Founding Farmers - King of Prussia
The place is just beautiful. Think farmhouse meets city chic. We went for lunch and I got the chicken salad served on orange/cranberry bread. This was NOT a small sandwich. You get what you pay for. The pretzels and dip appetizer was delicious and came with 3 dips for around $9. Was enough to feed 3 ppl. I have heard good things about their brunch so can’t wait to go back for that! Service was impeccable as well. Highly recommend.
Nice servers and good food
Great food and great service. We loved our server Janay (sp?). She was courteous, friendly, and attentive. We will definitely be back.
We continue to try and give this place a chance to get better, but it doesn’t. They aren’t a new restaurant anymore, so I don’t understand the issue. Went out for a family meal and it went wrong from the start. The waitress that initially served us, let us know that she would take our drinks and our order but would be gone after that and someone else would take over...I knew that with the experiences we’ve had here in the past, that this probably wasn’t going to go smooth.
We put our order in. I ordered the farmers platter which is basically a sampling of several items on the menu. My daughter ordered the “take out” spare ribs and my wife ordered the pimento cheese burger. Once our first waitress left, our new waitress came over to introduce herself and see if we needed anything and told us that our orders were put in. 15-20 mins later, she came back and told me that I couldn’t have the farmers platter since they were missing one of the items, I asked which one and she said that she didn’t know. I though nothing of it, as this can happen from time to time, although I wish it didn’t take 20 min to let me know. Anyways, I ordered something else. When our meals came, they brought my daughter the wrong thing. Instead of the “take out” spare ribs, they brought her a huge chunk of short rib. When we let them know that she ordered the spare ribs they said, they would go and check it out. Turns out that they were out of the spare ribs which is why I couldn’t get the farmers platter and our original waitress had messed up the order for my daughter. However, had our new waitress know what they were missing off the farmers platter, we could have informed her that that is what my daughter had ordered and we could have figured out this mistake much earlier. So in order for my daughter not to have to wait for another meal, my wife and I just split ours with her.
With the constant struggles with service that we experience here, we won’t be back.
My second, and last visit. We made a reservation for 1pm after the Sunday lunch crowd, and waited (standing) 35 minutes to be seated. We waited an additional 20 minutes for our drinks; refills were impossible. By the time I got my first bite of food from the buffet, which was a NIGHTMARE to navigate, it was 2:15pm. In an area that is saturated with delicious restaurants, you better believe I'm going to Paladar for brunch next time. This place was just not worth the wait. The food was alright, but the mass swarms of people slamming into you is anxiety provoking and there was barely any food left for us when we got up there (nothing had been replenished). Our waitress, Kaila (Kyla) was VISIBLY annoyed because we paid our bill immediately and sat for a while to let our food digest so we could go up and get more food once it had been replenished. Since we waited so long, we wanted a chance to eat and enjoy ourselves. Watching her walk past and give us a face, and slowly remove one item from our table each time she passed became an annoyance. We still tipped her over 20%, but girl, that shade is BAD in the restaurant business. The head hostess kept walking by with a tablet, back and forth as well; it was too much. Please just leave tables alone for a little while so people can eat in peace - especially if you're going to make them wait and then make them wait more for their food. Our 2.5 hr visit wasn't enjoyable and we are more than happy to take ourselves elsewhere. This restaurant felt more like a fastfood joint and I can get a cheeseburger anywhere. Cheers.
Arrived reservation could not be found, waiter had to come and fine. Not all the buffet stations were always kept filled. Vegetable were not consistent, some were raw some were cooked. Would not attend again. Check came through with .50 more in sales tax than is charged it my state. If Founding Farmers in KOP does this to all there customers they will be rich. This is the 2nd review I filled out.
The service was great and the food was good. But there were about 6 items empty and no one was at the carving station. Some of the food was cold. Very disappointing! We have been for brunch multiple times and by far this past visit was the worst. We won’t be back for a very long time, if at all
Excellent Sunday brunch buffet. Food was really good. Negatives are that it was crowded and they were frequently out of items. Scrambled eggs, cinnamon rolls, sausage... only strawberry left for ice cream...a little pricey but the quality was worth it.
Birthday get experience
Made a 8:15p reservation for Sat night for a table of 6. Got there by 8:10p and was told that they were running 15-20 minutes behind. We were finally seated around 9:00pm after many trips to the hosts who seems to not care. I have been to Founding Farmers many times in the past. Something is wrong with this place now the way it is run. Finally a Manager came to apologize and offer 2 free appetizers but the evening did not get any better as the waitress was slow and our drinks and food took very long to come. Will not recommend anymore and will look elsewhere for future. Very disappointed.
