Giovannis Ratings and Reviews
Giovanni's continues to set the standard for classic fine dining and gracious, attentive service. The food is impeccable and perfectly prepared, the wine list is broad and all-encompassing, and the overall experience is fantastic. When you want to have a special and memorable evening out with "that certain someone" Giovanni's is absolutely THE place to go. We look forward to our next visit.
Very disappointed in what once was a fine dining experience. I literally had to ask 4 times for a black napkin. The service was slow and not the attentiveness that this restaurant once displayed. $28 for a kids pasta and a meatball leaves a
It to be desired.
This is a has been place in my opinion. Many new paces to try and dine. I did not end
Joy that when you send food back not cooked as requested they actually bring the hunk of meat back out for you to hear their opinion. Not acceptable.
Giovanni's has old-school service-- many entrees are prepared tableside--and the room has a collection of Cubist paintings. Going there is an event. We had shrimp Genovese and cannelloni, well presented and with understated flavors. It can afford to be expensive; don't be surprised.
I love the food at Giovannis. It seems to have got busier over the last few years, or maybe it's because there are more tables crammed in, but some of the ambience has been lost. We were in a corner, but were very close to a loud person at the next table and towards the end of the evening, a louder group further away. The service was fine, although not as personable as it used to be.
The Service started off iffy ordering wine from an Ipad? We were sat awhile before we received menus and the server, who never introduced himself asked what we wanted? The appetizer was decent but the entree was much better (halibut). Can't go wrong with the banana foster for dessert. Pricey but it is an upscale place.
We were driving from Chicago to Boston and spent th night nearby. We will stop there again just to go to Giovanni’s! My husband knows wines and said the wine list was excellent and ar reasonable prices! It is a hidden gem. You have to know the address to find it.
I am not from the Cleveland area and chose Giovanni's mainly based on location and online menu. Although it is not easy to find being in the lower level of an office building, it was well worth the search! Everything was excellent--service, ambiance, food, everything. I would highly recommend it for a business dinner or a special occasion. It is a classy establishment!
It had been a while since I've been to visit Giovonni's. The last time I visited, the food was amazing. I will say that the new decor is fabulous! The service was good, nothing to complain or be excited about, except for the greeters at the door...they were extremely welcoming and nice. Wine list is extensive and fairly priced. The food was mixed. Great tasting items were the fried stuffed mushrooms, ham & eggs special menu app, 5 cheese mac special menu side, and the coffee was very tasty. Items that lacked flavor were both our steaks (bone in filet & strip), lobster bisque from special menu app (very fishy tasting, unpleasant after taste), and our desserts were just OK. The presentation of our steaks on a live edge wood cutting board was FABULOUS. Too bad the flavor was lacking to match. For the price, we have many more options in the area to choose from that offer a more overall great tasting dinner, especially steaks.
The waitress was not familiar with the menu. The rib steak for 2 was not prepared the way we requested. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary....had we not ordered dessert this occasion would not have been addressed by the restaurant. Really a candle in the dessert...for the amount of money we spent a complimentary dessert should have been sent to the table. Very disappointing.
Our experience dining at Giovanni's about a week ago was terrific. It was on the occasion of a couple of birthdays among a group of women and as Giovanni's has such excellent quality food and drinks, it was perfect. The group was seated at a large central table and all the ladies enjoyed their meals. Our server was super efficient, attentive and considerate. It was a pleasure to have her be the one to help us that evening. Thanks!
