We enjoyed dining on the three-sided covered patio surrounding the courtyard . The setting was enhanced by the sound of the excellent lounge pianist playing songs with Hawaiian themes.
The food was prepared with vegetables from their gardens and the vegetarian
Linguine was lightly flavored as to allow the taste of the vegetables to be the primary enjoyment. The preparation of the fresh fish was outstanding. Accompanying our meals were their " original" Mai Tais. it was the best Mai-Tai I had in a week of trying other "original" Mai-Tais !
We came here for our ten year wedding anniversary and could not have asked for a more perfect experience. The ambiance and food was fabulous, and the service was impeccable. Every trip to Kaua’i will necessitate a visit to Gaylord’s.
This review includes the entire grounds. Did the rum tasting ... discovered I like rum. Walked the grounds and got serendipitously lost. The dining was relaxed and we never felt rushed. While the menu is not large I still had trouble deciding. The spring rolls were great, the crab and artichoke dip was a cut above. Dinner was perfect.
Truly the best food and ambiance we have experienced in our many years of coming to our second home of Kauai
Beautiful in every way. Loved the local culture performance.
Delicious brunch, very wide variety of hot and cold foods
All of our food was cold except the freshly made omelet. We paid over $100 for breakfast for 3. We didn’t get a second plate from the buffet because the food was cold. Nice variety of food and great fruit and pastries, but left disappointed.
Excellent ambiance and food. Enjoyed the experience and the food was very good.
Best mai tai and lava flow made with Koloa Rum! Salads were fresh. Scallops and fresh catch were delicious. Nice live music to go with dinner. Will definitely go back for more.
Been eating at Gaylord'd for over 15 years. Great food, great drinks and wonderful bar area. Only drawback is service gets 'taxed" and spread thin on Luau Nights, which happened this visit. But no regrets, will be coming back again (just will avoid "certain nights"). But did their Luau back in 2013 when family visited and it is great).
Food was delicious. Always a great place in a beautiful setting. Our waitress was not the friendliest which was disappointing but the gentleman who brought us our water and bread was very nice and delightful. We try to visit this place each time we travel to Kauai and hopefully can try it again the next visit.
We'd read about Gaylord's in a NY Times article. It was a perfect stop after leaving the airport before driving up to Princeville. The menu is not long, yet there were several things that sounded good. I settled on the Cobb Salad. The vegetables were fresh and delicious, and it included all the other ingredients that one expects in that dish. My daughter had the fish tacos with fried ahi. I'd never had ahi prepared that way, but the bite I had was delicious. I also got a couple of bites of my husband's banana coconut pie, and it was wonderful, with a creamy filling and toasted coconut.
The experience isn't just about the food. The tables are in a covered outdoor garden setting - a perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. We are hoping to have time for another stop on our way back to the airport! Reservations are recommended, as it's not a big place.
And if you have time, take the train ride around the property to see all the fruits being grown, and to stop and feed the pigs. Or shop in the historic house, or try the rum tasting!
Enjoyed the ambiance! Wanted to see the plantation during our visit to Kauai. It was quiet since we arrived near closing time and the luau was later that evening.
Overall, a good experience. The refills on drinks was a little slow. The entertainment was excellent.
Food was very good. Atmosphere was nice. Service was excellent.
Dinner was delicious. Service was a little slow but our waiter was very helpful. Will definitely come back again.
Father’s Day brunch....outstanding on every level !
Went for brunch on Father’s Day. The choices were many and all delicious. The service was great, the shops have some unique items. We really enjoyed our time there and will go back again.
Father’s Day brunch
Service was terrible, food was disappointing. Use to love this restaurant. Don't know what happened. Won't be going there any more.
Everything was excellent! We love going there, it feels like home!
Lovely setting, food was great. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. Great spot for that!
Everything we were hoping it would be. You really feel like you’re in Hawaii going to this restaurant, opposed to some of the busier & more commercial restaurants on the island. Much more relaxing.
Been coming here for years, and it never disappoints! Delicious food! We all loved our meals and highly recommend the cioppino, filet, and monchung special. Our waiter was fantastic and the outdoor environment beautiful!
Food and ambiance were awesome. Our Sunday brunch was excellent with a wide selection of dishes. The Spinach Florentine was cooked perfectly. I wish I wouldn’t have filled myself up on the entrees as I really wanted to try the omelette selections.
We had Sunday brunch. The choices were varied but the overall food experience was average. The setting is relaxed and pretty with live background entertainment. The atmosphere is very pleasant as long as you don't have fussy toddlers nearby. We've had brunch there several times and fussy kids seem to be standard.
Beautiful setting, excellent food. Great place for a relaxing lunch.
Very lovely setting
Second rate place that caters to busloads of cruise ship customers. The reviews suggest that they were happy. We were not. The food was mediocre at best.
The food was great. Service this time was just good. Not great. We are very picky.
Kilohana plantation is wonderful. We recommend going early, putting your name on the rum tasting list for a convenient time and enjoying the tour!
We had been here 15 years ago and wanted to try Gaylord's again. It has changed little, which is a very good thing. Food was excellent, service even better and they still have the banana cream pie with coconut crust!
Food was good but not awesome. View was nice but not quite what was expected. Server was odd. He seemed to only want to do things on his schedule and his way. When we asked if we could get a lava flow with mango instead of strawberry he acted like that was impossible even though he had just told us they picked the mango fresh that morning. When I pushed to have him ask if they could do the drink he finally did and of course they did it. Similar experience asking for free dessert which we got from Yelp. He wasn’t ready to talk with us about dessert. He just really didn’t seem interested in waiting on us. Disappointing for our last meal before leaving the island.
We enjoy everything about Gaylord's and visit at least once every trip to Kauai
Gaylord’s is a great spot for any occasion! I was there on business but you could have a wedding reception there if you wanted too. The staff is great and the food and drinks are even better. The outdoor dining and scenery really make it special. The only reason I gave it 4 stars overall was due to the price of some menu items. Just a little pricy for my taste but it really is an experience you need to do when visiting Kauai!
Love this place! Gaylord’s is perfect for a special occasion or date. My husband enjoyed the Ahi & I ate the roasted chicken, ending the dinner with a delicious coconut banana cream pie. I recommend Gaylord’s for beautiful old plantation ambience, good food & service.
It was the best Ahi tuna steak I've ever eaten!
Had an early dinner, at times it can be busy but was acceptable on this Tuesday evening. Nice, but not overpowering music from the bar area.
Delicious food. Good service. Beautiful surroundings
Sashimi, Spring rolls great - Server nice - music and ambiance terrific- short ribs dry bland sauce , pasta oily , banana cream pie usually terrific - (I got a leftover scrap of a piece)
PIANO in Lounge Tuesday and Friday
Hank Curtis - classy act - well worth the whole evening- if you’re on Kauai- Don’t Miss Him !!!!🌺🌴🎹
