Spectacular dining experience with a great view of Chicago. Service and food were excellent.
Food and service were great. I was surprised that, in an expensive and tasteful restaurant like yours, that there is no dress code. There were a number of diners dressed in torn jeans and old T shirts. I don’t get it!
We had a beautiful and great date must attend again
We had a great experience all around to celebrate our anniversary - it felt special without being too over the top. We had fun, perfect views of the city, great service and yummy food. We will definitely return!
Outstanding restaurant...the city view was exceptional! Service was great as was the food..
The bar on 2nd floor was very noisy. Moved to the 3rd floor to have dinner and you were now in a different world.
Enjoyed the restaurant choice, you will too! will be back.
Tony was our server and was absolutely perfect! Super service, great recommendations and accommodating through the entire meal! Will go back and always ask for him as our server!!
There is no better view of the River. Food was great . Try the lobster cocktail. Prices same as 5 star restaurants in the loop.
We were initially seated, served our water and iced tea...and sat for about 10-15minutes before my guest waved down a different server to take our order.
I requested a black napkin - from yet another server - which I never received. I ate my entire meal with my white napkin on the table next to my plate.
Food was great-perfect. Patio was spectacular. Service was poor-which is not typical of this restaurant. I dine here at least once/week, so I’m hoping that they just had an off day.
The food and wait staff was very good. The only negative was when I arrived on the 3rd floor to be seated for my 11:30 am lunch reservation. The hostess asked me if I wanted to sit indoors or outside and I responded indoors by the glass windows (as there were many tables open). When we were seated, we were seated at a table furthest away from the window!
I wasn’t pleases to hear that the panna cotta was taken off the dessert menu.
We live a couple blocks from this new location and it was our first time there this week. What a lovely meal we had, and the service was outstanding. Server Nathan was charming, well-informed and attentive. All his wine and food suggestions were excellent. Most definitely going back! (and watching a storm roll into town from our window table was a bonus)
Mother’s Day celebration
Went for boyfriend's birthday - the food was really good, it's not exorbitant, and the pasta is not your bare bones plain pasta. I'd recommend the CASERECCE. I think it's hyped up because it's new, the steak was really good... it seems like it's trying to be RPM (down to the white sport coats for wait staff). I'd recommend it though! Arancini pictured.
Beautiful dining room with a perfect view of the river and skyline looking East. The staff was top notch and the food was amazing. Definitely a phenomenal place for a special occasion dinner. We went for Mother's Day and they did a phenomenal job of making it so special for my Mom. Drinks are awesome, and the food is very high quality. Definitely recommend.
Went for Mother’s Day and had a perfect experience. The staff was friendly, the views of the river were stunning and everyone was pleased with their meal. Mom’s all received a rose, chocolate strawberry and sorbet served in champagne.
The Food, view and service we are best in class.
Over the top service, and great food and views; pricey!!
First, the good news. Very nice female employee inside main entrance and on 3rd floor to greet you. That’s it for the Good news. Waiting for elevator to take you from ground floor to Restaurant on 3, unfortunately only one Elevator so you wait for the employees to move banquet tables, Large Cartons etc before you can get on. Then you go to Third floor where you are told your seating choice is unavailable and asks if you want to go to 2nd floor Bar area, they have a similar seating choice there. Of course it’s behind a row of liquor bottles. Meal was good Ice Teas sat on the table empty for the majority of time. And. Then........ the elevator to leave. WOW ! 6 different attempts to squeeze on between tables chairs carts, employees Horrendous ! Maybe during the evening is better because as a lunch spot. Skip it too much aggravation
Acceptance into the Bar association
Gibsons is always great to us. They were very accommodating with our reservation and the service is fantastic, not to forget that the view is amazing too. The food is delicious and there are many options for every palate
The team at Gibsons could not have cared anymore about me and my party.
They took care of us like family.
