This dining experience was absolutely wonderful. The seating and ambience were pleasant. The food was spectacular and the prices were reasonable for what you’re ordering. I would definitely eat here again.

Gertrude's Restaurant is a great place to visit for a meal and then take a tour of the BMA or tour their gardens. The ambiance at the restaurant is fabulous, and the waitstaff is very attentive. The food is wonderful and the kitchen staff works fairly fast. You will definitely enjoy spending the day at the BMA and enjoying a great meal, too.

We have enjoyed Gertrude’s a lot in over the years, but the past two times, the food and service have been sadly disappointing. At Easter brunch the crab omelet has plenty of crab (loved that), but the Mornay sauce was watery and had a gray color to it. My table mate said his Mediterranean omelet was OK. Drinks were fine…service OK. We had to look for our server to ask for a cup of coffee at the end. Had he approached us sooner we would have ordered another round of drinks. We will probably not be back any time soon.

Service at Gertrudes was poor. We ordered six oysters. Five were large and flavorful. One was tiny and flavorless. I ordered cream of crab soup. It was served at room temperature. I sent it back. My companion's order arrived later. It was also room temperature. I ordered Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. I received a garden salad. When the correct salad was served, the shrimp were cold. The coffee came at room temperature. My companion had to send back her coffee twice for reheating. The wait staff were awkward and, at times, resentful, apparently believing that we should accept whatever was put in front of us without complaint. Gertrudes aspires to be an exceptional restaurant but is not delivering.

My wife and I celebrated our 50th anniversary at Gertrude's yesterday evening. The service was awesome and attentive to the importance of the occasion. The food, as always, was wonderful.
