Great whiskey drinks and options. Food was great, but overpriced. Enjoyed the atmosphere, but space is a little tight for the amount of tables they seat.

Four of us out for going away celebration for coworker. Two of us ordered rib eye medium rare. Were served a filet and a well done ribeye. When we got the correct steaks, they weren’t very good and did not seem to be of the quality of previous meals here. About $400 later we were not even comped a desert.

The food was great...however, the bourbon selection was weak at best. After reviewing the lengthy bourbon list, selections were made with anticipation of enjoying some tasty brown water. The anticipation was dashed when the server returned and informed us that they were out of the bourbon. That was okay, for the list was long and replacements were selected...to find that those bourbons were out as well. The server mentioned that they had Blanton’s...wow, Blanton’s sounds great...ordered it...but again the server returned stating they were out of that too. The server started to mention other bourbons to consider...but mentioned a few basic everyday bourbons they were out of...Woodford Reserve being one. ReallY...out of Woodford? We jokingly offered to run to the local grocery store to get a bottle, for It had turned comical. The Gamlin Whiskey House, a restaurant recommended for their bourbon/whiskey selection, didn’t have much bourbon / whiskey. I think they should change the name to Gamlin House. On a positive note, the food was great...shrimp and grits, wedge salad, strip steak, the barramundi special, brussel sprouts...all were top notch. Check it out, but call ahead to make sure they can support their name...meaning that they have “whiskey” (bourbon).

I had been wanting to try Gamlin Whiskey House for some time. When the opportunity came up to meet a friend for brunch in the CWE, I made a reservation at Gamlin. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. Despite having a reservation, we still had to wait several minutes for a table................and over 1/2 the restaurant was empty. I am guessing they were not adequately staffed. While the menu had several interesting options, I found that most of the brunch choices were pretty pricey. I ordered a Bloody Mary, spicy, which came without a salted nor spiced rim, no garnish, and there was no spice that I could detect except maybe some pepper. My friend and I ordered the Surf & Turf omelet and the chicken and waffles and split both entrees. The waitress told us she would split them for us, but she didn't. Nor did she bring an extra plate. But no big deal. The omelet was unique in its combination of chorizo, mushrooms and shrimp, but it was greasy and hard like a diner omelet. The chicken and waffles were made with frozen, breaded chicken cutlets that had freezer burn. The waffle also may have been frozen as it did not taste fresh but stale. The waitress never came back to ask us how everything was or if we wanted another drink, or I would have mentioned these things to her. Overall, we were quite disappointed.

Wow! What a fantastic find in St. Louis. We went for brunch on Saturday of Mardi Gras weekend and the place wasn’t crowded at all! Food was to die for, and great service and ambience too. You can’t beat $5 mimosas!

we were seated, and not given water or attended to for quite a while, until a server finally wandered over and asked if we had been helped. It was not busy at all, so a little confusing and off-putting. Also, server was not very attentive --- didn't swing by to check on us after food arrived. I had finished my cocktail, and would have ordered another one, but he didn't check on us until after we had finished meal. I am new to St. Louis, and would try this place again, but after this experience, I will definitely be trying a different restaurant or two before returning.

I would definitely recommend anyone for the drinks at this establishment. As far as the food goes for the price that you pay it’s not worth it. The food was bland with no taste what so ever.
