We selected this place from a Yelp article on oyster happy hours and although we missed the oyster happy hour, both the staff and the food were excellent. The bar staff was courteous, helpful and friendly, and each of their recommendations was delicious. We can't wait to return to try more items on the menu.
Great food, mix of European traditions with American flavor
Shareable plates to enjoy multiple dishes
Best mussels ever! And I order mussels almost anywhere they are on the menu.
The Coconut curry mussels are the standout here. The other 4 styles of mussels work too.
We enjoyed excellent muscles and the mains. The noise level was "energetic" but we could hear ourselves. The wait staff were very attentive, and moved us when the sun blinded us (afternoon sun coming in from a high window) The food was beautifully presented, and well cooked. We recommend the restaurant for pre-play dinner, and for casual dining.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. We sat down at 6:50 at a table that was very awkwardly placed behind the host stand. No one came to our table to greet us by 7:00 pm, so my husband asked the hostess if we had a server. A server comes and we order two dirty martinis with blue cheese olives and the pretzel monkey bread. By 7:20, we could see our drinks sitting on the bar and we had not been served. I went to the hostess and explained the situation. She then came to the table with our drinks (which did not have blue cheese martinis and were now watered down) and a manager comes by and asks “how are we doing?” As we explain that we now waited 40 minutes for drinks and appetizers, she apologies and said she would comp our drinks and appetizer. The pretzel bread then came out burnt. The manager was kind, and then brought us out an appetizer with a variety of spreads and tartare all of which was sub par. Our server finally comes back to the table at 7:30, and says “sorry I didn’t know we were out of blue cheese olives.”
We decided to leave, as we could not take the service and mediocre food. We know they are new, but for the price point and location we expected better service. I will never return, but I would wait if I were you to give them time to work out the kinks in their service.
Great experience overall! Food (especially the steak, the frites, and the shrimp mortadella) and service outstanding.
Everything was amazing...the food, ambiance, drinks, etc. best mussels I’ve ever had.
A little hectic when we first arrived - there were no menus available, so we had to wait to be seated. While we waited, we ordered a nice cocktail at the bar (pretty standard ~$15). Once we were outside, it took our waiter a little while to get to us, and then was a bit aggressive in ensuring we had paid for our drinks at the bar. He asked if we were eating....duh? Then he went back in, got us place setting (which there were already 4 at the table, so it was a bit confusing). We finally got to order and asked for his opinion - he was not really having that. I get that waiters may hate this question, but no need to seem annoyed. Once the food came out everything was delicious (we ordered mussels and frites, of course, and also the oysters and Sauerkraut Horseradish Pierogi all priced reasonably to slightly expensive), but good thing we didn't need too much else - because the waiter maybe came to check on us once; just enough to get another drink ordered. Luckily the nice bartender, hostess, and server/ guy who came to clear our plates between apps and entre were all very pleasant. Maybe the waiter was just having a bad day - so I don't hold it against the restaurant, and would certainly go back!
I seriously can’t get enough of this place! They know how to do seafood so well!
Delicious menu. Beautiful outdoor patio. Excellent service. Friendly. Wonderful experience.
I had the mussels. Excellent sauce and the bread to dip was excellent! The staff was very nice and helpful with suggestions. We tried the pretzel with mustard and that was very good as well. My wife had the sea bass wrapped in prosciutto. That was very good as well. They had plenty of wine to choose and a few good beers to choose from.
The food was excellent, and I can't say enough about the lobster bisque. But it took requests to two different hostesses to get the server to our table. Once we got his attention, it was fine, but we were barely on time at the theatre with this delay.
We had a great dinner. Food was fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Unpleasant diners seated beside us rattled our server. He handled them very professionally but they clearly exhausted the emotional capital of the staff and mgmt. Without this issue our dinner was flawless.
The menu could be called Belgian Fusion cuisine. There are staples such as flavorful, meaty mussels and frites, but then an octopus bolognese with preserved egg yolk (yes spaghetti bolognese is very Belgian.) Everything was interesting and tasty. Although you’d expect this to be a beer place, the wines by the glass were actually more interesting, including a Furmint from Hungary.
Drink special was good - jalapeno infused vodka with watermelon juice at $4. $1 Oysters were fresh. Good mussels. Good server. Enjoyed it very much
Delicious seafood! Fun crafted cocktails… Beer muscles and monkey pretzel bread are among my favorites items!
As good as before, love the happy hour!
A group of four of us came here on a whim because it was walking distance from our hotel and WOW, were we blown away. Our server was amazing, and the food was absolutely delicious--and we had appetizers, entrees AND dessert! We loved the ambiance of the place as well as the terrific food, and I will definitely be recommending Fisk & Co. to others as well as returning there myself the next time I travel to Chicago. What a find!
We dined before a Millenium Park concert. Mussels and frites are always a treat-and they offer several different preparations. We enjoyed the cocktails and beer selection as well.
I love this restaurant! It’s our go-to downtown place for drinks, dinner, and everything in between.
Wonderful new spot with innovative dishes and fresh flavors. Particularly loved the gnocchi, the sea bass and the chicken schnitzel. The service was attentive and friendly and meal was well paced.
As good as before, like the oyster.
I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and we had a great experience. The service was great, the food was great, and the restaurant was accommodating to the occasion. I would definitely return.
Fantastic Mussels...we ordered them three ways and they were all outstanding! Interesting Bruch menu. Great Service!
Wonderful menu in pleasant setting. High ceilings, however, make for quite a bit of crowd noise, so try to get a location along the wall or windows. Not a huge menu, but a super variety nonetheless. Having just been in Brussels, seeing fine Belgium fare in the heart of Chicago was cool. Excellent waitress; very attentive staff.
The mussels and frites were outstanding!!!
The wait staff was helpful, upbeat and personable
The entrees were well crafted and delicious.
The restaurant was busy yet quiet enough that we could comfortably chat.
We shall return...
The service was excellent and the food was even better! Creative food that would satisfy almost anyone’s taste buds! The server was extremely attentive and kept replacing our silverware and dishes with every entree. One of my most favorite spots in the city!
Great seafood with lovely atmosphere!
this is a pleasant solid . my lobster roll was good but not great could have used more lobster.
service was top-notch. a nice place for lunch.
The food was excellent. Gnocchi was cooked to perfection. Light and airy, which is hard to do with gnocchi. And the sauce and veg was suburb. Seriously an outstanding meal. Get the rum cake for dessert.
I had mussels (curry preparation) my husband had the octopus with squid-ink pasta - both were excellent. Service was both friendly and prompt. We'll be back soon.
Really enjoyed this new spot in the Loop. It is perfect for a pre-theater dinner. I loved the classic mussels and the frites. What I liked was that there were several mussel choices and six aioli/ketchup choices for the frites. The ice cream for dessert was also great. Don't miss it.
Server was charming but service was slow. There was a large noisy party in the lower room but none the less we enjoyed our dinner
The food was great. We started with the charcuterie plate, which was wonderful, as were the mussels. Extensive beer list.
Mussels are awesome.
Wonderful nugget in the loop. Have come for mussels, beer, frites and raw bar. All meals were delicious. Slightly salty across the board but matches well with the beer
A great new spot with spot on food and atmosphere - good beer selection and the mussels were great -
This new Chicago restaurant is a hit! I went with a friend from the East Coast, who is incredibly picky about his seafood meals, and we were both very impressed with the quality of the muscles. We also ordered some oysters, which were fresh & delicious. The food was incredible, as was the service. I will definitely be going back again!
