Absolutely brilliant vibe, stunning food and really friendly staff..Highly recommend this place..
What a gem. Loved everything about it! Can’t wait to return.
We had a fantastic lunch made to feel so welcome and thank you to the lovely staff for letting us stay soo long!! We will be back again for sure😍
Great food and service. Lovely restaurant. Hope to return soon.
Very rushed - told us we had an hour and a half for the meal service was slow we ordered and our food took ages the dessert arrived which was ordered in the time frame and they came out with the Bill saying we needed to go just as the dessert arrived.
Decent restaurant but food could have been better.
This wasn’t a great place to eat the food was very bland and wouldn’t go back
Food was delicious. Servers were lovely, attentive and funny! Thank you both so much!
Was a good evening dinner experience in soho.
Staff absolutely fantastic
Great food and ambience
Dined with elderly mother having not seen her for long time. Ambience was great, staff very friendly, food sublime.
Loved it, I also liked the staff, very attentive, chilled and lovely
We booked an early meal to get done in good time for theatre trips etc.. it was quite quiet generally and we were well looked after with good hearty food that was enjoyed across the family. I nice touch with the birthday cake for one of the kids too.
Service was not good at all. Very disappointed as chose this for my anniversary dinner
The food here was outstanding. I didn't realise dogs were allowed in the premises but that didn't bother us. The waiting staff were very attentive, although I did ask one of the waiters if the cheese was vegetarian and he replied it was (without checking) and another person who I believe was more senior corrected him. I should've complained, however, I didn't want it to ruin my lovely evening. Would definitely recommend the arrabiata. We also got to see Alexandra Burk there, a pleasant surprise. I'll definitely go here again soon.
Booked here as read 5 star reviews but we didn’t have a five star experience. Asked for water 3 times as they just kept forgetting to bring it over. Meals came out at separate times, which meant some were cold. No spoon given for pasta dish. Told kitchen was closed when receiving our mains so we couldn’t order dessert - never have I ever experienced anything like this. Also very expensive for what it is as the food was ok, not memorable and I’ve had better. Wouldn’t recommend, would have eaten somewhere else if we’d have known, especially it being our last night in London.
A great meal on a Sunday night. We had our dog with us, who was made to feel very welcome. Food and service were fabulous
The pizza with truffle oil is amazing- highly recommend! Tables are very close to each other was the only minor drawback but other than that was a fantastic, authentic meal!
Always very accommodating and dog friendly. We love coming here with our dogs!
Staff very attentive & service was great. We sat outside but still felt part of the restaurant.
Food was fabulous!
Staff food and restaurant were all good and I would definitely go back
Super family restaurant in the liveliest and most inclusive area of central London. Highly recommended
going back!!!! little gem. An all round lovely restaurant, food was great.
We had a brilliant night at 40 Dean Street. Gorgeous food and fantastic service. The waiters were very busy but were still attentive and excellent. Highly recommend
Very nice food and wine . Quite busy and good atmosphere
This was a superb experience the staff were amazing the food was exceptional
It was a memorable event that we will definitely be repeating and recommending to our friends and family’s
Our anniversary celebration was made extra special by the staff ❤️
Waitress was amazing, food was outstanding and whole evening was perfect,
Lovely food & service, and a really good looking restaurant, will be back
It didn't bode well when we were seated on a table right at the back of the restaurant that the staff had to vacate to let us sit down! It was cramped and next to the bar, with bar stools invading our space. I sat next to a large box with 'Fragile' written on it. A delivery that belonged in the office, not the restaurant!
We had to ask the waitress to kindly ask the bartender to stop throwing her empty bottles into the bar skip - the noise of this was horrendous. Then she turned the music up to an unacceptable in protest!
The food, two pasta dishes, albeit tasty, took 30 minutes to arrive and we had to chase it. Staff were not very attentive - which in my view is down to a lack of training. This was a 5 pm sitting, and the restaurant was about a third full when we arrived, so there wasn't an issue with a bottleneck of orders.
Just a dreadful experience, and one I won't be repeating.
