Frank's Americana Revival
The steaks are all Certified Angus and come with generous sides on the same plate, and the salads are almost legendary.
Frank's is a place where you can meet your friends in the bar, dine there, or experience the full menu in the dining room.

Just out on a date with my husband
Food and service excellent as always. If looking for chicken fried steak inside the loop this is the place. The cream gravy and mashed potatoes were unbelievable. The onion rings as an appetizer, the best I have had in years.
Super food , great service and used caution in every possible way.
Can’t say enough good things about this place!
Felt very safe venturing out to eat in during this time.
All protocols were followed.
With Covid-19 obviously affecting their business, they did everything right. Food was wonderful.
Frank's has one of the city's best crab cakes, nicely seasoned and very, very little binder.
The Chicken Fried Steak was point on, the Tuna Tartare was delicious and the Fried Chicken was incredible as always.
Can't wait to dine in again but will definitely do at least a to-go order soon.
Great as always!
I took my elderly parents there after dining at Frank’s with friends several weeks ago. They loved it and especially liked the fact that the noise level was very low compared to most places and told me they want me to take them back there. They especially enjoyed the crab cakes and seafood gumbo, along with the strawberry rhubarb cobbler. I had the grilled salmon w/ lentils & beets & it was outstanding. We will go back again soon!
The occasion was a business lunch and there were 3 in my party. One guest had the clam chowder. He said it tasted freshly prepared and was well seasoned. Another guest had the chicken salad sandwich. The accompanying potato chips appeared to be Ruffles with Ridges. I had the chicken fried steak. All of us enjoyed the food, though it was not particularly noteworthy. The seasonal vegetables served with the chicken fried steak (Brussels sprouts, sweet potato, zucchini) lacked flavor and could have been better.
Fabulous as always!
LOVE everything about this restaurant.
Have enjoyed Frank's over a few years and really like the menu selection, ambiance and service.
Menue is very limited; we had trouble finding something we wanted. Pork chop was very dry even though it was ordered med-rare. Filets were likewise dry.Soup was luke warm. Biscuits sounded wonderful but were small and a big disappointment. Onion rings were great. Cobbler and Flan were a bust!
Manhattan on the rocks was not on the rocks, and had so much vermouth and bitters it was awful.
Sorry, not a good experience.
Best gumbo in the city of Houston, maybe all of southeast Texas. Rich roux-based broth loaded with oysters, shrimp, and crab, not to mention a little okra just to make it authentic. This reviewer is from southern Louisiana so feels comfortable passing judgement on gumbo. Frank’s is the real deal.
Always consistently excellent food and service. Never been disappointed.
Server was great .
Our party enjoyed the evening and the food very much. It was our first time back in a while so we were surprised at the amount of price increase of the entree since our last visit. I enjoyed the salmon and others enjoyed the hamburgers and saulsbury steak.
Celebration lunch. Everything was great!
Good southern food, fried chicken, chicken fried steak, gulf seafood, fair prices. Nice decor without being pretentious.
Had dinner at Frank’s last night. Party of 7. We all thoroughly enjoyed the fabulous food, great drinks, and friendly service! Thanks for a great evening.
Juan was a great server--day after Valentine's Day and the Juan, our waiter was on his game. Food was great as always!
Bad service. Asked for fruit compote and waiter could have cared less . No evidence of any desire to make evening enjoyable. I have been a customer at Frank's for years. Never had this kind of service
The staff worked very well together! I felt like I could call on anyone I saw walking near.
The food was good, the staff was very knowledgeable.
We had a fixed price menu for Valentine's Day, and it was excellent. Every course was good, and the wine selection was solid. Overall we had a great meal.
Great food and excellent wine list too!
Have been to Frank's multiple times and always loved it. Due to this, we chose Frank's for Valentine's Day because we could get a reservation less than a week before. To Frank's defense, did not notice Valentine's was going to be a fixed course/price menu (it was noted on their website). Had we realized, we would have made a different restaurant choice.
That said, we'd have preferred to order from the main menu. Believe we'd have received more food and spent less money. Wait service was not up to previous experiences.
All in all, we'll try Frank's again, but are hoping for a return to superior service and menu next time.
They did not advise as to price fixed menu
Food way pricey for what offered
Not happy at all with the choices
Valentine's Day menu was expensive for what was offered
One of the best in Houston, Mike & Chris makes it so great. Staff is always outstanding. The food is always over the top.
Husband's Osso Bucco was very good. The Fisherman's platter and fried okra were OK, but the Okra had too much corn meal and was overcooked. Fish was a little overcooked, also. Waiter was great.
We dine here about every six weeks because the wait staff is excellent as is the food. It reminds us of an upscale and elevated Black-eyed Pea in the best way. The CFS is the best in town! However it is one of the least diverse environments in the most diverse city in America, and clearly some of the regulars prefer it that way. We are an interracial couple and thankfully we've never had an issue or been treated differently until this latest visit. The hosts seemed intent on seating us at the edge of the dining room, at a dark table, next to the restroom. When we asked for a different table, primarily because the one we were offered was so poorly lit, the host claimed that all of the other 20-plus empty tables were reserved - at 6:30 PM; so we sat. Not surprisingly, we watched and listened as she honored the request of three other parties to be seated at tables different from the one she initially had "reserved" for them.
To say the least, we were peeved. We were very obviously treated differently and it's bizarre because we've dined here a couple dozen times at least without issue. It was very disturbing, and though we love the food, we may not return. Geez, what year is this?
I walked through the front door looking for a very good chicken-fried steak. I am a bit of a connoisseur for chicken-fried steaks and continue to look for the best ever. I was not disappointed with Frank's offer to the taste race. It was excellent and I left happy. At $25, I thought it was a bit pricey, but I had a great steak and paid happily. The bar is a nice place for a toddy or two. We ate at about 7:00 on a Saturday night and we were amazed that there were tables available. Everyone had a great evening at Franks. We'll go back.
