Gabrielle Restaurant New Orleans
Wonder meal, great service and fun time with good friends!
We loved our authentic experience at Gabrielle! The service, food, ambience, and quality were all great. We went for Coolinary and will definitely be back with out of town guests. We had no trouble finding street parking. This place is an adorable neighborhood gem!
Small restaurant with a big bang. Consistently good food and service. You really can't go wrong.
We choose Gabrielle because of the Coolinary menu. All 6 of us were very happy with what we chose. Coolinary prices made us try the restaurant, but we will be back.
The restaurant was lively and welcoming. We had 4 people and were able to try 3 different appetizers, 4 entrees and 2 desserts. They were all delicious! We also tried a few cocktails and 2 different wines. The wine list had a good spread of prices. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. I would return and recommend it to friends!
Food was amazing. Service was great as well. Would definitely suggest this place for a special occasion.
The food is outstanding, we wanted every single thing on the menu and we left wishing we could return immediately to try all of the things we didn't get to try this time. One of the best restaurants in the city!
We went to Gabrielle’s to celebrate our Anniversary. Our table was decorated with confetti, a nice touch. We ate delicious soft shell crabs and enjoyed the sides that came with the entree. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived at 5:45pm,for our reservation, but soon got busy. The noise level was so high that I took my hearing aids out,
during dinner. For that reason alone we probably won’t be back soon.
Gave this place a try for COOLinary and generally enjoyed it. Service was a little slow - from getting seated to ordering drinks but can be forgiven since it's a slow month and I doubt they're at full capacity. I had the duck blind scallop which was really good although I didn't care for the grits. My girlfriend had the crimson tide watermelon salad which was quite pleasant and the fried duck/chicken wings contrasted nicely with the cool watermelon. I had the nova scotia jambalaya for my main entree which was again pretty good - the lobster and shrimp were great but there was a certain spice to it I couldn't place and didn't care for. Also not sure why okra was in it. My girlfriend had the fish and the crabcake/sauce it came with were phenomenal. Finally for dessert I had the shoot for the moon pie and bourbon milk punch but it looks like they ran out of moon pies and it came with a mediocre chocolate chip cookie. The punch was pretty good and hid the bourbon well. My girlfriend did the apple upside down bread pudding and that was phenomenal - a really great take on a classic american dessert. We had the JeniSu and Marie's Favorite cocktails which were very good. Overall solid location and a lot of the main menu looks great - definitely some gems and even the lesser dishes are still pretty good. I'll be sure to visit again (and hopefully when someone else picks up the bill).
We wanted to try a restaurant we had not eaten at before. Took advantage of Coolinary week. The wait staff and Chef/Owner were friendly and accommodating!! Food was delicious and will definitely go back!!!
Exceptional service. The duck is amazing and the crab cake was too!
Our waiter was terrible. Our drinks sat at the bar. One time we just went and picked them up ourselves. He forget to bring one of the salads, which he then took forever to bring. He then brought the wrong entree to one in our party and blamed them that they said they said the wrong thing.
By the time they brought the right entree everyone else had finished their meal. Instead of apologizing for ALL the issues, he blamed everyone else. The food was good but the service ruined my friends birthday celebration. I don’t have a reason to rerun. Awful!
Great meal. Will be back
I am very sad to say that that this meal was terrible. We used to frequent Gabrielle when it was on Esplanade. Even had one of our first dates there. But we will never go back after the meal we had last night. It started off fine with the house pate, which was very good. However, it went down from there. I had the grilled shrimp salad, and the shrimp were not fresh— the first one tasted off, and I had a second hoping it was a fluke, and that one was mealy. I didn’t eat any more. Someone at table next to us also ordered that salad, and I noticed she didn’t eat it either. I had the duck entree, and the skin was not just crispy, it was burned and the meat was dried out. By appearance alone, my husband was surprised they would have even served it to me. His meal was fine but not great. It certainly didn’t make up for the poor quality of the rest of the food. We skipped desert because the meal was so disappointing. The only truly positive thing I can say is that we had excellent service, but that doesn’t make up for bad food.
Gabrielle is one of my favorite restaurants and it never disappoints! On this visit, I had the Coolinary menu and it was fantastic!
Left with two rubber duckies
I enjoyed Gabrielle when it was on Esplanade and was hoping to relive those days. This time, though, the duck was nothing to write home about. It was a little dry and not particularly flavorful. The plates the restaurant uses to serve their entrees are small and awkward so that the food has to be shoved on with little attention to presentation. The cocktails were ok, but nothing special. The service was attentive and helpful. In short, this experience did not live up to my memory of Gabrielle from preK.
WOW! WOW! WOW! The food was delicious and the service, our waiter Rick, was fantastic! We will definitely be back!
Steak was not steak. I did not even bring it home for my dog. Server was pompous and slow.
Great food, wonderful ambiance, and impeccable service. I will be back again...and again!
The Duck Fest tasting menu was nothing less than superb--imaginative dishes, exceptionally prepared.
And the regular entree was no less.
Great service made for an outstanding, thoroughly pleasurable evening.
We'll be back!
Superb menu choices. Great staff. Wonderful vibe. Go eat at this place.
Gabrielle is a classic favorite.
The restaurant serves classic fare with a twist. Pate and crab were delicious. Fish was wonderful but a tad salty...otherwise service is beyond par and so is the hospitality. Strongly recommend this lovely neighborhood gem.
I had the duck bacon wrapped scallops with tomato compote. I don’t think it is on the regular menu, but it is on the menu for duck month. I’m thinking about going back to have it again before it’s gone. Everything we had was wonderful, and the staff was attentive and professional but not intrusive. Highly recommend!