Do your best to visit this restaurant on a weekday! Our party arrived 20 minutes early to our reservation, understanding we would likely wait until our exact reservation time, but we were not seated until 30 minutes past our reservation time and weren't served our food for almost an hour after sitting down. The food was very well prepared and manicured carefully, but I would have loved to experience this restaurant on a slower day with more attentiveness of the staff on site. I do recommend for the food quality and the ambiance, and it is a great energetic atmosphere for friends/family.
This was my first time dining at Founding Farmers and will definitely be back. We had reservations on a saturday night and it was quite busy. We were seated a little after 8 and was greeted by the manager when we were seated who apologized for the wait. He also stopped by to check on how we were doing towards the end of our meal which was super nice.
The food was amazing! I had the shrimp and crab risotto. I would recommend this plate. There was jumbo lumps of crab meat and large shrimp on top of the creamiest risotto i have ever had. The only problem now is that it will be hard to try anything else on the menu when i do go back!
Great food and great service! We celebrated a friend’s birthday and enjoyed our evening very much!
We had a 6:45pm dinner reservation on a Saturday night. Our whole party (of 4 people) arrived and checked in at about 6:40pm. We proceeded to wait with the large crowd of people (who we presumed all did not have reservations and were waiting for first come first serve tables). Given the fact it was a busy Saturday night, I was trying to be patient and give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt. We proceeded to wait about 20 minutes before I checked in with the host again. She told me that they had just finished seating their 6:30pm reservations (at 7pm) and were now starting on their 6:45pm reservations. I was slightly discouraged but figured we would be seated soon. Finally, I checked in again at 7:15-7:20 to let them know we had been waiting for almost 40 minutes at this point for our reservation. They apologized and said they would have us seated soon. We were sat about 5 minutes later. I understand that restaurants get slammed and tables often overstay their welcome past paying their bills, but it seems excessive to be 30+ minutes behind on reservations. It almost seemed like a glorified call ahead seating program. The restaurant was kind, and they comp'ed us a few appetizers for the table, but we would have just preferred being sat on time. Overall the food and service was good, but it was tainted by our experience waiting for our reservation. The restaurant has great cocktails and interesting food choices, but I cannot say we will be in a rush to return given our experience Saturday night.
Food was delicious. Service was very slow you really need a reservation here!
Food was great but it took forever to get our food. Our waitress was awkward and wasn’t clear about when our food was coming.
We loved it!! Everything from appetizer of cornbread skillet and an order of fried pirogies , to the varied entrees including southern fried chicken, salad, and a scallops were very good. The restaurant accommodated a vegan and a meat lover. We ended with homemade dulce de leche ice cream. The drink I had was even creative and delicious.
Only item I did not love was the Mac and cheese. My homemade Mac and cheese is hard to compare.
We will be back!!
My guest ordered steak medium rare. The steak was medium or medium well. She ate it, but was not thrilled with it. My meal was good. I had no complaints. Since the steak was the most expensive meal o the lunch menu it should have been cooked as ordered.
Excellent buffet brunch with options different from the usual, like a taco bar, different kinds of meats/sausages, and homemade ice cream. Drinks not included, but for the price we paid, it was still good value. Food was good overall except for some of the meats, which were on the dry side. Service was above and beyond - with staff going out of the way to get us items that had run out at the buffet. Also beautiful ambiance, especially in the side rooms where you feel like you're dining alfresco!
I didn’t realize that the only option for Brunch was a buffet.
We waited a good 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. We had a very nice server. The food was ok. I really only wanted breakfast food. I wound up eating fried chicken, very good, and some marinated salmon and cod. But buffet isn’t my thing. The best was the cinnamon bun. It’s a good thing I grabbed it at my first serving, because they ran out and my friends never got to try it.
This is by far the nicest buffet I've ever been to! The food is delicious and there's always plenty.
Hi AmandaW: Many thanks for your AWESOME review! We appreciate it and hope to have you back to our weekend buffet brunch again soon! -Amy
The food was very good. We had brunch. We are always look for new places to try different foods. I really loved the seafood paella and the French toast.
Fresh and tasty food every time. Accompanied by excellent service
The fried chicken was just not good this time. One piece was the other was not. The bad piece was just all breading barely any chicken at all.
Our waitress was excellent!
A must try... everything made fresh on the premises. Very good.
The food was excellent. The service was excellent. Everything was top notch. This is a minor comment, I ordered eggs and the amount of eggs was very small, only got 1 piece of toast. I have been at other breakfasts at FF and the amount of food was excellent (pancakes, brunch).
All and all great pleace.
We have been to the location in DC and loved it, so we checked out the King of Prussia location. It was just as good with the added benefit of homemade donuts, which are included both on the dinner and dessert menus. Delicious!
