Had a wonderful dinner outside on the patio with our friends. The duck special was delicious as was the pesto orchiette pasta with shrimp.

We likely will not be back. We sat at the bar and had to wave someone down whenever we needed anything at all. Very small restaurant with too many tables crammed in, hot, loud and the food was sub par. We had high hopes but were disappointed.

I have enjoyed many meals here but n the past but last night was lacking. We normally sit at the bar because the wait staff and bartenders are informative and engaging. Our bartender/waitress did not smile the entire evening. No elaboration on the menu- just what do you want? In the past the chefs and staff would collaborate and joke with one another. That was also missing last night. Wondering if something disturbing or sad happened before we arrived. I know from my business how intentional and constant training is required to create the teamwork and vibe we experienced past. Hope last night was an aberration and not the result of new management

The mahi mahi was not good. Very bland and not fresh tasting at all. Pasta with beef was also very underwhelming and not what you would expect for the prices you pay. The ambiance is good but they really need to step up their game at these prices.

We’ve gone to Flour Shop before and had good experiences. We have not been there for a year or two and decided to try it again tonight. It was very disappointing. Went on a Wednesday night and the place was dead. Date appetizer and Caesar salad were both very mediocre. Entree noodles were not fresh and had a rubbery consistency. Waiter was nice but did not know much about how items were prepared.

Let me preface this with two things - 1. I hate leaving negative reviews and 2. flour shop used to be my absolute favorite restaurant in Charlotte and it breaks my heart to post this but tonight was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in awhile. From the jump, it felt like the staff was irritated by our presence - but that can be explained away I’m sure. The real bummer is that all of the food we ordered - orriechetti, steak, and cinnamon roll for dessert - was dry. And when i say dry i mean i couldn’t eat the lamb meatballs in my pasta or the cinnamon roll because they were so dry. That being said we also got the beet salad and absolutely loved it. Flour shop used to do bread service with your meal but now they charge $12 which is on par with the majority of the starter menu. In all, it was a nearly $200 dinner that we left hungry. I’m so sad because flour shop used to be my go to — unfortunately tonight was one of a few poor experiences and I don’t think we will be back.
