Girl & the Goat
Girl & the Goat opened in 2010 with the goal of serving a family style menu of tasty, bold flavored foods in a fun and lively setting. To enhance the experience we offer a selection of wines from around the world with a focus on small producers, a rotating list of craft beers, and a list of fun cocktails created by our bartenders.
Located at 809 W Randolph, Girl & the Goat was one of the first establishments in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor. We offer dinner service Monday through Sunday. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.
Please note: a 4% surcharge will be added to each guest check to ensure health and medical benefits for all of our valued full time team members.

After a decade of wanting to make it to girl & the goat, happenstance happened. Outrageously good, thoughtfully simple, and perfectly executed original and creative food accompanied by a full dose of caring, genuine, personable, gracious, prompt, and hilariously entertaining service. It is hard to imagine operating or working in a restaurant with such high expectations from everyone that walks through the front door. The goat humbly delivered. Trevor crushed. Oh and the Chablis is lit. 10/10
Excellent food and service
Anniversary was amazing!! We enjoyed all the dishes especially the pork
This place was phenomenal. The food and drinks were all top notch. The flavor combinations were all so amazing. You're taste buds are definitely in for a treat here.
Food is absolutely amazing! We drive 3 hours just to come here to eat, and were so excited when you finally opened back up! Truly some of the BEST food in Chicago hands down!
Amazing food and service. We tried almost the entire menu and everything was fantastic! Would highly recommend
Not worth the hype... The place is quite large. Plenty of spacing between tables and nice decor. Service was on point and very good as any place should be. The food...disappointing. Had the empanadas and the scallops. The empanadas, (Colombian style dough-corn) great crunch and flavor for the dough. And this is were it stopped. The filling, bland, without true flavor and the portion...small. The addition of sauce paining the plate and accompanied veggie slaw like mounds...way too busy and takes away rather than compliments the star of the dish. 2 miniscule empanadas $17.00. Maybe coming from S. Florida where we have a plethora of styles, shapes and innovative ways of preparing this makes them fall short but overall, not impressed. The scallops. Well cooked, too much going on though. The blood orange and pistachios along with beets does work but too busy. Was it scallops with sauce or sauce with scallops. Liked it better than the empanadas but nit spectacular. And again...$18 for 2 scallops, and small at that, over priced. Not a place where a good value is achieved. Wines are limited and feel cocktails is where they put their emphasis. This place could be better, much better, perhaps even great. Falls below average as it let me down in what could be based on reviews. Glad for the good service and the prompt check at the end. Many other and better options nearby. So if you go, go for drinks as the bar area is nice, but the rest in my opinion, falls short...way short.
Amazing ambiance! Understandably so it was a condensed menu because of covid but I really thought there wasn’t enough to choose from. I had high hopes for the food, but I found that everything we got was very acidic? Just wasn’t what I was expecting. We got the scallops, salad, green beans, and whole fish. Salad was actually the best, scallops were my least favorite although I LOVE scallops. I don’t eat red meat, but I imagine the meat dishes may have been better. Don’t think I’ll return until the menu is larger but really glad I tried it! Had a good time!
Spectacular!! Every bite was amazing.
Currently the menu is limited because they just reopened and are short staffed. Also the oysters tasted off and felt a bit sick after
Amazing! Food was great! Staff was awesome! 10/10 will return.
Totally understand why this place is so hard to get into. Fantastic. Loved our server Gary too.
Food has a fantastic balance pf quality ingredients and creativity.
Very attentive service. Efficient. Our server answered our questions and gave us appropriate space. Would come back.
Unfortunately, I missed a call from the restaurant which I now assume means they would be closed on the day of my reservation. It was cancelled so I rescheduled it without thinking. Upon arrival, I noticed everything locked down. I'm on a long solo trip so I was looking forward to finally visiting! However, I commend them for staying safe and protecting their staff and guests. I'm positive my experience would have been fantastic! Five stars for your effort in keeping Covid at bay.
Food was amazing, seriously the best in this city. It’s consistently good. However, I wouldn’t ordered drinks again, they were premixed and the alcohol content was very low (esp for $15). The service was outstanding.
Everything we ate was delicious. We could only dine outdoor, so it wasn’t the full restaurant/ambiance experience. It was still really enjoyable.
Went there for my birthday. Very warm dining out at a 30-degree night. Awesome food and drinks. Great great service
approachable but inventive menu, prompt service, adhered to COVID guidelines
Such good food and terrific service. Girl & The Goat is always a winner!
Everything we ordered was as delicious as expected and we appreciated the outdoor dining and social distancing measures. After 10 years in business, still one of the best restaurants in Chicago.
Solo había brunch y un menu q era el mismo para todos, demasiado caro y la comida no me gusto para nada!
The brunch was amazing! We will definitely be back!
Went for brunch I was expecting much more. It was an expensive not tasty pre fix menu.
The food was delicious as always. The service was attentive. Randolph Street was much quieter than usual due to some street closures, which was nice for the noise level and ambience. It was pleasant to sit outside.
The food here is absolutely incredible. It was a meal to remember. While Chicago had indoor dining closed, we ate outside in the heated tent. It was warm and cozy. I would've frozen outside to eat this meal though. Required dining in the city!
I don't like prefix menu and would not have gone had I known that. the portions were too small to share. The server did say we could ask for additional portions however when we did we were informed that they were out of the poached egg that goes with the steak. The donuts were nothing special and a little dry.My daughter said her donut had lots of apple in it. My donut had none.It was extremely cold in the tent even though we sat next to a heater. We have eaten at The Girl and The Goat before and absolutely love it but this brunch was a little disappointing.
The team did a super job, given the cold/windy weather and the outdoor dining limits. Food was awesome and staff was relaxed and lovely. Cannot wait to go back!
50% of dishes were a hit (Poke, Ribeye Skewers most memorable). Brussel Sprouts were absurdly salty and white mousse dessert missed the mark. It was a comfortable dinner given the COVID outdoor dining requirements, service was pleasant though could've been more attentive. Food just wasn't worth the money paid unfortunately, was really looking forward to the dinner there too.
Food and server were both fantastic! Host staff not so much
Amazing meal. Finally was able to utilize this gift card I received for my birthday! Can’t wait to go back and try everything else on the menu
Such a memorable dining experience. Highly recommend the black bass and Brussels sprouts.
Given the 40 ish degrees and wind outside, I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable our experience was with heating lamps and warm service. Brought our own blanket which helped! Very good food - green beans, black bass, excellent braised goat special. Yummy sweet potato sticky pudding!
Love this place. Affordable and staff were very nice
A classic Chicago stable with incredible food and service. A fun atmosphere is created by the cozy space and eccentric servers. Unique craft cocktails make it hard not to try them all.
Great food, great service and overall good night out!
Rib eye 5/5
Brussel sprouts 4/5
Green beans 4/5
Salmon poke 2/4 (raw salmon cubes with charred rice crispy bits spindles here and there)
Goat special 2/4 (can’t recommend.:: unless you like smoke flavored goat leg)
We were a little worried about being outside in 45 degree weather but they made us very comfortable. Service was amazing and the food was as USA outstanding!!! Love this place.
Food, drink, and service always on point here!
Outstanding outdoor sunday brunch.