Hi AndreaR: Awesome! Many thanks for sharing this with us and we already look forward to having you back soon. :) -Amy
We love Founding Farmers philosophy and creative menu. Pricing is reasonable. The visual environment is lovely and the tables are spacious. The din in the room can make it hard to carry on conversations. The scallops, mushroom soup, cauliflower hummus, cheesecake, and beer selection were excellent. The prime rib was OK at best. Not matching the quality I've come to expect from Founding Farmers. I must confess I did not tell our waiter, giving them the chance to make ammends. The service was excellent.
The crab and shrimp rosario changed slightly. The shrimp weren’t as big but the dish was still delicious
My husbands fish and chips were amazing. The crab and artichoke dip was good but not worth the $15 price tag.
The service was fantastic, our waitress was wonderful. They addressed my food allergies wonderfully and were so thoughtful. The only problem was that the restaurant was out of so many things when we were there- prime rib, sour cream, key lime pie, cherry pie, cheesecake- so many things we ordered we not available by 5:00 on a Sunday, which was very frustrating. Our waitress did a great job handling it, but it was frustrating that the kitchen wasn’t well prepared.
Birthday great surprise !
Great service and food! Never disappoints!
Hi Daniit: Thank you so much for your awesome review! :) We appreciate it and hope to have you back soon! -Amy
Had brunch; buffet bar kept running out and it was a bit crowded and manic - food was good, server was a bit flat. We’ll be back but more likely for a different meal time to order off menu.
This is a repeat visit for me, first time for my husband. Treated him to brunch. Let's suffice it to say he does not want to return. While there was a great variety of food, NOTHING was at an appropriate temperature. Every entree was cold. They could not keep the supply of eggs consistent. The carving station often had slabs but nothing cut, and the same person was in charge of cooking the eggs. I missed the opportunity to get eggs twice...when I was able to get some the third time, by the time i walked back to my table they were stone cold. I tried the quiche...it seemed that it had just been removed from the refrigerator. The sausages were luke warm. The beer can chicken was cold and dry. Both of us became ill when we got home. I did contact them via the customer service link on their website but as of this writing, have not heard back. Definitely not worth the 30 dollars per person we paid.
Hi Karen: Thank you for sharing your review with us, and for reaching out via email. Again, I am real sorry for the disappointment from this visit and relieved we connected. That said, I hope to keep in touch and appreciate you giving us the chance to make this right. -Amy
This is a destination for us. We travel 1 hour to enjoy a delicious variety for Brunch. There is something for every palate.
I’ll start with saying this was my 4th time here and the only time I had such a horrendous experience. I had a reservation, yes busy night but you are ALWAYS busy that shouldn’t be a surprise.
So the bar manager makes me a drink.... vodka on the rocks ....it was almost indiscernible in the glass...I ask for a double I receive another tiny pour of vodka.
She was less than friendly when I asked how her night was.... literally like I was insulting her.
Should I mention now that I attended culinary school and worked in the industry... 3 of the 4 of us in the party actually work in foodservice so maybe 90 years of experience combined??
Allie was STUPENDOUS... the only good part of the night.
Appetizers were very good... prime rib... 2 of us ordered it. It was cold, potatoes were cold, green beans cold. The guys meals were fine
We send the meals back... they griddled them my rib is now well done. I don’t it eat and they take it off the check.
Dessert... yay... I order apple pie.... 5 minutes later Allie comes back and tells me you sold out of Apple pie. I get it, it happens. I made this reservation and was excited to bring my friends but this experience was a 2 out of 5 only getting the 2 because Allie was a 10!
But she cannot bartend, cook and serve so booooo on yout kitchen and bar, epic fail!
Jeff was the manager and he was lovely as well... took off the my meal and treated us to dessert. The sad part is I know you are better than this so you can’t fall flat on Valentine’s Day weekend!!
Hi LuvBoston: I am super sorry for the mishaps that took place during your visit. :( I feel terrible for the less than desirable experience at our bar, the improperly prepared Prime Rib entrees, and the unavailable Apple Pie Of course, I am relieved to know my teammate, Jeff was involved and did his best to turn around the course of your experience. This said, we hope to have you back for another try in the future and please call us: (484) 808-4008 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
We waited 20 minutes past our reservation, but received complimentary cornbread for the inconvenience. The wait was worth it. Our server was phenomenal. She was attentive with a great memory and personality. The food was excellent and overall, a great atmosphere for many occasions... date night, ladies night, work dinner, etc.
Hi AubreyM: We appreciate your kind patience for the delay this time, and thank you so much for the overall 5-STAR rating for your experience. :) We hope to have you back soon and please call us: (484) 808-4008 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
