Everything was good except my duck breast was well done not medium rare. The chef, plating person, and server should have noticed but they didn’t. It turned an otherwise positive experience negative. I do not recommend going there.
We had a delicious meal at the Gabrielle. We appreciated the chef making a special meal for my vegan date. The service was excellent too. We’ll be back!
Although we arrived at the end of the lunch time, we were promptly greeted and seated. Our server Kamari took excellent care of us. Our Gabrielle Burgers were served quickly and were delicious. A great way to end our 27th Annual January 21 Day Consecration.
Atmosphere was great, service was excellent and food was wonderful
Each staff member who assisted us made our experience pleasurable & fun! our meal was delicious and plentiful! I have never had a negative experience at The Bennett!
Ambience great. Service and food were very good. Definitely would dine there again.
This is a fine, elegant restaurant. The food was excellent. Very nice menu and I look forward to going back soon. The hotel is very welcoming from the moment you arrive!!
! I will be Short! The duck breast that i ordered was raw , smelled so bad and when a told the waiter about that, he didn’t say even a word back ! The dessert that I ordered after I was waiting he came and said they don’t have it! I was trying to say something the waiter all the time turned and left like I wasn’t there ! For the ambiance I recommend for the food especially what I tested big No! Sorry that the true! If the waiter offers me to switch or at least cook one more time the meat I will be thinking twice until posting this review!
considering it was restaurant week i would have expected something better. soup and fries were coldish . burger average and flounder tasted like it had previously been frozen.
Everything was wonderful- we were totally surprised. Hotel food generally is risky. We’re local and know our way around the food here. Our experience at G. was fun and very enjoyable.
Restaurant week was a sham. The items on the menu were less expensive to order ala carte than the prices for restaurant week. We were told that all had to order from the restaurant week menu or no-one could. It was mid day and the she crab soup was not ready. This is my second trip there, can not recommend.
Great place for old world elegance. Food was wonderful. Roasted marrow was perfect. Scallops were summer of the best I've ever had. Joe was a great server, and nice to be taken care of on our anniversary!
The best thing about Gabrielle was Cody, the server. He was engaging, attentive and served flawlessly. The meal, however, was wildly underwhelming. The crab cake was incredibly salty, couldn't eat it past one bite. The salad lettuce was wilted. The ambiance doesn't know what it wants to be. But what it is not, is competition for the Charleston Grill. Won't go back.
Not one single staff person was masked, front desk, bar, and dining room. Waited 20 minutes for a host to be “found” so we could be seated! The entire experience was completely unacceptable. We will not return.
As foodies, when we taste cohesive flavors we haven't tasted before, we are impressed. My wife and I, along with my son in from Rome, truly enjoyed this gourmet experience. The ambience was clean and pleasant. My son particularly enjoyed the visual of the elegant washtub full of wines and the crystal fishnet diffusing the ceiling light fixture. The service was precise. We tried the apple salad, the short rib, the shrimp and grits, the scallops and the chocolate truffle buried in chocolate sand. All were excellent. There is a stand along champagne bar for those who wish. On a lighter note, one will need a compass to avoid getting lost finding the restrooms.
Wonderful New Year dinner!
Limited menu but everyone really enjoyed their lunch. I had muscles and fries and they were delicious! Good Bloody Marys
When I make a reservation at a beautiful hotel and restaurant and am put in a conference room upstairs for my party of 6 without telling me that’s where I’d be when the reservations are made it was very disappointing. The food was just fair as well. I felt like I was in a business conference instead of a beautiful romantic restaurant on New Years Eve. I am telling you this so you have true feedback for future improvements not to make anyone feel bad or get in trouble. As a business owner myself I want to hear about peoples experiences at my business so I can improve my offerings etc.
New Year's Eve dinner was outstanding! We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers who loved every course as well!! The foie gras was sublime and the steak tartare the best I've tasted. The mains were exquisite tho I would have liked some green veg sides as well. The desserts were beautiful and tasty. Our server JD was friendly and the ambience was perfect for us to enjoy conversation easily. The best NYE in a long time!
