Understaffed due to the current labor shortage but an excellent server with good knowledge. Pork Chop really good. Bread and flavored butter appetizer is disappointing. The regular foccacia with olive oil was way better.
It was very hot in the restaurant. The service was a bit slow for a Monday afternoon. Food was delicious though. Just hate it was so hot inside.
Excellent food and service. I love sitting at the wrap around chefs table where I can watch the cooks at work.
We made a reservation for 7:15 and we’re not seated until close to 7:50/8:00. The food was delicious but the main courses could have been a little hotter, they were closer to room temperature.
Giving it 5 stars but a few observations below. Food was really good and definitely worth coming back. Here are a couple of things to know:
1. Service was mostly saved by our waitress' excellent personality but unfortunately they were severely understaffed for a full house evening and she was super thinly stretched between tables everywhere around the restaurant. As a result there were some timing gaps and had to wait for drink orders etc a bit. Overall it took us over 2 hours in and out. Probably a covid staffing issue.
2. It was hot and it was not my hormones. A thermostat inside away from the windows on the back was set to 70 but the temperature reading was 80 (yes, 80). I noticed at least 2 large size fans placed around the building so it seems it is a known issue with their AC simply not being able to keep up with the afternoon sun coming through the south side windows.
My new favorite!! I have heard rave reviews about this place, and it lived up to all of the hype. Food was amazing, cocktails were well-crafted and strong. My only feedback would be that the strength of the cocktails meant that we only had one drink each, when we would likely have ordered several on a typical night. Not a bad thing for us, but would cut into business profits, I am sure.
Such a fun evening! Our server Victoria was knowledgeable and fun, gave excellent recommendations and made sure we sampled all the best dishes. The hamachi with shishito peppers & apples was so amazing I am still thinking about it. All the pastas were phenomenal as well.
Duck was amazing with the brussel sprouts. Squid ink pasta was okay but nothing amazing. Felt like it lacked flavor.
My Caesar Salad was delish. Loved the Lavender vodka drink. But the food was really, really salty when it came to the entrees. Waiter Charles is a delight…but find yourself a new host/hostess.
It was fantastic! Everything was full of flavor. Highly recommend the shrimp and panchetta linguini and the burrata. Great bar scene for date night to have dinner at the bar.
The excellent service paired with the wonderful wine selection was enough to win me over. After the burrata I was hooked. Fantastic food and experience overall.
Food was amazing!
Good food, great/friendly servers, they were very busy and therefore it took some time to get our courses. Nice space, at night the glare from headlights can be annoying
What a night! Found a spot I can’t wait to keep coming back to. Everyone from the manager to the host showed us a warm welcome and ensured our stay was being enjoyed. A few items that stood out - the burrata (homemade, and the best in town) the croquettes (golden & crispy outside, holding the medley of Manchego and spiced chorizo captive long enough for it to meet your mouth), and the summer skirt steak (oh so tender and topped with a field-fresh strawberry-herb mixture and goat cheese crumbles). Miss Ash behind the bar whipped up some drinks I’m still thinking about. Thanks, you all, and can’t wait to return.
Ashley and Brett are THE BEST. The whole staff is awesome. The food s fantastic and we couldn’t ask for better service. It’s truly our personal “Cheers” where everyone knows your name and we know theirs. It’s great for a date night, a just because night and a ‘what the heck’ night. You just can’t go wrong.
Service was exceptional. The bread and Cesar salad were amazing. I ordered the squid ink pasta and unfortunately did not like it. I’ve had squid ink pasta before but this tasted like ground beef with green peppers and noodles. They graciously brought me another dish to take home - the lemon linguine with shrimp. I think my expectations were higher - the noodles were super fresh but both of the pasta dishes were very average. My fiancé got the balanzoni and thought his dish was on the bland side. Just didn’t live up to the hype and didn’t feel like either of the dishes were worth $25+.
Great wine list.
Amazing food and atmosphere!
I enjoyed the food. The steak was outstanding. The crispy potato fingerlings were some of the best I’ve had. We will visit again.
This is our favorite spot for date night. Great food, drinks and service!