Our night at Gibsons Italia did not start out promising. We had a 7:30 reservation. The hostess informed us nonchalantly that our table wouldn’t be ready for another 30 minutes, no explanation. Close to that time my boyfriend checked in and were told that a table was not yet available because a large group required “simultaneous seating”; the host offered us a table in the very crowded and noisy bar that we declined, and then said he didn’t know when a table was going to be ready. Just as we were preparing to go to another restaurant we were offered a table on the upstairs patio which we took because we were now almost 45 min past our reservation time and it was a pleasant, if windy, evening. A server arrived and announced the specials. Two of our party were vegan and when they asked a question he glossed over it and offered them no guidance with the menu. The server then disappeared. After not seeing him for 20 min my boyfriend stopped another server, Lucas, and explained our situation and inquired if we could order drinks and food. Lucas was fantastic and took great care of us for the rest of the meal. Our dining experience was saved by that turn of events!
Great service throughout the entire night and topped off with a wonderfully unexpected light dessert tray that was above expectations.
Thank you for all your assistance, will definitely be back again.
Offers fantastic views, superb service and great food.
Goofy waiter and mediocre food. Good drinks and great atmosphere.
Fabulous dining experience. Delicious food from the kale salad to the gold spaghetti carbonara to the veal milanese and the desert finale of the hazelnut chocolate mousse. Wonderful personable service, attentive, lively. Gorgeous waterfront view. Nice wine/cocktail list. A winner!
The food, the ambiance and the view were simply GREAT!
We absolutely loved the atmosphere and the vibe. The views were so beautiful and reminded me of my true love for downtown Chicago. Food was excellent- best steak I have had in a while!
Sat on the deck attached to the restaurant. Amazing views. Food and Wine were wonderful. Celebrated my daughter’s graduation .
Gibson Italia is breathtakingly beautiful, but the food was sadly, very disappointing. We ordered a wedge salad. I requested ranch dressing, which they did not think they had. I'm guessing that they quickly mixed something together, because it had no flavor at all. We also ordered two pasta dishes; one was gluten free, and the pasta was al dente. Gluten Free pasta should not be al dente. It needs to be cooked all the way through. The other pasta dish was a meat ragu and the meat itself was extremely dry, even in the sauce. The service was excellent and the restaurant is gorgeous, with exceptional views of the city, but the food was awful. I will not go there for dinner again. They need to up their game and be in line with the other Gibsons restaurants.
Bar in the 2nd floor to welcome and “set the tone” is brilliant. However, the small single elevator is a clear constraint to the business.
Terrible food. Sea bass tasted like it had been there for years
Great view . Too noisy.
My steak sliders were undercooked - they tried to cook more but it took a while
If this was my only time to Gibson's, I'd not be impressed. The pasta special dish was just so-so and for no protein, quite expensive and a very small portion. Waiter mistakenly offered us shaved truffles as part of the special, then returned to say, oops, that would be a $30 per plate upcharge. But I know how good Gibson's is, and this was just a blip on an otherwise great radar.
We had the most amazing experience here! The service was exceptional and the food delicious!
We got there about 1 hour before our reservation for a drink at the bar. I couldn't believe how packed the bar was, but we were able to get seats fairly quickly.
We were celebrating a birthday and shared an app, salad, pasta, side and a 14 oz steak. We ordered the steak medium and it was cooked perfectly.
The view from the dining room is lovely and most seats face towards the river so you have a great view.
The only downside was we were seated about 30 minutes after our reservation. The team was extremely apologetic and this didn't hinder our experience by any means.
It was a bit loud and had reservation for 8pm but not seated til 8:25. I was hungry! Too many folks trying to be seen
Absolutely fantastic. They check off all the boxes with top notch steak and fish while bringing the Italian focus. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu for dinner. The outdoor seating setup and view is second to none on the river. Their service rivals Chicago Cut... and that's saying a lot. Try the sliders at lunch!
It was average. Average food, average everything. Wouldn’t go back.
2nd time eating there and both experiences have been outstanding. Food is amazing and the service is spectacular.
