The waitress seemed to be in a hurry to move us out but other than that everything was amazing.
Great - quality food and service.
adam the head server/waiter was exceptional. food and drink recommendations were spot on.
Great view looking out along the Chicago River towards Lake Michigan. This is the place to take out of towners if you want to impress. Also a great option for happy hour. The food is outstanding as well.
I did not enjoy the tagliatelle with duck and orange zest which in unfortunately ordered as my meal. The seven year aged risotto with scallops was great, and so was their version of the wedge salad. The New York strip was also great. I suppose steak is the right choice for an entree.
Classy location...amazing food, fantastic cocktails, first-class ambiance, wait-staff super (Taxi and Alexis were excellent!)...thanks...!
Great view, great food, and excellent recommendations from the waiter!!!
Go for a drink, better steak elsewhere.
Excellent views of the Chicasgo river from the 2nd and 3rd floors. Dinner is on the 3rd, bar the 2nd.
I made reservation for a business dinner, and hostess wouldn't seat us until all there. Not cool. We spent around $600 for a meal, and you couldn't seat us? Really? I'm making a multi-million dollar client stand around the bar? I even told hostess it was a business dinner and we really need to be seated, but she wouldn't do it. Steaks were just OK, and for the price I'd expect it to be amazing. Waiter was good for the most part, but we did have to ask twice for 1-2 things. If you're only 2 people, beware of the half-circle shaped tables where you sit up against glass and sit next to eachother. You'll get the amazing view, but I think this is weird and uncomfortable given the number of dollar signs. I didn't sit there, but noted that I'd be really upset if that was my table. Service was off at the bar, too. Bartenders chatting while we stood there waiting to order, and didn't ring out my tab when I asked so that we could sit down. $80+ pasta was packed full of truffles, but way too al dente. Great flavor, but undercooked. My party of 5 all had different steaks, and everyone thought they were just OK, not great. Will go to one of the other amazing steak restaurants in Chicago next time.
Love the food, wine and ambiance!
service was good not over powering and food excellent
Service was good, ambience nice, but value was not great and food not that creative and left much to be desired. We expected so much more from a Gibson’s entity and left disapointed. Puzzled why this place is in such high demand. So many other steak places in Chicago with better credentials. Take a pass.
It was our first time at this Gibson’s location. It didn’t disappoint. With all my food allergies, I always worry. Petals put my mind at ease and was wonderful. The staff included a few that we knew from Oakbrook, so it made it feel like home.
Hands down one of the best places to go eat. I recommend to EVERYONE. It never disappoints. Thank you!
I thought everything from Service, Food and Atmosphere were all Top Notch!!! Highly Recommend. I can not wait to go back when it will be warmer and we can enjoy the outdoor dinning!
Fabulous, contemporary setting! Food was absolutely amazing! One of the best dining views in Chicago! Very busy, great vibe our server was fantastic and made our special occasion most wonderful! Thank you Lucas!! We will definitely be back!
Excellent! Our first time and we will be back! Everything was spectacular! We had an amazing waiter and support staff, the food was fantastic, the view incredible and can't wait to go back.
Amazing staff, ambiance and food.
John our server was amazing! Excellent services! Attentive in every way!
We really enjoyed the afternoon. We celebrated a 75th Birthday. The staff was wonderful. The food was
very good. They sent over complimentary dessert plate that was beautiful.
Stunning. One of the best restaurants I've been to, and I'm spoilt. Food, staff, views all exceptional. If I lived in Chicago I'd eat here until I was bankrupt.
We read reviews on Open Table, Chicago Magazine, and Yelp beforehand so we avoided some of the dishes others didn't care for. A little research helped and we enjoyed our meal immensely, but it wasn't relaxing. We were rushed through the meal. Our server was friendly but I felt he wanted us out. I could understand this if we dawdled, but we ordered drinks, an appetizer, a pasta course, dinners, and sides. We didn't skimp. When we said we were too full for dessert, our server seemed elated and brought us the check immediately. The food was good, but I'll never go back.
Our meal was delicious, the service perfect because they did not rush us, and the view of the river amazing!
Great friendly staff and attentive service.
The food was pretty fabulous and a great overall experience!
the service is good but a bit to expedite for a Friday night. as soon as a olate was finish - the next one arrived - so no time to enjoy the wine in between. also check was brought up while the wine was not even finish. So a bit to rushed. Otherwise - good food , good view and good service
Friday was my fifth or possibly sixth visit. The service is outstanding the food is fantastic. It’s a great scene. It’s expensive but it really feels like you’re getting the best of the best. The servers and bartenders and hostesses do a great job. I just love this place and cannot stop recommending it.
It was perfect! Service was quick, we got there early though. Great seat by the window and awesome food and drinks!
Dad and family visiting from Mexico
The space is beautiful with an incredible view of the river and city, the food is amazing, but the restaurant is a bit too loud, they need to do something to make it quieter. Also, the service was a bit off. Our waiter kept coming by saying he was too busy to come by. It wasn't bad service by any means, it just was not as good as you would expect from Gibsons.
Such a great experience. Service was too notch. And you cannot beat the view!
For my wife’s birthday celebration.
Spectacular view, service and menu. This is the hot spot in downtown Chicago currently, without question. My friend and I had a great time. The entire staff was very kind, courteous and engaging.
Only criticism would be the noise level, which was pretty intense.
First, the Positives: Really beautiful location. Fantastic service, just like at Gibson restaurants in the city and 'burbs. The Negatives? The food. I REALLY wanted to like Gibson's Italia. But the grass feed bone-in filet I had was underwhelming for a 60+ dollar steak. It was cooked properly. It just wasn't a good piece of meat. My dinner companion had the same thing and we both agreed - not up to Gibson's standards. What gives? We ordered to pasta side dishes. Again? Underwhelming. The pasta was served cold and was nothing special in taste or preparation. And finally? Gibson's deserts! Even a bad meal can be saved by the traditional tower of chocolate mouse pie. Uh... nope. Not at Gibson's Italia. 12 bucks for a tiny piece of chocolate cake that was, again, underwhelming. We stopped by the Rush street steakhouse on the way back home and had a proper Gibson's dessert. Final verdict? It may have Gibson's on the name, but it's not a Gibson's restaurant.
Such a great experience all around! Fantastic service, food and view
Had a wonderful time for our anniversary. Thanks you!
We made. 9:30 pm reservation on a Friday many weeks in advance and we looking forward to our dinner. We were seated around 9:45. When you go to make steak houses you go there for the food and the experience.
We were so rushed through our entire meal- we had not even finished the salad that our main courses arrived. I felt like the wait staff were grabbing the plates even before we had finished eating. I still had food on my fork and they were ready to grab my plate. It just took away from the whole experience and we did not get to enjoy our meal.
Absolutely fantastic. Not many better views in Chicago dining scene. Food was excellent.
I have been to Gibsons Italia several times. This time I came with a good friend who used to live in Chicago and travels a lot. The food was very good but our server was poor. She seemed put off by our asking basic questions about how the food was prepared and did not appear knowledgeable about the food. She made what was otherwise a nice lunch at a high end restaurant with a nice ambiance, not as enjoyable as it had been for my other visits.
Excellent! Seafood was a star. Views are awesome. Very expensive.
very small portions, very high price, very nice views, average service. Recommend, no, go back again, no.
