Nino Trotta — who owns Forcella alongside his girlfriend, general manager Shannon MacGowan, and his brother, wine director Christian Trotta — say that the cozy, candlelit vibe of the restaurant sets Forcella apart in a sea of massive North End trattorias.
“It’s tiny, 33 or 34 seats,” he said. “It’s perfect for a date.”
Chef Robert Morotto, formerly of the Aquitaine Group, has designed a menu that includes dishes from all over Italy, with a slight lean toward Naples, where the Trotta family is from. Primi dishes include meatballs, lobster bisque, and crispy quail, while pastas range from linguine alle vongole and risotto to gnocchi with braised rabbit. Salmon, ribeye, and pork porterhouse round out the menu.

This is one of our favorite places . Best Cacio e Pepe I've ever had. My husband had Rigatoni with sausage . Was delicious ! Our waiter was wonderful ! The staff was welcoming and pleasant. Service was great.
I love coming here! It’s a nice combination of good food, nice people, calm lighting and good music. My favorite is the Carbonara, I get it every time I come here. I also get mushrooms and Brussel sprouts on the side. Very cozy and clean place. Can’t wait to go back!

Authentic Italian cuisine. The linguine pesto was terrific. Also the roast duck with faro. Lovely outdoor terrace.
What a hidden gem! Everything was fabulous…just as a heads up, they don’t offer dessert or coffee, but with enough pastry shops to accommodate an after dinner treat, this can easily be overlooked.
We ordered the meatballs, carbonara, cacio e pepe, the duck and the chicken parm and everything was absolutely delicious. It’s probably now one of my favorite places in the north end.
The spacious interior courtyard was a wonderful setting for outdoor socially distanced dining. The website clearly explains their COVID protocol for customers and staff. The food was excellent and the wait staff (Tatiana) took the time to really understand dietary restrictions. We had a great meal. Will definitely go back.
Fantastic al fresco dinner! We were seated in the back courtyard and felt like we were transported to Italy. The service was great and all of our meals were delicious. I had the salmon- cooked to perfection over fresh selection of vegetables and a grain. The veal chop was also amazing. We will back soon!

Another lovely evening dining outdoors on the back courtyard of Forcella, nicest ambiance in the North End. This time I brought a friend of mine from California who was heading to Spain. Service was exceptional from the engaging and friendly Ryan. Ask for him! Loved the charcuterie appetizer and the 2 risottos: the night’s special with large shrimp and the pesto with Cape Cod scallops. I’ll be back with other friends, or just myself! Highly recommended.
Forcella is a very quaint, intimate and authentic Italian restaurant. Our food was amazing and our waiter brought his recommended wines which were also very good.
Excellent meal in the lovely outdoor courtyard. Really good service attentive and very efficient. We had risotto - which was really one of the best I have ever eaten- my son had the lamb pasta which he loved!

Another lovely dinner at Forcella in their very pleasant interior courtyard. The wait staff are impeccable.. invisible until you want them, helpful, offered excellent information about food and the wine. The mushroom risotto was particularly good.
First time here and definitely not disappointed. The food was amazing, Christian was friendly and personable. We we be back soon.

We must have been there at an off time because it was very quiet and in this neighborhood that's hard to find. The staff was professional and smart and very good at their jobs. The food was delicious. I definitely recommend.

Forcella is one of my favorites, and I have recommended it to several friends who’ve enjoyed it as well. The food is fantastic! The wine list is very well-curated and one of my favorites in Boston. Bottles aren’t overpriced, either. The staff are wonderful, and our server somehow managed to be super attentive while managing the insanity of two huge parties (a graduation and a wedding) on a busy Saturday night. The patio is gorgeous, and secluded away from street traffic (no Hanover street exhaust fumes!). It’s not too crowded; tables aren’t smushed together as is common these days. It’s perfect for a relaxed dinner.
The octopus was over cooked and under seasoned. The pasta with rabe was bitter and inedible. The crispy duck was not crispy but ragout was tasty.

Wonderful little square . So atmosphere before entering is lovely , inside it’s totally charming. Hostess and all staff friendly and helpful .
Wine list is superb and well priced. The black pepper pasta was delicious . Not a fan of the Caesar salad . Loved the white anchovies but I’m too traditional and didn’t care for the balsamic vinaigrette. Gave it a sweet taste . But that’s just my taste.
We had the salmon and the duck . Both nicely plated.
