Here’s what you need to know: I’m really surprised at the quality and flavor profile of this mega popular restaurant which is always in the top 5 highest grossing restaurants in the US. I thought it would be more of a factory serving tourists and business lunches but in fact the service was intelligent and warm , the flavor profile of the food was excellent for all 3 things we tried. The house made Casprecce pasta was well beyond our expectations. The lemon zest freshness with the creamy yet airy ricotta was just WOW! The filet mignon sliders were cooked to perfection with a perfect brioche bun and terrific hand cut fries. The Chilean sea bass was delicious and perfectly cooked but the escarole was extremely gritty. That needed better cleaning and management should take note. We ended up struggling through that one. The ambiance in the open air terrace with perfect weather was just spectacular. The Soumoni Baked Alaska dessert with the three gelatos over a chocolate crust with lizards cherries was excellent - wait for it to thaw for about 5-7 minutes before you get it to be just right. It exceeded our expectations by a lot. Service by Jeff was outstanding and kitchen was on it with expedient delivery. Spent about $60/person for lunch.

The service and ambiance were excellent. The food however was mixed. Some items were good some left more to be desired. The Caesar salad was below average. The dressing was flavorless. The bread was just ok. The crab bisque was average. The octopus was dry. The ribeye was excellent and the pasta was good.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the outdoor patio which was much calmer atmosphere than the interior restaurant. Beautiful summer weather, attentive and knowable staff, as well as incredible flavors made for a lovely evening. Top dishes for us were the cacio y Pepe arancini, roasted beet salad, hen of the woods mushrooms, filet, and the banana gelato.

My husband and were celebrating ourwedding anniversary and were excited to go this restaurant. We've both been there before and he has never had a bad meal. Me, on the other hand, not so much. While the service, ambiance, etc., was great, they could not get the cook on my steak right. The first time I was there I had a filet and the inside of the piece of steak was like gelatin. Even the chef couldn't explain this. Last night, we order the Chicago Cut (which we've had time and time again at many of the other Gibson's locations and it's been excellent) and had to send it back twice. It was ordered as medium rare. Not a huge task for a steakhouse, right? Well, it was ice cold, absolutely no flavor, the texture was chewy, it was not juicy and totally inedible. Twice! The waiter was great, apologized profusely and we, of course, gave him an appropriate tip even though he comp'd the steak. What's most disappointing is that everyone I know has had a great experience here but both times, my steak has been awful. I'll go back, but won't ever order a steak here again.

We have been to Italia several times and tonight’s meal was outstanding. The seafood tower, sides and the steaks were excellent. My 3 year old grandson ate the whole bowl of pasta, made me very happy. One of the best views in the city. Patrick and his team really excelled. So good
