    My mother and I always dine here when I am visiting. We always order the same meals as well. The dragon roll and the Misoyaki Butterfish. These are usually the most expensive items on the menu but they are consistently delicious.

    This is a family favorite. There's something for everyone and it all tastes great. The staff is consistently friendly and professional. The setting is wonderful - even on a blustery day. Our go-to favorites are the Brussels sprouts w/cauliflower, the burrata, and I love the sushi too. Drinks are marvelous.

    Very surprised about the atmosphere and food here. Can’t believe it is Roy Yamaguchis. Very cold from A/C, dirty floors, bad art, loud banging from the gym upstairs, lots of noisy kids , beer tap wasn’t working and food was not impressive. We all ordered four different dishes plus a starter. The shrimp pasta boosted with 3 tiny shrimp, the gnocchi was boring, fish and chips OK and the best was the squid ink pasta with salmon. Very disappointing. Will not go back.
