Overwhelmed understaffed and not skilled in the art of customer service. Kids pizza is tiny. Hope they can up their game as it’s a nice location.
Food was not as good as the other location that we visited last year. It was noisy, and service was a bit inattentive.
We are from South Korea. Food is very good.
Had an early dinner while visiting Hawaii. Food and service was wonderful and attentive. Looking forward to coming back again.
Great service and nice selection of food.
The only problem is when we got there they said we didn’t have a reservation on open table app, I showed them my reservation and they sorted us right away, but it wasn’t showing up on their screen ! But they took good care of us!
I went for dinner with my husband and parents.
I don’t know if our server was on training or training someone.
Service was kind of slow.
Appetizers were ok but my dad’s french fries came with back rib was completely burnt. We wanted to send it back and looked for our server but couldn’t find and she never came back to do quality check until we were done and asked for take out box.
They were friendly but just not worth to go back again.
Great service, good menu variety and good pricing for Hawaii.
You get what you pay for here. Good value,
Our server was amazing. She really listened and made sure everyone’s order was perfect.
The “pumpkin pie was tasty but very small. Not really worth the price.
The Lamb was very good......Server was great. Food came out fast.
My second time at this restaurant - food is exceptional. Fish and chips uniquely prepared - not greasy at all but very fresh flavor. Sat outside with view of pond. This is an amazing restaurant and a new favorite.
About 15 minutes after we had ordered, the waitress returned to say the kitchen was out of rice for the hamburger steak meal. We really wish we had known sooner.
Very good food. Fries with fish & chips were cold. Gumbo was good but had a lot of oil floating on it.
Nice to see a new restaurant at fairly normal prices... compared to most Hawaii restaurants, prices and portions were good. Not a huge inside seating space, but two outside patios if weather is appropriate. Had a reservation and we were seated right away. Could have possibly used another server as ours was really running around to keep up with all his tables. Will definitely return next time we’re in Waikoloa.
While the service and restaurant was very nice our food was not good. Ordered beer cheese that was like soup and the chicken pesto had not pesto in it. Left very disappointed with the food.
We were seated outside in a corner that was enclosed in glass-very warm. There was debris on the floor and tables were left uncleared nearby.
Ordered wine-it was served in a glass that reeked of detergent, undrinkable. Was replaced but this left a horrible taste in my mouth.
Food was so so, definitely not reflective of price.
Our server was friendly and very apologetic.
Food was wonderful along with the live music. Our waitress Kat was very good. Would definitely go back but must ask for Kat after her service wouldn’t want anyone else.
We were disappointed with the chicken breast as it was pretty tasteless, my partner had had ribs/chicken rack which was just average, although the gin and bramble were tasty and the bottle of Chardonnay beautiful
Very, very noisy. Couldn’t talk with friends because of the volume of the chatter. Food was not very good. Two of us had chicken meals that were okay. Two had fish tacos that were awful. They were remade with less spices. Still unedible. Our waitress Pua was very good. She removed the charge for the tacos. I will not return.
Food was okay. I ordered the OPA. It came in 4 filets. It was dry and not much seasoning. Papaya desert was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive. I would try it again.
Very pleasant and great food. Server was excellent.
Food choices were very good. We had the chicken ceasar appetizer, exceptional. The BBQ chicken and ribs were out of this world. The pork chops were tasty.
Need more consistency on their dishes, especially shrimp and grits. Had 2 meals there within a week and it was a great experience the first time and an ok experience the second.
Good (from) scratch food. The server made the point that the bread and plates were (from) ‘scratch’ a few times. Balsamic vinaigrette to die for - it should be bottled. Fresh catch was yummy. Kids pizza was disappointing. I’d go for adult next time. Decent prices for being in a resort area. Great view of a pond. Try it out!
I saw the commercials for Foster’s Kitchen and the pictures of the food and atmosphere looked nice.
So I decided to booked a reservation at through Open Table and noted online we would be celebrating our anniversary.. sooo there was no acknowledgement of the special occasion by the hostess or the server/waitress. I’m wondering why Open Table even bothers to ask if there is any special occasion happening.
