   This restaurant is no longer in open table but let us sit and dine anyway. A very good restaurant. Open table needs to remove them off their list so no major disappointment occurs.

   Gazen has been a reliable go to restaurant when you have a taste for Japanese izakaya food. all the dishes we ordered were great, including the agedashi mocha, shiso wrapped ahi, hamachi takuan sushi roll, and the chicken over rice. Happy hour drink prices were a plus (if you eat before 6:30).

   The ambiance is very pleasant. Reasonable prices. Fresh tofu was unique and very good. The mochi with cheese appetizer was unusual and surprisingly good. Pitcher keeps beer cold without watering it down...excellent! Overall very nice experience.

   we liked the secluded seat that we had this time! it was cozy and my daughter (8) also liked it. food was very good as always.

   Gazen is one of my favorite restaurants in Hawaii. The chef really knows what he's doing. The dishes are excellent and incorporate the best creativity in texture, taste, and temperature. Simply brilliant.

   My favorite restaurant in Honolulu. Nice get away from the hubbub of Waikiki, but a short taxi ride. Extraordinary selection of delectable treats. Dont miss the tofu sampler and the 5 type of sashimi spread. Be ready to stretch and try some things and you wont be sorry.

   The food was great but I think the staff forgot about us. We had to wait a long time between dishes and had to remind them many times about our orders. They had communication problems between staff. They charged us twice so we had to explain that we paid already.

    I've liked Gazen in the past and still like it, which is why we returned there on Thursday to welcome a new member of our ohana. We enjoyed the happy hour specials and especially the tofu sampler, the beef tataki, the gobo, the Jpn omelette, and several other things. Service this time was exceptionally good.
