Need to be available year round! :)
We’ve come to several NYE meals here and went again this year with their prix fixe menu. It was disappointing compared to previous years. Negatives include the turtle soup (too salty to even finish), the duck entree (salty too), running out of entrees (veal), and there was nothing special done to celebrate New Year’s (hats, champagne, etc) as in years past. Highlights include the oyster appetizer, the salad, the desserts, and the service. We may look for other options next year.
We ate there on NYE, so it wasn't the regular menu. Everything was great! I had a crepe with beef daube, a winter salad, and lamb shank with foie gras and lentil sauce. Everything was fresh and well done. Servings were generous. The server was very friendly, answered all of our questions fully. The decor is quite casual. There's an indigo ceiling and Jazz Fest posters on the wall.
Wonderful experience. Amazing food!! On the must do list when we come back to New Orleans.
I’m from Nola, and Gabrielle was hands down one of the best meals I’ve had at a restaurant.
Food is as good as any restaurant in city. Would go all the time if in a better neighborhood. Not comfortable with no security. Atmosphere is lacking.
It was a nice Cos
They have the most wonderful cocktails and a fabulous menu.
Gabrielle was great as always. We had the whole gulf fish and the fish with the crab cakes, both really good. My wife is still raving about the lemon chest pie.
Food was great. Service could have been much better; expect higher quality, more attentive servers here. Would definitely visit again.
Wonderful romantic evening meal with my sweetheart. The liver pate is divine! Pork chop did not disappoint and neither did the bbq shrimp appetizer. Do not miss a chance to dine at Gabrielle!
Wonderful staff! Wonderful food!!!
Excellent food and service! The food is perfectly prepared.
Delicious food and excellent service! Glad to support local restaurants.
Are dinner during extended Coolinary special in November. The food was fantastic as always! Ambiance was great with years of JazzFest posters on the wall. Please support Gabrielle’s and eat dinner at a local favorite.
Nice portion size and flavor for your Cajun food. We had crab soup, blackened drum over a real crabcake and creme brulee and apple bread pudding for dessert, all on the Culinary menu........with a bottle of brut prosecco. A very nice meal.
Tip: Take a Lyft and don't stress about the parking.
Gabriele's is true New Orleans Creole with outstanding service. Best food in the city!
The service and food was phenomenal. It has been officially added to the list of restaurants to return to on my next visit. The value was unbelievable as well.
The service was outstanding, and we were able to sit outside which is a big plus these days. I thought the cocktail was excellent, and the portions of food were generous. I felt however that the food was probably cooked earlier in the day and reheated. the fish was really tough and the vegetables had a nice sear on them but were cold when they arrived
I have great memories of great dinners at Gabrielle before it closed after Katrina. This was my first chance to return. I was not disappointed. All the food was excellent and the barbequed shrimp was as good as I remembered.
Everything was wonderful! The duck is delicious!!!
Excellent dinner, would highly recommend! Everything was delicious. Our party of six shared all of the entrees, my favorite was the duck but I would order any of the them again.
Chef Sonnier's duck is the best! Fantastic food in a classic New Orleans environment.
Always spectacular. Going to Gabrielle is like dining at your favorite neighborhood restaurant if your favorite neighborhood restaurant has a 5 star chef with 5 star service. It is always so comfortable to be there and the food is always outstanding. It is a favorite of myself and my friends. We have even enjoyed takeout using their safe window pick up during these times. But it was so nice to be able to go and sit inside again! Everything from apps to dessert- you can't go wrong. And don't forget a specialty cocktail too!
Fantastic meal! Great environment for a date night!
This restaurant is fabulous. Everything we ate was wonderful. I had a scallop appetizer, and the special which was a filet with a mushroom and brie sauce. To die for. And my husband had the duck which is their long time menu regular. It's worth the trip just for the duck.
Good food, so happy they’re reopened dining room for customer after the pandemic. First time visiting the restaurant but very impressed with the food and the service
We were delighted when Gabrielle announced a return to in-house dining! The Autumn Salad was a delicious taste of fall, with lovely spiced pecans balancing the bite of crisp green apples and a marvelous vinaigrette dressing. My husband raved over the Scallop appetizer and his favorite entree -- the Slow-Roasted Duck. My Eggplant Pirogue entree was equally rave-worthy -- crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked eggplant inside. The desserts were all beautiful ... we should have taken some home for later!
Gabrielle is one of the best restaurants in New Orleans, in my opinion. A casual atmosphere with five star service and food.
This little gem is in what appears to be a rougher neighborhood, but as soon as you walk in you forget all that. White tablecloths, fresh flowers, excellent food, good ambiance. Our server Nelson was terrific!! Too bad the virus is scaring folks away, they missed a good meal!
I loved it.
Very disappointed that on A Saturday for lunch there was no veal.
Someone surely could have gone to Dorignacs or Zuppardos who has good meat department and purchased veal that morning.
Especially with limited menu of 6 food selections.
Plan ahead
Have the BBQ shrimp pie. It's delicious! If you are lucky Victor will be your waiter. He is a warm, knowledgeable host leading you through the meal.
Food was awesome as well as the service. The chef was very nice guy that took time to tell us about the city. Definitely recommend.
Gabrielle's is a true NOLA gem. The food and cocktail service is outstanding!
Always a special occasion at Gabrielle! The best food, amazing Chef, always FUN, get the duck, sweetbreads, Bbq shrimp pie and peppermint patty... Go, never disappoints!
Catherine, our server was excellent. Apps took a long time to get out but it was valentine's day so they were swamped. She comped a round of drinks for our trouble.
Food was amazing!
We were very excited to try Gabrielle as we had heard so many great things about the restaurant. We went for Valentine’s Day, and they had a pre-set menu. It was honestly one of the worst fine dining experiences we’ve ever had. All of the dishes we ordered from appetizers to desserts all ranged from okay to terrible. Gumbo was okay, crawfish enchiladas and the duck main dish were both cold and bleh, lamb was inedibly raw when it should have been cook med/med rare. Service from our main waitress was not good- she did not ask once how our food was, and was not friendly or even mildly pleasant. The other servers and workers were nice, just not our waitress. Also not the most romantic of settings. We knew another group who came in that night and they had the same poor experience, as did the table sitting next to us. Maybe it was an off night?? But still, there’s no excuse for how bad everything was. Drinks were good.. I’ll give them that. But other than that, it was terrible. Really disappointed as we were really looking forward to trying it.
We are so happy to have Gabrielle's nearby again to Bayou St John. They are a wonderful Restaurant family. The inspired Cajun cuisine is consistently delicious and now Friday lunch too!!!
AWESOME JOB LADIES‼️‼️‼️‼️
