Fish was fantastic! And service was attentive and happy. We felt very "Covid-safe" at a lovely end table with a heater outside. Just be prepared for a pricy experience.
Fantastic meal in relaxing environment- service was fantastic. Just the right pace and servers were all friendly and helpful. Definitely will be back .
Food, amazing. Staff, incredibly friendly. Outdoor seating, on the sidewalk but actually better than indoors.
Love this place so much. Favorite restaurant on the west side. A must go to!
Nice date and of course, food outside on the street! We still went all out and service was absolutely amazing. Maddie (sp?) was out server and represented the establishment so well...what was suppose to be drinks and appetizers turned into and awesome meal!
Good spot for dates and weekend lunches. Service is excellent.
Had such a great lunch! The oysters, the ceviche, the fish sandwich, the tacos! So good!
Great oysters! And the halibut dish is wonderful!
Outside seating was done very well. Plexiglass barriers between each table, excellent clam chowder soup, too many items made with mayonnaise and not butter and service was slow
The coriander tuna was very chewy and tough. Octopus was a little charred and the rock shrimp tacos lacked flavor. The hamachi was good
I chose this restaurant as a surprise for my husband's birthday because he loves oysters and seafood.
This is the best seafood restaurant that we've experienced in Los Angeles. Our waiter spoiled us with great service and was very knowledgeable about oyster varieties and quality.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves top quality seafood.
Delicious seafood entrees and a nice wine menu. Too many good things to choose from. Friendly staff, great location, COVID compliant, and a great location.
Outside and the food were disappointing, not what I expected. I was looking forward to trying FWD, but other than the soup, highly ordinary.
Repeat east coast customers here. Food is always fresh and delish. Customer service staff is consistently excellent. Very windy Sunday afternoon but it didn't take anything away from the afternoon MBCH FWD seafood lunch!
Safe and fresh al fresco dining in MBCH. See you again for sure...
FWD seems to have more room outside than they did inside. The menu is a little bit limited, but it still has the Peruvian scallops and the grilled octopus- and of course the fries and lobster roll! It was cool and windy on Saturday, but we bundled up - the dividers between tables are great. The service was excellent, and the waiter knew the South African white I picked off the menu. That was my second trip in a week - always one of my favorites in the LA area!
We came for lunch at the time of COVID-19, they have a outdoor setup unfortunately it was cold and windy that day. Hope for inside to open soon.
Staff was not friendly or accommodating
Amazing food and service! You will not be disappointed! Must try -> Peruvian Scallops from the raw bar and the Kiwi Lime Pie for dessert.
The food was amazing. Everything we had was great. Love the tomato toast and the sashimi appetizer, too.
The place is very safe for Covid. The food was amazing. Fun and delicious
beautiful setting, delicious food! Safe and clean, excellent all around!
Best oysters in LA
Great place. Fresh, delicious seafood and friendly staff.
We came here for a birthday celebration and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. They made a memorable night and even put a candle on their famous key lime pie. Everything that came out the kitchen was a hit.
We love the resturant and the people. Food was not up to snuff today. We all have bad days.
I’ve been to FWD multiple times before and have loved it.
However with outside seating we got stuck on a very wobbly table that was almost in the street/corner/crosswalk where cars would literally stop and people were getting in and out right next to our table. People would stop at corner next to our table, people waiting for the restaurant were directly behind us, needless to stay it was loud and random people were constantly standing around us our entire meal.
We asked soon after sitting down if another table cleared, could we be moved. They said of course they would move us once tables cleared. No one came to follow up even though multiple tables cleared out.
Service was slow and we feel like we were forgotten about sitting in the street. Once our server did take our order we asked for it to be coursed out as we were sharing. Everything came out within 2 min of each other and our already wobbly table was over filled with plates.
I do not write many reviews but feel I need to because if you are paying good money for a nice restaurant you don’t want to be stuck in a cross walk ramp with poor service. Very disappointed in this experience for sure
Unique dishes to try Super fresh seafood. Save room for the Key Lime Pie for dessert!
Went for my daughter’s birthday as she had never been there prior. Food was amazing as always. Outdoor seating was a little tight, but it didn’t bother us.
Best ingredients Seasoning is always distinctive, not standard but not overdone. Range Even comfort foods like Moms squash rolls & Kashakairi rice have distinctive twist to them. Servers know the menu super well. If you want, they will confirm that the cocktail or wine you are considering will click with what you are ordering.
Everyone there really goes out of their way to make sure you have the best possible experience with food & service.
Don't be afraid to dine outside--they are scrupulous about table placement/distancing & it's quite pleasant. You are shielded from pedestrians & traffic. I do miss the cozy old cottage crowded comaraderie of the indoors....but this setup is one of the best transformations --you don't feel like you are eating in a parking lot(and you aren't0.
Have always loved Fishing with Dynamite, but our last experience was extremely poor in regards to quality. Whereas previous times we've gone we feel like the food has been fresh, both the oysters and the crab legs this time seemed like they had been frozen. We also were confused after ordering 1/2 lb crab legs, and getting only 1.5 claws? We asked the waitress where the legs were and she just said we would have needed to request the "leg" portion if we wanted it. Thought that was implied when we ordered "Crab Legs". I understand that the current Covid situation has impacted restaurants in many ways, but when it comes to the freshness and quality of the food I can't ignore that FWD has unfortunately started dropping off. Hopefully they were just having an off day and will return to their previous glory in the near future.
The oysters and Peruvian Scallops are delish!! Server and staff very attentive!!
Excellent food at a great location. Superb service. Pricey, but that's the cost of admission.
Birthday celebrations 🎉
Very good food and nice wait staff. Sadly we had to stand waiting for our reserved table for 30 minutes. Then our table was in the hot sun, no shade.
Some of the food was outstanding. Some of it was so so. Service was excellent!
amazing - everything was unreal! Can't wait to go back
The food is great, the staff is friendly, and they are keeping you safe (including plexiglass between the tables). Highly recommend!