Loved everything about our experience at Flour Shop. It is adorable, the staff are prompt and knowledgeable, and most importantly - kind. It is a little pricey but I trust that the quality of food we received was reflected in the price. AMAZING!
The service was excellent and the food was incredible. We will definitely be back.
Fresh pasta and seafood, and Great wine! Was great to have restaurant food right off the stovetop again!
Fantastic food and incredible service. Very enjoyable experience
As always, everything was fantastic. Fresh wild tile fish, perfect martini’s made by Ashley. There is a reason that this has been my favorite restaurant in Charlotte for years
We were graciously given a gift card to Flour Shop. We decided to try this over the weekend. I should note that the CDC and Governor had just that week changed the guidance related to wearing of masks for people who are vaccinated. I don't want to make this a political discussion, but people aren't carrying signs indicating who is and who is not vaccinated. While I expect other customers to not be wearing masks, I found it extremely disappointing that absolutely none of the restaurant staff were wearing masks. I am going to assume that they are all vaccinated. However, I don't feel very comfortable with that assumption. I realize that I need to adjust my expectations as we all negotiate this pandemic. I was hoping that people cooking and serving the food would continue to wear masks - at least for a little while longer. The servers are frequently very close to the diners. While I can put on my mask at times, often they arrive without enough notice to re-don the mask. The open kitchen is a nice feature and adds to the ambiance, but watching the cooks and other servers eating and drinking in the space and none of them wearing a mask was a bit disturbing. This certainly colored our experience.
We had the burrata appetizer. This was well portioned and very good. We also shared a Caesar salad which was excellent. My wife and I both ordered pasta dishes. My wife got the mussel dish and I got the shrimp dish. Both were seasoned well and very tasty. I will say that my shrimp was a bit over cooked. Not a huge deal, but was noticeable. For dessert we shared the brioche doughnut with lemon curd. We enjoyed this and it was something a bit different from the standard dessert menu. If anything, I think that the doughnut probably should be about 1/3 smaller. I think it would give a better ratio of bread to sugar/cinnamon and lemon curd.
Overall, the food was fine. The atmosphere is cool, but not comfortable given the current situation in the world.
Flour Shop never disappoints. We have been coming almost since their opening and have never had anything we didn't love! Ashley is the absolute best so if you want a great experience sit at the bar and ask for Ashley.
Environment was cool. Food was just OK. They have no kids menu - I mean, cmon.
Extremely bland food. Save your money and go elsewhere
Excellent pasta. This was our first time at Flour Shop and we basically followed all of the waiter’s suggestions. No regrets. We will go back.
Great food. Really good service. Awesome outdoor patio.
Good meal enjoyed by all!
I keep coming back hoping I’ll love and there is more consistency. Overall for the price it’s just ok. I love they make everything from scratch! The pasta is good but generally don’t get enough. We got the Brussels, bread and croquettes to start. Bread is always amazing I do feel paying for basically 2 slices is little much. But it’s the best thing they make so I get it. Brussels were pretty good, croquettes not much flavor at all. Would not order those again. Got the gnocchi and the pasta is amazing but you get like 5 large ones with 5 meatballs. The meatballs were tough and over cooked. So that leaves you with 5 pieces of pasta. For the price I think needs a rebalance. We got the cinnamon donut which was good but the lemon custard was not that great, tasted like too much fake lemon used. Would have been better with chocolate or caramel. Without the custard bread was too dry. Service was better this time and love the little patio.
Every dish was delicious! We are excited to go back as it seems their menu changes, and we want to try more dishes. The service was great, and I love the interior design. I got the Mushroom ravioli, my dad got the duck, and my bf got the lamb pasta dish. All were so good! Excellent wine menu, too. Would like to try a cocktail next time.
Service was great, food and wine were delicious!
Our dirty plates sat on the table for a very long time after each course. The food was delicious. Such a shame poor service is what lessened the experience- especially on a holiday we were taking our mom out.
Fantastic food and service!!
Such a beautiful experience every time! Delicious, fresh food, delightful bartenders and gorgeous ambience!