Wonderful evening, elegant fine dining. Lovely decor in the hotel and charming ambiance in the restaurant. The staff were delightful - friendly and efficient. JD was our waiter - he was marvelous. Food was excellent. We found the charred Brussels sprouts with cider gastrique somewhat sweet for our taste - everything else we found to be delicious. We’ll be back!
1pm reservation for Granddaughter 18th birthday which I notified through open table in advance.
Restaurant was not busy. We’ve eaten there several times in past & loved experience. Our server was excellent, but we waited 45 min to be served anything. There was rowdy family table nearby which I realize restaurant could not control. When we got our check we were told systems were down & they would need to write our credit card on piece of paper & input later along with gratuity. That made us feel uneasy, but, no other option offered. I had really built this up to our granddaughter & was embarrassed.
We too have a restaurant & realize times are tough now. There may have been issues with kitchen staff or some other unknown issue.
I felt bad for our sever.
Gabrielle was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had here in Charleston. I consider myself a local at this point, having lived in Mount Pleasant for the last six years. It’s no secret Charleston is full of incredible places to eat, but Gabrielle tucked away in Hotel Bennett is a true gem. The dining was a true experience. We arrive a tad early for our dinner reservation. They were running a little behind so offered to buy our first round of drinks - how thoughtful! Cody, our server was such a delight! Truly so knowledgeable about the wine list and the menu. Dwayne the host was also very knowledgeable about the wine list. It was truly refreshing to see the staff really enjoy their job - you could tell and it set such a wonderful tone for our meal. The PEI mussels were the best I’ve ever had. Same goes with the bone in short rib and truffle risotto. Everything was top notch and worth the price tag. The environment was also just so beautiful; the building is a true work of art. We ended the meal with the best tasting espresso martinis we’ve ever had. My friend truly enjoyed her birthday dinner celebration so mission accomplished!
Outstanding! Food was amazing! There were a number of menu items which were unavailable but that is pretty normal these days! I highly recommend Gabrielle next time you’re in Charleston!
Cody was an amazing server!! The food was absolutely amazing. It was a great dinner to celebrate our anniversary in Charleston for the first time! We can’t wait to come back
Food was incredible , service was excellent and the atmosphere was beautiful.
The food was completely off. The chef might have been out - we dined on the 26 December. Bone marrow was served cold, so were oysters Rockefeller. The crab in the she crab soup was cold as well. The corn bread was not baked through and had a taste of bad butter. Very disappointed - everyone said it was a nice restaurant. Turned out not to be the case on our visit.
On a beautiful and warm Charleston night, we sat outside under the stars and had a wonderful dinner of sea scallops and truffle risotto.
A lovely evening.
Quiet and nice at the hotel the day after Christmas made our dinner more enjoyable than at other venues. Would recommend.
We went for Christmas dinner. It was a prefix menu, but was lovely. Tyler, our server was great. The butternut squash soup is so good. The prime rib was perfect. We’ll be back.
Great Christmas atmosphere.
Christmas once a year visit together
We had a lovely Christmas Day dinner. Each course was delicious! The staff was courteous and attentive without hovering.
Food was boring and bland. Half of the table was delivered and the other half took another five minutes to show up. These were omelets and eggs Benedict. Not complicated dishes to time properly. Plus, the eggs were cold and the meat was bland. Waitress totally forgot about our table. Filled half the coffee cups and we had to flag her down to fill the rest of our tables cups. Then she never resurfaced to refill coffee or check on us for half an hour while we waited on our meals. Would have had better food and service at IHOP.
Excellent brunch on Christmas Day. Service, ambiance, food quality and value were awesome.
Xmas menu was sufficient, great taste.
Cody was outstanding as our waiter, very congenial and knowledgeable about the Hotel and Charleston.
Would definitely recommend .
Christmas family brunch. The food was ok- not great.
Food was satisfactory. One mixed drink took 15 minutes to arrive and part of one meal was incorrect. Would not return as there are better choices in the area.
Beautiful elegant setting, helpful staff & great drinks, but food not up to standard expected for the price.
The hotel is gorgeous but the food is extremely overpriced and no better than many of Charleston's good restaurants.
