The menu––created by Gatlin, Gatlin BBQ Executive Chef Michelle Wallace, and Fins & Feathers’ Chef de Cuisine Darius King––is a mouthwatering testament to traditional Southern fare’s modern inclusiveness. The expansive list of starters is sure to set the tone with Chargrilled Oysters to New Orleans BBQ Shrimp or try the Not My Momma’s Biscuits with seasonal jams. The Clucker is Gatlin’s spin on a charcuterie board. Their menu also includes head-turning soups and salads, showstopping Sandos, and an extensive list of entrees from fried chicken to catfish, all promising generous plates of nostalgia. We had grilled oysters, fried catfish & oysters with sides of Cole slaw and creamed corn. Thanks to toppings, the grilled oysters were a bit dry. The fried catfish were overly coated to my taste. The fried oysters were quite good as was cole slaw. I stopped eating the creamed corn, advertised as house speciality, after one bite. Service was a bit slow, but very good overall. The above comments are likely driven by personal taste rather than absolute quality, as the restaurant was well patronized with people who were obviously enjoying themselves.

The customer service and food was really good. I will be returning for the biscuits with all of the jams, chicken, fish and you absolutely can’t go wrong with any of the sides. Happy Eating 😊.

My second time here and the food was even better than what I remembered. Everything was clean, everyone was nice, and the people I brought were loving it. Unfortunately, I just wish they could do something about the A/C. I was sweating and I wasn't eating anything spicy. I'll still go back, but I'll request a table ALL THE WAY in the back. 🙂

Every bite was superb. Best seafood in Houston. Make sure to get an order of the freshly made biscuits. They are amazing.

First time visiting and the food was 10/10. I heard about this restaurant on TikTok. I made a reservation on OpenTable which I highly recommend. The establishment and the parking lot was very small. No valet parking. I'd suggest carpooling to prevent parking issues. At the front of the restaurant there is plenty of natural light and towards the back there is warm lighting. The decor gave an old diner feel. They had a great R&B playlist which featured Mary J. Blige, The Isley Brothers, and Frankie Beverly and Maze. As soon as we sat down our waiter came and their name was Owen. They were friendly and made great menu suggestions. My friend had a pineapple mimosa and enjoyed it. I had the brunch catfish and fried chicken with one side. I chose the red beans and rice. The fish and chicken were fried to perfection and were flavorful. The red beans and rice were decent. My friend had the brunch blackened catfish with macaroni and cheese. She enjoyed her dish. It was hard to get a refill on water. Our waiter received more tables and no one was walking around filling up glasses as a courtesy. Besides the parking that would be my only complaint. The price of the food was reasonable. I will definitely return to this restaurant again and recommend to others.
