Originally located on Esplanade Avenue, Gabrielle Restaurant re-opened its doors on Orleans Avenue in September 2017 after a twelve year Hurricane Katrina hiatus. This small family run business is co-owned by Chefs Mary and Greg Sonnier. Award winning Chef Greg serves his take on Cajun food with New Orleans flair. I have been wanting to go here for months and finally just booked it! We were sat at a slanted table and my friend has to roll up the bread bag and put it under her plate so the sauce wouldn’t run off. The Duck fries were so greasy, could not eat them and I’ve had them before where the fries were cut bigger so they weren’t so greasy. When the waitress picked them up, almost untouched, I told her they were not what I thought they’d be and she was like okay. My friend had the pork chop and she said it was so overcooked she could barely cut it. Also, her potatoes came out after her pork chop was brought to the table and they too were so greasy she couldn’t eat them. Again, the waitress picked up the plate with the nearly untouched pork chop and potatoes and never asked if everything was okay or if anything was wrong. We left hungry and paid a huge bill. Probably one of the worst meals I’ve had in NOLA.

our food was teriffic. I had the duck, and my wife had the filet. Both were really top of the line in terms of quality and preparation. Really great, and nice setting outside the City

The atmosphere is pure New Orleans when you walk in. You get a warm greeting from the maitre’d and feel the energy in the place. From cocktails to gumbo to main courses to desserts, the service was attentive and well-paced. I had the special triple tail broiled fish with a crab cake which was excellent. All in all, a delightful New Orleans restaurant experience!

The food was incredible! BBQ shrimp pie, smoked gumbo, warm goat cheese salad, filet, and the seafood pastalaya. Only regret was not leaving room for dessert. Service was excellent - everyone was really friendly.

Very nice atmosphere, courteous service. Food was good, nothing to tell home about. The seafood gumbo was really mediocre. What really put me off was the veal chop, good but an overkill at 84$.

Bbq shrimp pie was as good as advertised. The grilled app was not as good, as the andoullie was dry and mealy texture. Boudin eggroll might have been the best bite all night. We had the fish, the steak, nova scotia pastalaya, Pastalaya was my favorite of the 3. Crab cake under the fish was a strange texture. The bernaise sauce drowned the steak and I wish i had ordered it on the side. Speatzel was crying for salt . Dessert was Peppermint patty and pecan pie. Both desserts were yummy. Everyone enjoyed the experience however. The temperature in the resturaunt was way too hot. The 10 top of 40 something intoxicated "Swiftys" in sequence were really really loud for the small space.

By far and bar none the best dining experience and meal my wife and I have every had. I would have paid double. Will travel back to the NOLA area just to go back to Gabrielle. Thank you for a wonderful time

Excellent food. Been here multiple times and never disappoints. Perfect for dates or small gatherings. The staff has worked here forever, very much feels like a small family restaurant. And the food is one of the best in all of New Orleans.

Starting with Server, B, he was energetic, knowledgable, patient, and overall a cool guy. The food was seasoned perfectly, flavors were vibrant and balanced. Loved looking at the framed Jazz Festival posters. Great ambiance. I will come back again soon

The food is the best in New Orleans! Service impeccable. Loved the duck and gumbo The roux was perfectly made. Nelson was our waiter and was wonderful, mot intrusive. Met the Chef Graig who was so gracious.

My friend and I went for the Coolinary tasting menu and it was 100% worth every penny. The food was amazing and had really good portion sizes, the gumbo and Jambalaya were seasoned perfectly. The service was great. The drinks were delicious. Absolutely loved their spicy margarita type drink. 10/10 experience would love to go back again.

Going back to before Hurricane Katrina, this restaurant has been one of my favorites. Everything tonight was wonderful. The only things I would recommend would be that the entree selection not be so heavy on meat. There was a fish selection that we chose, only because it seemed to be the only thing that wasn’t meat. Otherwise, and as always, I would highly recommend Gabrielle!

We had been to Gabrielle’s about a year ago, and while we felt the ambience was lacking, the food was very good. This visit I had the duck, as I had before, which was recommended over the pork chop by our server. The duck was very salty, and really tasted more like chicken…it was just ok. My wife had the fish of the day with a crab cake that accompanied it and thought it was pretty good. The Oysters Gabie appetizer was underwhelming. We will not return