As for the menu.. it looked promising, but we were all disappointed. The server made it a point of informing us that Foster’s Kitchen prides itself on fresh, scratch-made, organic items . That didn’t seem to make a difference with the meals we ordered and the way they tasted. I had the Stuffed Chicken which is stuffed with cheese, prosciutto and rosemary. It was served with vegetables, mashed potatoes and Kona “red-eye” gravy. I asked if the I could omit the prosciutto and was told no since the chicken is already pre-stuffed (so much for fresh made). I asked for the gravy on the side.. the meal was served and the gravy was all over the food .. the zucchini was lukewarm .. the mashed potatoes were lumpy and the gravy was thick and gummy. My husband ordered the Hawaiian style Burger, which he thought would be like a chopped steak .. wrong.. it was a hamburger patty that looked like it had been cooked hours before.. at least his zucchini was warm and he liked the gravy. The only positive note of the evening was the Kilauea Stuffed Mushrooms, which were fabulous and the cocktails.
I was hoping for a memorable anniversary dinner .. and it was memorable for a totally different reason. As for the commercial.. it was probably the location in Kailua-Kona .
Table not available at reservation time. Waited 15 minutes to be seated - after agreeing to dine indoors, although Rez was for outdoor seating. Needed to ask for water. No cheese service offered with pasta dishes.
We arrived with a reservation for two, but had to wait roughly 10 mins for our table to be ready. Once we were seated everything progressed relatively well with the only exception of the appetizer coming with the main meals. Food itself was tasty, the fresh baked items were very well done. The steak I had asked for was done properly.
Excellent FOOD!!! Paulina was our server and she went above and beyond.
Best Place to go for dinner if your in the area.
The food was great but it took 30+ minutes to get our food after we ordered. And our salad arrived when our dinners did.
We had a table outside on the lake. It was a very pleasant location. Service was reasonable fast and amicable especially since we had a large table of around 20 customers next to us. Food was imaginative and tasty.
Very over rated!
While the food was great, we received some pretty poor service from our disengaged, unfriendly server. I'm not quite sure if the food was good enough to overlook the service, especially since on a previous visit the service was slow and lackluster, which is really too bad.
The food, service, and atmosphere were fabulous! We had the stuffed mushrooms and garlic bread appetizers, pork chops and Opa tacos, and the lava cake and the lilikoi no-bake cheesecake. All were outstanding! Paul, our server, was the best!
It’s was an overall excellent experience. Our server Hoke was amazing! Very knowledgeable of the menu. Everything is made from scratch and most is locally sourced which I always appreciated. I ordered the steak pasta. The only reason I didn’t give the five stars is the steak had quite a bit of gristle and too tough to eat half of it. What I could was great, tender and flavorful. Pine nuts were missing but overall the flavor of the sauce was divine, not too heavy and had great flavor. The tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms and Maui onions complemented the dish as well. My friend ordered the chicken pesto pasta and had vegetables added to make like a creamy pesto primavera. It was decadent! The flavor and seasoning of the grilled chicken was amazing and the sauce was perfect! I will definitely be back! Thank you for an overall great experience and definitely recommend.
Had the flatbread pizza (meat). Nothing impressive or noteworthy about the dish. The bread itself was touted to be house-made but it was just a chewy piece of dough. Toppings were rather skimpy and haphazardly scattered over the top and the basil was charred to a crisp, rendering it tasteless. I’ve had better frozen pizza from a supermarket.
Delicious, locally sourced food. Prices very fair. Nice ambiance out back on lake. Paul, our waiter, was good as it gets. Looking forward to our next trip in already. Much aloha, AmyS.
Excellent, something for everyone and the fresh from scratch food shows. Everything was delicious.
First time at this location have dined at location in Kona several times.
Our waitress seem to be busy didn’t see much of her food was good
We enjoyed ourselves so much.
We enjoyed ourselves. The hostest sat us quickly.
The server was nice and made great recommendations.
We had five children with us and had to request ketchup (a few times). But one our daughters got ketchup for their burger and fries and the other one was chicken tenders and fries it was smooth sailing.
