About this restaurant

  • Great for outdoor dining
  • Innovative
  • Romantic
Fiya is our collage of neighborhood spots in Israel, revolving around a wood-burning oven turning out fresh pita, among many other foods. What we especially love about the cuisine is that it is healthy yet delicious, very veggie forward. And we have a great bar and a big, lush, garden patio in summer and, in winter, dinner bubbles, heaters, blanket, and warm food and drinks. At Fiya, we come to our cuisine through the lens of the Israeli melting pot, while knowing that its lineage is profoundly Arab, Kurdish, African, and that of other Levantine cuisines, among still others. We aspire to honor the heritage of the food, and to welcome all to the restaurant, especially the wonderful diversity that is Andersonville.

Recognizing that many restaurants remain short staffed, I write this after seeing other tables turned over way faster. We were there for 3 hours (not wanting to spend that much time). Our cocktails took 20 minutes minimum each time we ordered. Food took for.ev.er. So much so, we only ended up eating hummus and Salatim (neither of which have any cooking prep required). There was no apology or even acknowledgment offered for the SEVERE delays. No comped anything. During the three hours we were there, we saw multiple tables flip much faster. This was ultimately my wedding rehearsal dinner so it fell short of what I had hoped for. The food and drinks were good but the terrible service totally overshadowed the good.

We enjoyed sitting in the bubble at Fiya. Good was very good. Would love to see more options for vegetarians.

Thanks Parita. But the menu is already at least 50% vegetarian!?

We reserved a bubble outside. It was so covid safe, they don't enter your bubble the entire time and just unzip it to hand you your food and rezip. The food was amazing, the service was impeccable. I'd note they stick to the 1.5 hour reservations and remind you. I didn't mind since I know they need to turn over these few bubbles to make enough to be open. I cannot recommend this spot enough! Everything we ordered was delicious, but we loved the bread boats the best!

Server was terrible - the food was good but not enough garlic or spice - really food from the Levant? It seemed quite americanized in that the flavor profiles were way too dulled down. Wine was so-so, and in short - other than the hummus and the oven fresh pita (which had no flavor but nice consistency), I would not recommend.
    FiyaResponded on March 12, 2021
Well, the chef is Israeli, as are many of our customers. Your author has been to Israeli twice for extended visits. Respectfully, I don't think you know of what you speak. Have you ever been to the Levant? Israeli cuisine is quite varied, having something like 180 distinct ethnic groups but, very generally, the use of garlic tends to more subtle than potent. It's not like Sicilian cuisine. Fiya is routinely cited as having the best hummus and pita in the city, a point for fair debate admittedly.

Second time here in two weeks. Different friends and some different food but everything was exceptional. The chicken, cauliflower, French fries, pita, hummus, lamb meatballs were all wonderful. We again sat in a heated bubble on the patio, which felt very safe and kind of warm. Great service, though they really kept to their 90 minute restriction so it felt a little rushed. Looking forward to sitting on their patio, unbubbled and unmasked! Great place!!
    FiyaResponded on March 12, 2021
Thanks Meta! We look forward to those days too, and relaxing that 90 minute rule. It's sort of a survival thing, that will limited seating we need to turn as many reservations as we can in a day.
