Girl & the Goat opened in 2010 with the goal of serving a family style menu of tasty, bold flavored foods in a fun and lively setting. To enhance the experience we offer a selection of wines from around the world with a focus on small producers, a rotating list of craft beers, and a list of fun cocktails created by our bartenders.

Located at 809 W Randolph, Girl & the Goat was one of the first establishments in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor. We offer dinner service Tuesday through Sunday. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.

Visiting Chicago and wanted to visit this outstanding restaurant. It did not disappoint. Not that I’m any “Top Chef” caliber cook, but I can honestly say that each and every plate was unique, full of delicious flavors, and was served at the perfect time. At 58, I can honestly say it’s one of the best meals I have ever eaten. And, everyone was attentive and friendly. A great experience!

The dishes were outstanding. We were so happy to go through almost the whole menu. Our group of 6 asked that if any dishes didn’t have enough for 6 that you add enough for all guests. Like the oysters - 4 - so we said can we have 2 more. Or the shank only comes with 2 small naan so we asked for more naan. Our server ordered extra full dishes for our table. We didn’t need the extra food, there was more than enough, we just needed a naan or two, but it also ran up the bill exponentially. It soured our experience a bit but the food and ambience was great, I’d recommend with that caveat if you’re going with a group.

Not at all the same place it used to be. Let's start with the service. We got highly recommended a wine that we weren't allowed to taste. We tried and didn't like it. Still we were made to keep it. Food definitely isn't what it used to be here. Chef Izard needs to spend time with the cooks and train them more. The noise level was also literally off the roof. We couldn't even hear each other at the table. Really bad experience at a place we used to love and work to get reservations months in advance. Hope it comes back although I am not sure if I would ever try.

really great food overall for a decent price. absolutely loved the brioche with the pumpkin butter. the mains were short rib and the pork shank were so delicious. gotta try the plantain cake for dessert!

Outstanding in all areas. The food was exquisite and the brownie sundae for dessert was an explosion of flavor. Gary our waiter provided exceptional service. There’s a reason why the reservations are sometimes hard to come by here. This place is a perfect mix of ambiance, class, flavor, and culture. Can’t wait to come back!!!

Our waitress was outstanding, wish I can remember her name. Our first time and we were just so impressed with all the flavors and presentation. The bus person was really attentive and we never had a dirty plate on our table for long. Excellent experience and will go back again soon!

Wasn’t expecting community style dining - the tables on either side of us were only ~6-8 inches apart so we could hear their convos extremely well. Overall great food and service, but just a heads up it’s not an intimate setting!

Girl and the Goat has always been one of my favorite restaurants. I haven't had a chance to go in several years and this time I brought my young daughter who loves trying different types of food. We had a great time and while she tried everything, she loved the goat empanadas and the roasted pig face with egg. I'm still a big fan of the goat liver mousse and have it every time I come. It was nice to return to an old favorite and see that the food is still wonderful. The vegetarian dishes are always delicious; service is consistent and very attentive; and they have a good drink menu as well. My only feedback is that the food sometimes comes a little too fast.

Was able to sit at the Chef’s Table and it was an amazing experience the staff is so nice and had amazing recommendations. i am a broccoli fan so that dish was literally so amazing. The tempura whitefish is so buttery and delicious as well as the chickpea. Wonderful atmosphere!

I really enjoyed many aspects of this experience. I do need to tell you that I was so disappointed by the short rib. I had never had one before and expected this to be a good first try. It was unbelievably tough when I was expecting melt-in-the-mouth. And we only had a butter knife to cut it with. It made me so sad. The rest of our dishes were excellent. Thank you.

Wonderfully designed meal. Great service from the hostess to the waiter to the kitchen staff. Sat at the Chef’s table and had an amazing meal and it was fun to get a bit of behind the scenes look.

My husband and I came to Chicago for our first time to attend a concert. I knew when we made this trip, that I wanted to eat here. I barely was able to get a reservation 6 weeks in advance. I watched Stephanie Izard win Top Chef:Chicago and have always admired and respected her. This restaurant is a testament to her ability to create amazing food and her attention to detail.

We arrived early and sat at the bar, waiting for our table. The bar staff was quick to address us and get our drinks. After being shown to our table, our server Stephanie asked if we had allergies or dietary concerns. I’m deathly allergic to shellfish. She marked what I should avoid on my menu. Which actually saved my life, because I was considering one item that I did not know contained shellfish.

Stephanie’s menu is designed to be progressive. We ordered the green beans, tempura whitefish, goat empanada, and the beef short ribs. Everything was perfectly seasoned and each element satisfied a different taste sensation. It was the most delicious, most well-balanced meal I’ve ever eaten in my life.

Bottom line is this. Sometimes when you have expectations of a bucket-list place for years and you experience it and it’s disappointing. Not here. It exceeded my expectation on every level. The only thing to top it would be to meet Ms. Izard and get her autograph. But, if you’ve never been, please go. This place is special and I promise that you won’t regret it.

My fiancé and I visited for the first time to celebrate my recent promotion. All I can say is it was such a treat! The service was great, our server Drew was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Every single dish was incredible — we can’t stop talking about those green beans and the white fish especially! We can’t wait to visit again soon.
