    Chef’s table in the kitchen area. Prestige wine pairing. Very generous plates. Enjoyed the passionate chef’s explanations. Fantastic experience. We recommend very much. Thanks to all the amicale staff!

    Overall: Premium pricing for mediocre food in small portions. Service: Excellent service, great staff. Attentive, friendly, and understanding. They comped most of the food bill after we voiced our displeasure with it. That was unexpected (since we were hungry and did eat most of the food) but very much appreciated. Drinks: Delicious cocktails, nice to see Canadian wines on the menu. Food: The "foccacia" was more like a small flat personal pizza dough than an airy bread - it was also quite small. The saffron mussels (for $22!) included 8 steamed mussels served on ice with a flavourless mayo-like topping that was pretty unappealing. The steak frites were frankly shameful for a French restaurant - that steak was so tough, the portion was tiny, and the fries were cold, limp, and bland. The cod was fine, but again, it was like a half-portion of fish with 4 clams. The bread with red pepper whatever on it was more like cheez-whiz on toast. I'm all for small plates and experimenting, but the flavour and value have to be there. That was an incredibly disappointing meal.

Our kitchen takes pride in sourcing high-quality ingredients, working with nearby farms and sustainable fisheries to create seasonal dishes. Many of our plates feature regional French influences — like the classic rouille served on toasted brioche, a traditional accompaniment to seafood in Provence — or our saffron aioli, made with spices gifted to our chef from a Persian market.     Oh so excellent, as only perfectly prepared and presented French food can be! The service by all the servers was friendly and impeccable. The oysters were fresh with a remarkable mustard and serrano pepper sauce that we kept back for our main course (just in case, so delicious). Charmingly tart purple gin cocktail and a spicy pomegrante cocktail. Very nice French pinot noir from the Loire Valley. The celery and hazelnut salad with lightly sprinkled Stilton cheese was wonderfully refreshing and unique. The duck sweet-sour was one of the best ever and the same for the steak frites, which had not only perfectly grilled, tender beef but a trio of gorgeous sauces - bordelaise, bernaise and a yummy mayo for the frites. Plus a brillant chocolate pot au creme with whipped cream and salty crunchies on top. Did we say yum? Highly recommend.

    Food is really overpriced and I wouldn’t say there is a great selection of dishes. Crab spaghetti was very good but too salty. French onion soup was so so… maybe 7/10. My husband ordered the octopus starter which was delicious all around. Our server (don’t remember her name) was excellent. Once she got to know our jokes she took it all in stride and fell into rhythm with us. Had a before dinner Dubonnet and there was literally one ounce in the glass… I was done in two sips. Also a guess the ventilation is poor as our clothes smelled of the cooking when we got home.

    Wow - the food was amazing. We had the French onion soup - delicious and perfect eating temperature. The pork, the crab spaghetti and the truffle pommes aligot with bordelaise sauce. The ambiance was lovely, as was our server, and the cocktails were good too.
