We are in town for a conference and I looked for an Italian restaurant on yelp! I can not BELIEVE they have 4 stars as we, there were 3 of us, had the worst meal we have ever had in our lives! The only reason I even gave 1 star was because we had good service! The food was awful! We ordered the eggplant parm, margarita pizza and fettuccini Alfredo, all simple dishes! How can they possibly be bad? the eggplant was sliced micro thin and breaded and fried and it was hard - the sauce was just tomatoes and the cheese on top wasn't really even melted and then a small glob of ricotta! The fettuccine alfredo was soft and mushy and had an odd taste and the pizza was very saucy, and doughy with a few pieces of unmelted fresh mozzarella! It also came within minutes of us ordering, like it was already prepared from a cafeterias where you order and items are just assembled! We all left over 1/2 of each dish and would have stopped after the first bite if we weren't so hungry! Seriously the worst meal ever!

We have dined here on several occasions in the past, and our recent experience confirmed that for us, this restaurant is average and not one of the better Italian places in Carlsbad. We sat in the outdoor tent area, which was pleasant and quieter than the other seating options. Our salad was very good, but I was disapppointed by the pasta pomodoro, which came with a heavy tomato sauce rather than chopped tomatoes. My husband did like the chicken Marsala. The service was fair; the servers brought our salads even before our wine and then messed up on my husband's entree. They delivered the wrong one, then attempted to bring two other orders to our table that belonged to the table next to us. The waitress was generally slow despite not having many tables to cover. Our experience may not have been typical as this place seems popular, but we will not likely return any time soon.

First off ask for Kylie, charming, witty, and efficient. We have enjoyed her as our server many times. For apps the crispy baby artichokes are all the flavor without the hassle. Crispy Brussels sprouts will satisfy a party of four. For dinner the salmon is excellent. However their Sea Bass was one of the top 5 meals I’ve ever eaten. Kylie told me I’ll want to lick the plate and she wasn’t kidding. I slowed down my eating to savor every moment. Wednesday wine night with 1/2 off wines under $100 was amazing. Really??? A beautiful bottle of Daou Cabernet Sauvignon for only $30. Unreal. Can’t wait until next week. Oh yeah, on the upper deck with an ocean view. Simply the best.