First time there. Two people. Food was served hot and fresh (as it clearly was served as soon as kitchen was ready and did not delay). Simple and tasty Italian food. Reasonable price. Waiters were lovely and personable. 3 courses with wine and service charge £130. Worth it
We had a lovely evening with a wonderful ambience and the most friendly staff: the restaurant is ideally located and the atmosphere couldn’t have been better.
We each had a main and desert accompanied by drinks: unfortunately whilst one dish was exceptional, the other was not properly cooked (the risotto rice was still hard / crunchy to chew on). Whilst I appreciate the restaurant was busy and whilst the waiter was apologetic after asking how the meal was, I was really surprised that neither a discount or a removal of the cost of day a desert or drink was taken from our bill. At over £30 a head for a simple meal, you do expect the quality to be exceptional so I was sadly surprised the restaurant did not rectify the situation.
Due to the lovely staff, ambience and other dishes, I would recommend going again, however I was really disappointed that nothing was done about an almost inedible dish, not due to taste just due to cooking time.
Service wasn't great. On arrival the restaurant was quiet but we sat there for a good 10 minutes before anyone came out to us. The waiters were nice but the food was really slow to come out - not a great experience when you are under time constraints (we were going to the theatre). The food once it did arrive was good but there was no obvious reason for the delay. Given the number of other restaurants in the area I am not sure I would rush back.
Nice surroundings and good food however service wasn’t great. Our waiter was very helpful and pleasant but we were not able to have dessert due to how busy they were. We were told it would be a long wait. We had booked for a pre theatre meal so didn’t have time to wait. This was frustrating given open table was clear we would only have our table for 2 hrs which was fine but the restaurant were unable to deliver a 3 course meal during this time which was disappointing. No manager or senior member of staff came to talk to us and we felt it was unfair to leave it to our waiter who had only been working there a few days.
The service was incredible and we had the loveliest waiter and they all worked so hard. Unfortunately, it was incredibly busy so we got our food over an hour after we ordered it (totally fine, it happens!) but the food was great and we look forward to coming back when we don’t have to rush off for a show! Thank you !
Food, service and general feel was outstanding. It’s the first time we visited 40 Dean Street but it certainly won’t be the only time. Staff were excellent and helpful.
Food was perfection, tasty, good portion sizes and just the right temperature.
Would recommend 1000 times over.
40 Dean Street describes its cuisine as 'modern Italian'. Sure enough, it has classic pasta dishes, three pizzas, a selection of antipasti-based starters, tiramisu desserts and some typical main dishes such as chicken Milanese. Being classic dishes, there was no spin that made the word 'modern' feel necessary. And, even though they were classic dishes, there was nothing that made me feel they were authentic enough to be truly 'Italian' either. For example, my 'pappardelle' was not actually the wide flat strips I expected, but narrow strips that I'd call tagliatelle. It was very nice though and the beef ragu it came with was delicious with melt-in-the-mouth chunks of tender meat.
Two people in our party had the ravioli. One had the lobster ravioli in seafood bisque and the other had the ricotta and truffle ravioli. It was quite hard to tell the difference, which suggests they had skimped on the more expensive ingredients. Even so, it all tasted very good was beautifully presented and some of our other dishes were excellent (vongole, salmon, all the desserts etc). That said, it felt a bit overpriced for a restaurant with laminated menus.
A high point was the staff, who were wonderfully friendly, attentive and helpful (although the waiter who served the wine volunteered that he never drinks the stuff – it's not quite what you want and definitely counts as 'oversharing'). The seating was perfectly comfortable and the decor was tasteful.
My score would be higher if it weren't for the noise level. A full restaurant is going to mean a fair amount of noise, but it doesn't help to play background music just loud enough to drive everyone to shout louder over it to be heard, which in turn drowns out the music. My tip: drop the music – no one can hear it enough to enjoy it and it's stopping many diners from enjoying the company of their friends because they can't hold a conversation with anyone other than the person right next to you.
The staff where amazing I can’t remember there names but they made us feel very welcome and the food was delicious thank you for a great service
Went for dinner and enjoyed the whole experience. Would definitely go again
