   Really miss the oil fondues. Whole new Menu. Doesn’t seem to be as crowded as it used to be. New Chef and new waitresses. Everything is new. Food was good.

   We’re leaving frequent customers at Friar Tucks and this was the first time trying the new menu. We started with the Onion bread ( always a favorite) and we shared the wedge salad . The wedge salad was a small single person portion which was good but at $16 we expected a bit more . My husband ordered the Tuck burger and it was good and I order the fish and chip made with Halibut and a malt vinegar aioli . Super happy with it ! Crispy batter perfectly cooked fish and the sauce was delicious! Service, as always was great and attentive!

   It started with great ambience. The service was excellent rom the initial interaction with the hostess all the way through waiter, bus boy and being personally greeted and engaged by Ken, the owner. The food was excellent, especially the double cut pork chop and filet mignon but also the seasonal salad and desserts. We will go back.

    Such a gem in Nevada City with charm and a family- owned touch of personality. Our filet was perfect and the fondue is creamy and delicious. My dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives was perfection and my husband loved his spicy margarita. Service was prompt and food was efficiently served. Thank you Chad and team!

    So disappointed in the new menu! Miss the oil fondue and cheese fondue and chocolate fondue options. We’ve been celebrating life events here since the 70’s for our whole family and friends. Always enjoying the communal dining. Celebrating my son’s 26th his first choice is always FT. He was exceptionally disappointed to find out the main reason he chose the spot, his favorite fondue, was no longer an option. The rest of the meal options were average. The scallops were swimming in sauce and cheese and obscured the deliciousness of the scallops. Unfortunately, FT won’t the choice for celebrations anymore. Service was exemplary as always…they don’t control the menu.

    Friar Tucks consistently serves very good quality food. The service was excellent. My only complaint is that their new menu has drastically reduced the number of items offered. No specials were offered. Prices are higher, which is expected. However, now everything is a la carte. My husband ordered scallops. He had to order a vegetable separately, no salad or soup included. This was one of our favorite spots in the area. Rather disappointed.

    What a great time we had celebrating ab 80th birthday! Good selection of drinks and wines. Amazing food and appetizers. The staff was exceptional and I think they enjoyed us as much as we enjoyed them. Excellent experience.

    We had 5pm reservations but yest we were seated at the entrance to the kitchen where it was noisy. For the most part we had great service but toward the end it was hard to find our waitress. The food was good and the presentation was wonderful.

    So disappointed with change in menu and food (rib eye, Caesar salad, French onion soup) was either over priced or unimpressive. The only worthwhile dish was dessert. We have been going to Friar Tuck since 1980. We will not return. Service was good

    We love Friar Tucks and normally give it a 5 star. The only reason we gave it a 4 this time was that they changed the fondue. They used to give you the oil along with the cheese to cook your meat . For the deluxe fondue you got steak, chicken, shrimp and scallops along with the veggies and bread. Now, it’s only pork sausage and chicken wrapped in prosciutto that is precooked but it still seemed to be the same price . That was disappointing . However, the dessert fondue was amazing as usual and so was everything else we had . We will be back!

    Went with another couple out of recommendation from locals. We ordered 4 NY Steaks that were of poor quality and undercooked (raw) when medium requested. Calamari were nothing but batter. Would not return.

    Changes to menu very disappointing. No escargot, no dinner salad with burgandy dressing and no mash potatoes with the salmon they are now hard square breakfast style. The NY steak lower grade and rubbery. Cutting corners and change is good, but if it is only advantageous for the owner the guest may find somewhere else to go. To bad it has been a go to for over 30 years.

    Worst French Onion soup ever. Great service and ambience. Did not like Caesar salad. Miss tempura prawns as that is why I came. Hope they bring them back. Did want poached prawns but they were out at 6:15. Hope they would add more small plate options.

    Our dinner was one of the most enjoyable we’ve eaten at any restaurant. The waitress offered substitutions when I didn’t want potatoes and a taste of a new wine when I couldn’t decide. All the food was delicious and well presented. Definitely recommend FriarTucks

    We love this place and the ambiance. We went for my husband's birthday with a large group and the service was amazing. The owner introduced himself and brought us some complimentary treats for the birthday boy and our kids. Our waiter was attentive and very nice. The baked scallops and escargot were amazing.     The location in a historic building is terrific. We had cocktails at the bar before sitting for dinner. The menu is extensive. We had mussels, salmon carpaccio and salads. The food was delicious and as expected. I did not give it five stars only because the food was not very unusual, but was definitely good and hearty.

    Friar Tucks is so consistent, it never lets us down. If you have a favorite it will be just as good again and again! Try the ice cream pies they’re the best. Ask for Julie with 37 years of experience you will get great service and a lovely lady.

    Great prime rib, one of us ordered teriyaki steak well done and it was med-rare at best. Drinks were good, chocolate fondue was outstanding. Unfortunately, as much as we enjoy live music, we were seated near the bar and could barely hear each other over the music. The guitar player was highly impressive- just wish we would’ve been seated somewhere we could enjoy our company a bit more.
