The Monte Cristo Sandwich and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes were delicious!
Food was okay, nothing to write home about. Ordered the smash burger which pretty much tastes like an expensive in-n-out burger. Service was poor even when slow. Our waitress was very dismissive and inattentive.
Amazing food. I had the salmon on top of the arugula salad. Salmon was cooked perfectly. All of our food was great.
Ate here Christmas evening. The weather was iffy so most tables were moved indoors. My husband and I were outdoors. They had heat lamps and umbrellas and it was delightful!
The food was outstanding
Got seated in Hotel Californian’s banquet hall as restaurant was full & weren’t seating outdoors.
The food was fine and the service was a bit slow, but fine. The main problem was it was a chilly Christmas Eve and they had all the doors open so the dining room was FRIGID. It would have been warmer to sit outside because there were at least a couple heaters. This was outrageous to me. So we ate as quickly as we could and got out of there so we could get back to a warmer home. This was NOT the ambiance we were hoping for and it definitely killed the Christmas dinner mood. On a warm summer night it would have been lovely, but for over $200 and we had to eat with layers of jackets as quickly as possible? Not acceptable y’all.
Casual dining outside. Near the Wharf, lots to do and see. Friendly staff. Good food at reasonable price, but somewhat limited menu.
fabulous breakfast/brunch, great service - we went back a second morning!
Food was delicious. Beautifully prepared. Avocado toast was just gorgeous. Service was not great. Waitress couldn’t care less , she obviously didn’t want to be there.
Would go back for lunch/ brunch
Multiple issues at this location. Service was sporadic and unresponsive. Main dish was not as listed on menu, which was later apologized for (saying the printed menus hadn’t been ordered yet!?) and hubby’s steak & frites came out cold. considering I ordered the orecchiette pasta based on waitress recommendation, you would think that it would be vocalized that the dish had changed. The menu listed ingredients that included Italian sausage, pine nuts, butternut squash, and rapini but I got only squash and rapini with the pasta, and nothing else including salt or pepper. Seems a bit steep for orecchiette $26.
To add salt to the wound, I asked for cracked pepper, to add flavor to the bland dish, 20 mins later the waitress came back to bring fresh hot fries for hubby to report back there isn’t a single pepper grinder in the restaurant?? Hmm. As a local, I will not be back. So many more places that you can spend $130 for a high quality of food with quality service.
That said, if going for a glass a wine and ambience… this is you place.
Wonderful location (scenic and easy parking), great service and tasty/creative menu. Highly recommend!
Very special outdoor restaurant. Very attentive service and great food.
Very nice casual place on lower state. Food was excellent service was excellent. Will definitely be back
An absolute dream of a restaurant, the food and service were phenomenal. I highly recommend this location.
Out of towners looking for a nice breakfast to start our day. It exceeded our expectations! The outdoor patio is delightful and we felt very safe.
The food was good tasting, a nice mix of fresh ingredients. It could use a little more pop and excitement.
Service was stretched too thin and it took some effort to get attention for service. The staff seemed tired and overwhelmed, they were somewhat friendly but very short.
The Goat Tree Cafe has a charming patio with a good blend of shade and sun. The servers are friendly and courteous, and the food is absolutely delicious! This is one of my favorite places to eat out.
Best salmon ever and the pork belly pasta dish was on point! Hummus and pita were a great starter. Absolutely beautiful outdoor setting.
Very nice place, food was good and the staff were great.
Highly recommend! The food, the service, the vibes, all top notch. I had the smoked salmon toast and my husband had the lemon ricotta pancakes. I was sad when I got to the last bite. I will definitely return next time I’m in the area.
beautiful outdoor setting under palm trees, great food for brunch and huge portions. Great service too.
Great Steak Frites and Humus, among other things. Relaxing patio dining.
The menu sounded delicious, but execution did not match. The cappuccino was so bitter I couldn't finish it. Croissant was baked wrong, crispy outside, but must have been baked too high too quickly because the inside was not layered, just a big clump. Food was okay. Staff were attentive and nice. Probably won't return.
Very poor service, very few diners and limited menu options
This is a great place to go for lunch or Sunday brunch. there is a very nice outdoor patio and it is within easy walking distance of several hotels in the Santa Barbara State Street vicinity.
Great place for brunch.
Not sure why you added 20% service to our bill and still included: suggested tip 15% 20% etc. on the bill.
We almost tipped 40%
Sever was kind enough to inform us.
Please print “tip included” if you add it.
Everything is good except need more cleaning of the floor
They were very shortstaffed so our food took longer than we expected, but everything was delicious. We had steak frites, arugula salad, and orecchiette.
The food was wonderful and the service was excellent!
This may have been a better review, however the host greeted us with “oh good you’re my last party”. The service reflected this as no one was around to fill water ect . THEN as we were eating, SEVERAL mice ran out of the large planter in the middle of the patio. We brought this to staff attention and they didn’t seem to be surprised! Yuck!
The wine selection was good, and I had a quality Pinot Noir with dinner. The dinner menu was somewhat limited, but I felt this helped the restaurant to concentrate on producing quality, tasty dishes rather than catering to every taste. That was certainly true with my burger, which was well cooked and seasoned properly. I had grilled asparagus as a side, and this was also well prepared. Eating outside provided a beautiful view of this area of Santa Barbara. Would definitely recommend and eat there again.
Second time here within 4 weeks. Great food overall and relaxed atmosphere.
The food was good and the patio is beautiful. The overall experience was a bit disappointing. We made a reservation for 8pm as that was an option when making the reservation. Fortunately we arrived a few minutes early as we were promptly told the kitchen closes at 8pm. We were rushed to put our order in so we could have our dinner. The staff, while friendly enough, seemed a bit lost as to what to do with us. We felt like an afterthought.
We spent 3 nights in Santa Barbara and visited Goat Tree 4 times! Such a lovely spot for coffee, lunch and even dinner. And, the people-watching is tops!
Lovely brunch! The Pan Au Chocolat was Devine! The shakshuka and egg white frittata were great. Strong coffee too!
Excellent very fresh food. Limited menu. Service was slow. The ambiance was delightful.
The waiter was attentive and courteous. The avocado toast was really delicious and the monte crist sandwich the best my husband had ever eaten!
