We have been going to the CIA for many years and now to the Gatehouse for a few years. The students were very friendly, informative, great servers. We loved the 4 course luncheon with the food and wine. It always delicious. We will continue to visit the CIA in the future.

Everything was outstanding. Warm friendly staff, amazing food and a wonderful food/wine pairing. I suggest to anyone to try that, they know what they are doing. Will be back

Server mumbles when he speaks. It was very hard to understand anything he said. Do not get the risotto. Lasagna was served cold in the middle. The wine pairing was good selections and complimented the food. I expected more quality for the price.

We always enjoy coming to CIA. This visit was a bit different as we arrived about 10 minutes in front of the reservation time and the hostess wouldn’t seat us. Our server was an earnest guy, but lacked confidence. Overall, a good but not great experience.

There are a LOT of amazing places to eat in the Napa Valley. But this is special: you're dining at a place where current CIA students are learning to cook in/work in a restaurant - and a portion of what you pay goes to support student scholarships. Compared to other places you might eat in the valley, the pricing here is EXCELLENT for all that you get. The students do a GREAT job! We enjoyed the full experience: Four courses, each paired (PERFECTLY! The best I've ever experienced) with a different wine. Each course is the right size, as is the pour, and the timing and execution of bringing out each course is spot-on. The staff is friendly, they explain every dish brought out to you, and are helpful in making recommendations. Some of the courses were a little salty for my liking, but I rarely salt my food - and I did eat everything! This is a small, lovely venue (you're NOT in the "castle," which is just fine), and depending upon where you sit you can look through the large windows and watch the young chefs at work in the kitchen. I work in education and I'm all about supporting students and giving them opportunities to put into practice what they're learning. We will definitely go again, and recommend it to others.
