About Girl & the Goat
Girl & the Goat opened in 2010 with the goal of serving a family style menu of tasty, bold flavored foods in a fun and lively setting. To enhance the experience we offer a selection of wines from around the world with a focus on small producers, a rotating list of craft beers, and a list of fun cocktails created by our bartenders.
Located at 809 W Randolph, Girl & the Goat was one of the first establishments in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor. We offer a variety of seating choices, including a comfortable lounge, bar seats, standard table seating, and four seats close enough to the kitchen line that you might be asked to help. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.

Special Events & Promotions:
The Underground Goat, our 18 person private dining room, is not your typical private dining space and the name encapsulates exactly what you're looking forward to. Located under the main dining room, you and your guests will be lead downstairs, through the restaurant and into the "staff only" halls of the Goat. The room itself echoes the casual, rustic atmosphere of the main dining room and is host to the restaurant's wine and liquor stock - don't be surprised if you see the hardworking bar staff sneak in a few times to keep things rolling upstairs. Chef Stephanie Izard will design a family-style menu for you (dietary restrictions will not be ignored) and our beverage director will recommend wine, beer and/or a signature cocktail to match what Stephanie comes up with.

Girl & the Goat Ratings and Reviews
Have been wanting to try this highly rated restaurant but finding a table at reasonable times is nearly impossible. Finally took a late night table. It is all worth it. The pig’s face was incredible. Crispy skin tender meat and flavorful with tamarind sauce a perfect match. The goat belly I think is on par with the more ubiquitous pork belly and healthier with much leaner meat. Both the roasted shishito and beets were delicious. Wow! Can’t find these in other comparable restaurants. Highly memorable and recommended
Owen was amazing! He made it a great experience for us. He explained the menu and friendly and helpful. Super attentive. Would go back in a heartbeat. Every dish was explained to us when they came out . Wonderful experience
Always an energetic room with great sounds and smells of food!! Gabrielle in reservations was wonderful to deal with given my partner's disability and was very understanding and compassionate! It was great to see Kaylee back, she has always taken great care of us in the past and did an excellent job. I have yet to dine there when Stephanie is there...I just always miss her! My partner has met her before. I hope to get that pleasure one day soon. Also thanks to Stephanie for her efforts towards fundraising for ALS, which has affected us directly!! That is why I know she is not just a super talented Chef but a wonderful person!!
My husband and I had just re-watched season four of Top Chef and decided to make reservations at Girl and the Goat! I can't believe we hadn't gone yet considering we live less than ten minutes away and love a good meal. We got the happy challah-days (the bread was warm, and the toppings mixed together were a great balance of tangy and creamy... really something special), pan-fried shishito peppers (spicy but with a great smokiness to them), seared diver scallops (seemed like it would have a lot going on, but it all worked together!), and goat empanadas (I don't eat land meat, but my husband said they were fantastic!). That was the exact amount of food we needed. We finished off the meal by sharing the sticky tasty crunchy toffee yummy cake... by far the best thing I ate there! I took my first bite, and actually went "mmmmm." The toffee crunch at the bottom brought everything together, and the gooseberries were the perfect surprise pop of flavor. Plus, the cake was warm and served with ice cream! My only complaint about our visit was that it was a touch too loud. The waiter and I struggled to hear each other. Overall, a great evening. Chicagoans must at least go once to Girl and the Goat to pay homage, and visitors should make the trip to come taste some great food!
We had a great time at Girl & the Goat, except for they were running behind and we were seated nearly 20 minutes after our reservation and several of our items were delivered to the wrong table. Needless to say, we were there longer than we thought we would be. But, the food was amazing and we left with full bellies. I would recommend Girl & the Goat but make sure you have enough time to enjoy the experience.
Due to a glitch on Open Table’s end we missed our reservation and Girl & the Goat made sure they got us the next available table when we arrived. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The food was amazing! There was no way I was leaving my visit to Chicago without eating here!
Fabulous!! I have wanted to eat at the restaurant ever since Stephanie made Top Chef. And then with her making Iron Chef the impetus was even stronger. It was worth the wait. Now I can’t wait to go again....just requires some planning as the restaurant must be booked weeks in advance.
I had been trying to get reservations for a while and was finally able to make it in for my birthday. It was worth the wait! This has been the best experience I’ve had so far in the city since I moved here a couple of months ago. The food was delicious and paired perfectly with the drinks. The service was even better. Our waitress was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. She definitely made the experience even better. In summary, great drinks, food, and ambiance. I recommend it 100%
The food was good. However, the seat they gave be was broken, slanted and very uncomfortable. One of the dishes We ordered was the roasted beet salad with green beans, anchovy, avacado. There were only 2 green beans in the dish. With all the hype I was Very disappointed
We finally were able to get a reservation and it was fantastic! The restaurant is very casual and the wait staff Is very nice and helpful. It’s basically a tapas place so everyone can share, which adds to the fun. We had a great time and can’t wait to go back.
Well wishes autograph from Top Chef winner, Stephanie Izard as I’ve been a huge fan of hers! The food was very flavourful where weird combination surprisingly paired really well together. Ie. salted caramel and steak. Excited to have our first anniversary dinner here! Great service and we got seated before our reservation. A must visit when visiting Chicago!
