Located inside the Westley Hotel in the heart of Downtown Calgary, Fonda Fora is an exciting new contemporary Mexican restaurant brought to you by the folks at Thank You Hospitality.

Chef Jhonattan Lona has crafted a menu based on his upbringing in Querétaro and his journey in kitchens across the world. Much of our concept is based around the heirloom corn of Mexico. We import four types of corn from a collective of heirloom farms in Mexico in order to provide the best product we can. We process this corn from raw and turn it into masa for dishes all across our menu, like our Sope, Tamal, and of course, Tortillas. There is a saying in Mexico that we live by at Fonda Fora: "Sin maíz no hay país," meaning without corn, there is no country. Maíz is the lifeblood of Mexican cuisine, and we are excited to present it to you as it should be.

                                        We were excited to try this restaurant but we ended being very disappointed. We arrived at 5:35 pm and we left at 8:15 so needless to say that the service was very slow. We ordered dessert at 7:03 and we got the bill at 8:05. It took forever to get the first round of drinks too and only 5 of us (out of 7) got them at first while one of the drinks was just a diet coke so not a fancy cocktail. While such long wait? The waitress apologized and said that the bar is backed up. Then the food came. While our appetizer chips and guac were good, one of the mains was very bad. I dont suggest to order octopus tacos unless you like tortillas covered in so much grease so you cant eat it with your hands. In addition to it being greasy, it was also tasteless. It was probably the worst meal I've had in a restaurant in a very long time. The waitress never came to check how our food was so I didnt have a chance to send it back. Two of us who ordered this dish, didnt eat it at all but we decided to take it home to see maybe it tastes better the next day or if you are really hungry. Nope, same greasy taste so ended up throwing it away at home.

                                        Although the restaurant boasts an exceptional ambiance they were unable to appropriately host a part of 10. Service was incredibly slow, which is unexpected as we were one of the only tables when we were first sat. Additionally, instructions to the kitchen did not seem to relay properly resulting in missed items to the table.

                                        Went there for fathers day and it was busy but they hadn't put enough staff on in the kitchen, in the restaurant or in the bar. Our drinks took over half an hour, our meal over two hours all up. The food was mixed, some things were not bad but not exceptional and other things were not great. Wouldn't go there again for Mexican. Much better Mexican to be had elsewhere in Calgary.

                                        Went here for Father's Day. First visit. The food was incredible! Great value too. So happy we made the choice to dine here. Honestly one of the best Mexican restaurants I've eaten at.

                                        Great service from our waitress, very helpful deciphering the menu. She was also very helpful in making sure we were comfortable, turning down the outdoor heater for us. The food was delicious.
